The Neighborhood
The stunning suburb of West Launceston holds a truly unique blend of residential charm and Tasmania's stunning wilderness. Nestled among rolling hills, you'll find original federation-style homes that have been lovingly renovated, seamlessly blending modern comforts with their original character.
Perched overlooking the Launceston Valley, West Launceston offers breathtaking city views from every angle, whether it's basking in the warm morning sun or admiring the starry skies and city lights.
Within the suburb, you'll find an IGA supermarket for all your grocery needs, as well as the delightful Cuccina Cafe, serving up delicious breakfast and lunch options throughout your stay.
Step outside and discover the wonders of Cataract Gorge right at your doorstep. Here, you can enjoy leisurely walks, refreshing swims in freshwater basins, and exhilarating rides on the world's longest single-span chairlift. Keep an eye out for the vibrant peacocks roaming the area! For a unique perspective, hop aboard the Tamar Cruise vessel and sail through the majestic rocky formations. Afterward, indulge in a memorable dining experience at the Gorge Restaurant, whether by the cosy fireplace indoors or amidst the serene Tasmanian wilderness outdoors. While exploring, we highly recommend a visit to the Duck Reach Power Station, a fascinating glimpse into Australia's first publicly-owned hydro-electric power station.
Although West Launceston is within walking distance of Launceston's city centre, it's worth noting that it's quite a hill. Once there, you'll discover an abundance of tasty cafes, eclectic boutiques, and lively cocktail bars and pubs. Don't miss out on exploring the city's charming parks, including Princes Square with its historical fountains, and City Park, home to beautiful oak tree gardens, a children's playground, a lush conservatory, and playful snow monkeys.

We stayed at the property managed by Moxxi property. We actually ended up staying at a very similar villa in the same complex because they were so kind and accomodating because we needed to change our dates to delay our stay on cradle mountain due to the weather and the original villa was booked out on the new dates.
The service from Moxxi was amazing. The place was so clean it felt like we were the first people to ever stay there! We had an issue with the super fancy induction stove not recognising the fry pan, and they brought us a new fry pan on a public holiday.
It was so comfortable and luxurious and the shower and water pressure were great. The beds and pillows were comfy, with warm doonas. There was a very effective reverse cycle aircon in the living area and oil heaters in every bedroom. Also, the view was beautiful. What made it even better were the little things they provided to make it perfect, like shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, omo powder, washing line indoors and out, oil, salt pepper, coffee, milk, tomato sauce, foil, glad wrap etc.. the only thing they didn’t provide was dishwasher pellets for the dishwasher.
If I ever come back to Tasmania, I’ll try to find a property managed by Moxxi property. I think it might also be cheaper to book directly with them.
Thanks for a great holiday!!

Everything we could have wished for

Nebraska is flat so the hilly environment, a challenge. They avoided the rocks, on which one nearly fell. The locked box was a challenge to open, but must have been greased as ok when leaving. The big minus was the lack of mirrors. 3 women fought for the one small mirror in the bathroom. Luckily we had no early morning commitments and could leave at our leisure.

This unit is exactly as listed - gorgeous sunny living space, two bedrooms, and everything we needed, including Netflix! We’ve had a wonderful stay.

We enjoyed our stay immensely. Our son and daughter-in-law who live in Launceston were envious of our views. The house was very comfortable and well appointed. easy to get into town, on a bit of a hill, which meant going for much of a walk was a challenge. Overall ,Great. Thank you

Hard to fault the experience. Super clean and well thought-out. Very tastefully assembled. Feels coherent and has nice, simple flow to it.
