Colby Reef is a charming, private, and relaxing home offering an incredible Mendocino coast getaway.
Located only 1.5 miles from Van Damme State Park & Beach, where you can explore an incredibly scenic network of trails, including the unique pygmy forest and lush fern canyon. You can rent a kayak or relax at the beach. Right by the park is the Little River Inn, offering a 9-hole golf course, tennis courts, spa, fabulous dining, and Ole's Whale Watch Bar.
The historic Mendocino Village and all it has to offer is just an 8-minute drive.
The stunning living room with vaulted ceilings opens to the dining, kitchen, and mezzanine area, making it perfect for everyone to stay connected.
The mezzanine area includes a foosball table, board games, and two amazing recliners to kick back and enjoy the ocean views.
The large dining table has seating for ten to enjoy a great meal as you gaze at the waves.
There are two bedrooms on the main floor. The ocean views primary suite has a king-size bed and an attached ensuite with a separate shower and bathtub.
The second guest bedroom on the main floor has a queen-size bed and looks out to the beautiful deck and yard.

We had an amazing time at Colby Reef. The house is everything we wanted. The beds were very comfortable, there was plenty of space throughout the house to relax, and the house was very well stocked. It would have been nice if the door code could have been delivered electronically, but stopping into to pick up the welcome packet was easy enough. Regardless, we loved every moment of our stay. We would absolutely stay here again.

We loved this place. The space is really well maintained. Such thoughtful details that made our stay extra special. For instance a little welcome basket for my dog Willow. The space has a well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, and was spotless and clean. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our time there and would definitely return for a stay. Thank you!

The house was wonderful. My only objection was the check in process. Not sure why we had to drive into Mendocino to get a paper telling us what the door code was. An email would have been better. Other than that it was a terrific weekend. Beautiful house and wonderfully appointed. We'll be back :)

The location is lovely, great views of the ocean, although best observed from the upper level viewing chairs inside. There is a huge wraparound deck, with one side facing the ocean, and the other facing the secluded forest. The hot tub location faces the forest, and was very private and quiet. My negative note is the sofa in the living room is quite old, to the point where some of the seams are coming undone. Overall, this was a very nice home with an excellent location, and would be great for a family gathering.

The house was great. An excellent location with a fantastic view. All went well with a few minor issues due to normal wear and tear. The property was clean, but needs some attention to appliances and fixtures in the house. Mendocino Vacation Rentals were great to work with and very accommodating. I would recommend this property to anyone staying within the Mendocino area.

The rental was nice and clean. The kitchen had limited supplies as regular can opener, the electric one was difficult to operate. There was no naming dishes only cookie sheets and no crock pot either. The 2 couch beds downstairs mattresses were very uncomfortable. They need to invest in better mattresses for their guests.

The location is gorgeous. It's a treat to watch the ocean and the sunset from the top level of the house or from the porch.
The house is clean and in good condition, with beautiful kitchen and good furnishings. The towel folding art was impressive.
As minor suggestions for improvement, having the windows washed would improve the enjoyment of the view, and including a starter amount of shampoo and cooking oil would save a 30m drive to Safeway for people who didn't read the welcome emails closely enough or forgot to pack them.

Just returned home from a wonderful week at Colby Reef. Location can't be beat. Views are spectacular from every window. Just a few minutes drive to Mendocino one way and beaches the other. Restaurants and grocery stores are easily accessible. As for the home -- so comfortable and spacious! Beds/family room couch, upstairs recliners all great. The house was clean from top to bottom. Just a note, there is a bit of a smoky fireplace smell especially downstairs in the large suite. But once you're there, you really don't notice.The kitchen has all that you'd need. We always bring our favorite oils/spices/knives and some non-stick pans but the kitchen is so well stocked you won't need to bring any of it.Overall, an amazing stay in an amazing home!!The view from the property is really something. From one side of the house, it's all ocean and the other side, the beautiful forest.This is by far one of the best rentals we've stayed in and I would highly recommend it to anyone!

House is perfect. rooms are big. Home is comfy. Mendocino area is beautiful. from the secondary level you have a beautiful view of the ocean no matter where you look. One side of the desk gives you beautiful view of the ocean.

We had a great time at the Little River home hosted by Mendocino Preferred. The house is spacious and well equipped and it was great for an extended getaway over the holidays (we were a group of three families). Amazing views of the ocean from inside and outside, and close to Van Damme State Park and the town of Mendocino. Even though it was pretty rainy, we made lots of use of the hot tub and grill, which were great. The hosts were communicative and the check-in and check-out process were easy. Definitely recommended!

Absolutely gorgeous property - the pictures don’t do it justice, especially the panoramic view of the ocean. Perfectly arranged for a family group to have their own spaces for sleeping and privacy but also communal spaces to spend time together.
Location was fantastic too. A short drive to Mendocino and many parks and hiking trails, but a feeling of privacy and seclusion on the property itself.
The property manager was great; couldn’t have been easier. We were also impressed by how well-stocked the kitchen was.

We loved the quiet location of this house watching the beautiful sunsets most nights on the porch. There were a handful of houses nearby but they were either empty or no one bothered anyone. It was like our own private oasis. The whole time we were there, we only saw maintenance workers working on a house not far from us. The house is huge with 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bath. We used only 2 bedrooms (which cost a little less). The kids loved the foosball table up on the second floor. But it seems like that area was not cleaned very often as there were quite a few dead flies by the windowsill. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans and a full rack of spices, and coffee. The only down side was ants in the kitchen. Everything needed to be put away in the fridge. The dining table can fit 8 and we had breakfast and dinners there often with a few of the ocean. The master bedroom and basement bedroom were spacious. The bathrooms were clean and had all the basic needs, not luxurious but suited our needs. Loved the chocolates and they provided treats for our dog plus bowls and bags which was very nice. We loved the wrap around porch with gates. It was perfect for our dog to dry up and shake out the sand before letting him back into the house. The hot tub was great but wished it was on the other side of the house with the ocean view. But it was a great way to relax and end our day. Overall, we would stay there again.

Everything was in very good and clean condition. The living room couch had some fabric tears, but it did not affect functionality. The lower level was a bit musty smelling, and if the wind is blowing, DON'T light the fireplace upstairs on the main floor. The chimney flu was designed incorrectly, and smoke will drift inside the lowest level bedroom. The main floor was just fine - nice kitchen, dining and living room. The master bath has the only shower on this floor - so share with whoever sleeps in 2nd bedroom on this floor. The deck all around the outside is nice. The large area of the deck for table and BBQ is not on the ocean side of the house - which is fine, as the house blocks the wind off the ocean. DO be careful of trash - we had a bear on the last night destroy the garbage locker - which was securely fastened. So don't leave food in your car or ice chests on porch. Ice chests store just fine inside foyer. It was very quiet, with partial view of ocean. Overall lovely, but I'd not put 10 people in this place. 4 was plenty, especially since the one person downstairs had to sleep on top floor in recliner chair, as it was too smoky the first night, or too musty for her the other nights.

Plenty of room in a nice, big, open house. 3 levels, but if you have old people or an old dog, you can just stay on the main level. Make sure you secure the garbage cans though, or the raccoons, or whatever animals are out at night, will tear up the garbage cans to get to your garbage!
