This lake side lodge is located around 5 miles from the Casino and 8 miles from downtown Hayward. The Hayward area offers restaurants, shopping, go karts , wineries, museums, mini golf, and more. If you come in the summer be sure to take in the lumberjack show. There are also over 5 golf courses nearby.
Are power sports your thing? The snowmobile trail is located on the lake in front of the home and you can also access the ATV Trails directly from this home. The ATV trails connect to County Road E (Which is open to ATVs) and from there you can hit 100's of miles of off road trails.
Grindstone is known for its fishing and boating. The water is clear and the bottom in front of our home is sandy and gradually gets deeper so it's great for swimming. You're welcome to bring your own boat or we can direct you to some local rental companies. You can tie up to our private pier during your stay. There is plenty of onsite parking space for your vehicles and trailers. We also offer a canoe for our guests to use while at the cabin.
A Note About Dogs:
We LOVE dogs and we want our guests to enjoy their vacation with the whole family, including the furry members :-) Up to two dogs are allowed at this cabin with prior approval- an additional fee applies. That being said, please be mindful of whether our home is appropriate for your dog(s).
We may not be the vacation rental for you if your dog(s):
*Consider barking to be a favorite pastime;
*Chew things other than bones;
*Like to visit the neighbors unsupervised (we do not have a fenced-in yard), and/or;
*Use the house as a bathroom.
We ask that your dogs be supervised when at the cabin and crated when you are not (One large crate is available at the cabin). Also, it should not need to be said (but unfortunately needs to be, as we have had guests leave enough surprises for us), but PLEASE pick up after your dogs!! It is NOT the responsibility of our cleaners. Sorry, no cats, please.

Plenty of room for 10. Kitchen well stocked. Separate lakeside deck with built in fire pit was awesome. Great swimming lake.

We had a wonderful time at the cabin. We enjoyed the easy access to the water and enjoy swimming and boating.
The fire pit at night was great for the kids to roast marshmallows.

Cabin was very nice. Not as private as we would like but cabin more than suited our needs.

House was a nice place, but the locatio was not the best. Not enough room if you have big trailers. Neighbors are very close. Barking dogs
But the house was ok.

Our party of 11 had an excellent Christmas vacation in this cabin. Lots of space...5 bedrooms, wood-burning fireplace in the great room...which is just off the open dining room and kitchen, and a short walk down to the lake.

The property was perfect for our annual ATV fall ride. Plenty of room, very nice house.

No complaints. Property was just as described in the listing.

We enjoyed the home. The family room was great. Bathrooms and bedrooms were good. Air conditioning in home was great. The fire pit area was nice. We did not like the last 12ft of the path to the pier (steep and slippery). We did not like all the dogs living next door constantly barking no matter what time of day we walked outside (not really an up north feel). Have never had to bring bath towels to a home I have rented, was inconvenient. Cookware in kitchen is worn out and needs to be replaced. Ceiling fan remotes do not work well and need to be replaced. Garage door needs to be fixed.

We had a great time staying at this property. The location was great, with enough space for all 10 of us. We would for sure stay here again.

The cabin was perfect for our group! Other than parking our trailers and dealing with a neighbor we had a fantastic time! Can't wait to come back next year!

Grindstone Lake is beautiful. We would highly recommend visiting if you like clear water with a nice sandy bottom. As far as the cabin goes, it would have been nice had we not had to deal with ants the day we checked in and a broken dishwasher. The property management company was quick to respond and try to address these issues. Aside from that the cabin worked well for our family. The one wish we had was a boat lift since it’s quite a drive to the closest boat ramp.

Wonderful location. Cabin was beautiful just a few minor issues like broken fan upstairs. Quiet. Relaxing

The online pictures accurately described the property. The lake was clear and shallow by the dock with a sand bottom. Nice for swimming. Be careful when boating as there are many shallow, rocky spots on the lake.
It felt more like a resort setting due to the proximity of the neighbors. Overall, it was roomy and comfortable and provided an ample amount of space for our group of eight adults.

July Family Get-away
This is our 18th annual family cabin week stay at various places, so we have much to compare this property with. There are always pros and cons in each one. Sunset Cove has lots of woodsy, beautifully decorated indoor space, a great view of the lake, sandy beaches, a well-stocked kitchen, a great dog run and comfortable beds. The outdoor spaces definitely need attention and love, with the landscape mostly comprised of unattractive, overgrown weeds. The path to the dock, while not steep, needs stairs or paved access as it is slippery and dangerous for the senior set. We loved meeting our neighbor, Eileen, who filled us in on the history of the place. She was a great neighbor, helpful and kind.

Great place!
We had a great week here! Close to the lake, very well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, large great room just perfect for relaxing! They do a good job of cleaning between guests - everything was ready for us & it was very clean!
A couple comments -
This is not 3 full baths. The basement bath is just sink and toilet and a curtain instead of a door.
There is no electricity at the dock, so bring extension cords.
Some extra cleaning is needed - mold in the shower off the loft & many dead flies on vaulted window sills

Overall we had a great weekend in Hayward Wisconsin.
Our experience was generally good. The cabin was kind of tired and needed some repairs after a long summer. The decorating was very fun and woodsy and the beds were comfortable with nice bedding.

Great Place
Everything was as advertised. A great place to enjoy the fall colors. Didn’t want for anything while we were there. Easy drive into Hayward and all it has to offer.

Spacious, comfortable and great location
We really enjoyed our stay here! The cabin and decor are beautiful and the layout is really nice. We cooked every night and loved using the kitchen - it had everything we needed. The dock offers a great view of the sunrise. All the communication from the property manager was professional and prompt. We'd definitely stay here again.

Beautiful house, great location
We stayed for a week with various family members, at most 10 of us at one point. There was plenty of room for sleeping and moving about inside the house, which was very well appointed. One drawback of the loft upstairs, which was essentially the "master" level, is that it is open to light and sounds coming from the main level. The lake is beautiful and quite shallow for a long ways out. It would have been nice to have a ladder attached to the dock, as it was somewhat difficult for some of the swimmers to get in and out of the water. But the house provided a large inflatable "raft" (which was already inflated), which everyone enjoyed. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a quiet, relaxing stay near a beautiful lake.

Buyer Beware
Everything was great except there needs to be blinds/curtains on the windows If your staying here bring something to cover the bedroom/ front windows for privacy!!! No blinds or curtains in 2 of the bedrooms !! When the sun comes up no way to keep out light either !!! No blinds or curtains in front windows !! Owner lives next door which made it weird and uncomfortable with no window coverings. Felt like we where/could be watched especially at night when we gathered as a family in the family room We had no interaction with the owner but was just weird n creepy Put up window coverings!!!

Great Lake and Location
This cabin was a perfect location for our family getaway. There are some cosmetic issues with the property (boards coming apart from the side of the fireplace, fans that do not work, broken handle on microwave, some of the patio furniture that appeared in photos was in the garage broken) but none of this distracted us from having a great time. The house does seem to need a deep clean particularly in the bathrooms. Overall, we had a good time, but felt the property could use some sprucing up to be comparable to other properties of the same price point. The property management company was easy to work with and communicated well. I would definitely recommend this location and property manager, but not necessarily this cabin.

Decent getaway
The cabin was pretty decent. Few minor things such as one ceiling fan not working, some bedroom windows lacking blinds. Personally we didn't care for the steps getting into the house. Way too many. Would have liked more grass areas to sit and enjoy outside. But really didn't sit outside much due to crabby neighbors. Liked the fact that they had a garbage dumpster on site. The fishing was great. 4 wheeler trails were close and were nice trails. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Perfect Getaway
We had a great time with our family staying on Grindstone Lake. The cabin was very easy to find, very accessible to the lake and had a at home feel. We enjoyed our week long stay very much and would love to go back someday!

Great place to relax during spring break with amazing views
The cabin is very comfortable with ample spaces. Great views from almost all places. Bunk beds were of the highest quality I have seen in a rental. All beds are very comfortable. The place was very quiet during spring break which I appreciated. The deck with firepit is great and comfortable! Lots of nature trails in the area. Hayward town is very cute, mke sure to stop by Tremblays candy store, Lynn's meats, and fireside bakery

Reviewer Comments:
This cabin was exactly what we were looking for! We had 5 adults and 3 children, and the bunks were perfect for them. The main room was large enough for everyone to be comfortable. We brought our dog and had no problem with her not being on furniture. In fact, there was a huge dog bed provided (we also brought her kennel), and she loved laying on it while we were just hanging out. There is also a nicely fenced in area that we could let her out, doggie door included. There was good ice fishing not too far out from the cabin. Everything we needed in the kitchen was provided and the cabin was cleaned and organized. We brought extra blankets as suggested, and were perfectly comfortable. The ONLY drawback was that the main light over the dining table wasn't working, so it got pretty dim at night. And that was hardly an issue. We look forward to returning in the summer!
