We spent 2 nights at the ranch house and it was perfect for our family of 3 and 2 dogs. The hosts were so friendly and helpful. They just opened an outpost for trail riders with a bar and nice outdoor area. The house contained all the essentials and was very comfortable. We did a float on Saturday and then an early trail ride with the owner Sunday before we left. My daughter loves horses so she was excited to see all the trail riders and their horses that stoped at the outpost! The location is still very quiet and the view of the stars at night was spectacular. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice and cozy place. The hostess was very accommodating. Carl the cat is also very friendly!

Exactly as described. Enjoyed walks with our dog down the quiet country road to the pretty creek. Very safe being off leash. Enjoyed kayaking with Windy outfitters just a few miles away. The town is also a few miles away with gas, groceries, eating places. Everyone is so friendly in Missouri! (We are from Illinois). Recommend the Pie Barn in town too. If you enjoy cooking you might bring some sharp knives, maybe a big pot and some dish towels. The hosts provide only one dish cloth and one dish towel but were accommodating and sent extra towels the next day. Our dog enjoyed himself playing with the hosts’ dogs and meeting horses for the first time. If interested guided trail rides can be booked separately. Would enjoy coming again.

Cozy, clean, and great location. We stayed in the area to explore the many natural wonders and hiking spots. The cabin was perfect for our family of 4 (plus 2 dogs). Loved having a washer/dryer. Lots of kitchen counter space. I like the separation of the toilet from the shower/sink area. We hope to return in the summer months for swimming/floating the nearby rivers and Rocky Falls!

Old Desperado is our favorite destination in Missouri. Lisa and Scott are wonderful hosts and make certain that our stay is perfect! The cabins are comfortable, clean and well decorated. The beds are great and kitchen is well equipped. Laundry in the cabin so handy. The covered stalls for horses are spacious and well maintained. Water is close and stalls are lighted and secure.
Fire pit in the back of the cabin is wonderful and wood is provided. We sat around the fire every night, enjoying the peace and quiet.
The riding is amazing and we always ask Lisa to guide us on our trip. She has an unparalleled knowledge of the Mark Twain National Forest and shares interesting facts along the way. We used one of her trail horses this trip and Savannah was a perfect mount.
If you are looking for a peaceful Ozark mountain getaway, this is it!

Roads to the cabin were terrible. Furniture was very uncomfortable. Couldn't be outside as the bugs were terrible. They asked us to clean the cabin before we left but I had to pay $50.00 for cleaning in the fee I paid so why should I clean. Won't go back. Also I'm supposed to gey my dog deposit back if the cabin was ok. Where is my deposit!!

We love this area of MO. The cabin is off the beaten path which is super nice! And close enough to everything and everywhere we wanted to go. We don' t own horses but if you do, there are stalls right at the cabin. Peaceful and quiet. And spotty internet, which is helpful when one is escaping from work ( a perfect excuse to unplug!) Enjoyed this section in God's country!

Came down with friends for a quick canoe trip on the Current. It was a nice, clean place for the 4 of us. Lisa was very hospitable and responsive.

Great place to stay. While off the beaten path, close enough to town, hiking, kayaking, floating, horseback riding, and so much more. This place was fantastic. Clean, had all the amenities you would need, fire pit and patio.
It is very quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed the horses near by too. Definitely recommend and we will be back. The hosts were awesome and their story is pretty neat how they developed the ranch area to be shared with other. Thank you for sharing your slice of heaven with us.

Peaceful place to stay. The Ranch House was just like the pics on the website. I loved being able to bring my own food in and cook instead of eating out all the time. I will drive back.

We had a great week at the cabin. From the moment we checked in, the hosts were helpful and communication was great. It was clean and had everything we needed for our week-long stay. We enjoyed the extra space to relax after a day floating on the river. The kitchen was well stocked with essentials for the many meals we prepared. Bonus points for having hookups on property for the family that joined us, in their RV. We look forward to returning for future trips!

Had a wonderful time staying and riding with Lisa and Scott!
The Ranch house was perfect! Very comfortable.
Rode nearly 60 miles, crossing rivers and winding through the woods...and had some time to explore the local area!

We enjoyed our stay. The cabin was easy to find and we found it clean and cheerful. We loved the fire pit, which was stocked with plenty of wood and a nice seating area. I would recommend anyone looking for a two bedroom to stay here. My only concern was there were no window coverings in the kitchen and living area. The bathroom is located on the opposite side of the cabin from the bedrooms, making it awkward to walk in front of the windows with no coverings after showering and getting to the bedrooms. Also, it felt a little unsettling to have no window coverings after dark when we were watching TV or eating dinner. The area is very private but there are other cabins on the premises and people could see in the windows if they wanted to look. Lisa and Scott are great host and we enjoyed meeting them and hope to see them again in the future.

At the last minute, we were asked to switch cabins. We got switched from a place with some room to the tiny bunkhouse. It had a bunkbed, which did not work for us. It was just not the right place for us. It was clean and new, with a nice bathroom. Driving to the location was interesting.

This rental was everything we could imagine and more. The cabin was so comfortable and absolutely spotless. The host is incredible about answering any questions, and led us on a several hour trail ride that was icing on the cake! All of this made for one of our most memorable anniversary trips to date! We will be going back!

Had an absolute great stay. We went to the area to do some kayaking on the Current and Jacks Fork river. The location was great for where we needed to get to. We stayed for three nights at The Ranch house. Great place to get away for a few days as a family before summer winds down. Lisa was a fantastic host and also guided us on a 5 hour trail ride. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Eminence!

The Ranch House is perfect home base for floating and seeing all of the local Springs. We enjoyed using the grill and fire pit and seeing the stars without all the drunk twenties camping out nearby.

The Ranch House was perfect for us and our dog! It was close to the Ozark National Scenic rivers, springs & state parks. After a day of sightseeing, floating and exploring the area, the cabin was a great place to relax. Full kitchen, comfortable beds, satellite tv, pet friendly and awesome AC. Lisa & Scott were available if needed and wonderful hosts. WiFi was spotty.

Ranch House stay.
Close access to Current River and town. Private and peaceful.
The property was in good repair and well supplied. Towels were soft, smelled fresh and nice size unlike most hotels. Great hair dryer, good wattage and cool shot.
Property owners easy to talk with, checked in with us, not overbearing. Very helpful and accommodating.
It was enjoyable to stay in a nice place and have our dogs with us too.

Ranch house at old Desperado
It was definitely secluded like we hoped for, we just were not used to the clay county roads. Lisa was very helpful and made sure we had what we needed for our stay. We had several wasps nests and she sent her husband Scott right down to handle it. We explored the nearby trails and took a float trip. It was nice to come back to the cabin and relax. I will be honest, the internet wasn't super strong so if that is a must this may not be the place, but if you're looking for a reset from reality and listen to nature and be truly welcomed by the hosts then this is a must stop..

Modern Cabin in Consevation Area Under Dark Skies
Just what we were looking for, just 10 minutes from Eminence. Nicely equipped and comfortable cabin. Great for astronomy, especially when exterior lights on the two nearby cabins are turned off. Native wildflowers along the roadsides enhance walks, and shallow streams provide moisture for butterflies. Very pleasant and relaxing to sit outside or stroll nearby; we didn't feel the need to go anywhere else during our stay -- unusual for us.
