My husband and I along with our dog wanted a place away from the hustle and bustle of Calgary for a few night. It was a bit hot in the cabin but the cabin came with one fan and we brought two more from home so wasn’t too bad. Nice trails through the woods which our dog loved and there was a nice river to wade in to cool down in.

We had a great stay. Loved the river so close by. View of farm out kitchen window. Everything was great.

We were looking for an elevated camping experience. We are done with sleeping in a tent and want to be able to shower all the bug spray off at the end of the night.
This had everything we could need and the property as BEAUTIFUL especially the private river beach.
Our only feedback would be a screen door on the cabin so we can have the door open in the morning and evening.

I don't usually write reviews, but this stay was too nice not to share. A clean, well-maintained log cabin in lovely surroundings. Beautiful river walk. I had a lovely stay and truly felt like I got away from my busy life for a few days.

The property owner is very friendly, and was quite considerate of our privacy. The grounds around the cabin could have used a little upkeep. The walk to the river was groomed and it was a short pretty walk. We spent a whole afternoon lounging in the water, very peaceful. The cabin itself was ok. We felt a little like we were intruding. Lots of signs up everywhere of things we weren't allowed to do or touch. Wifi existed on site but no password provided. Wood burning stove but not allowed to use it. Food in the pantry with another sign to not touch (not that we would have), but we felt a little awkward. Beautiful claw foot tub but its been elevated several inches off the floor. I am only 5 feet tall so this was not an easy climb in or out when wet. I wouldn't think this would work for someone with mobility or range of motion issues. All in all it was ok, but i have stayed at many of these types of accommodations, this one was on the high side as far as cost. Bang for buck, i wouldn't recommend.

Really nice cabin, small but comfortable. It has everything you need for your stay. Private location, very close to river. We spend most of our time by the river or by the fire pit.
Big plus is close location to Calgary (less than 2 hours drive).

We were looking for a quiet weekend getaway. We saw that there was no internet or t.v. either. This worked well for our needs. Nice walk down to the river and a campfire pit just for us.
Have already recommended this location to our friends.

This was a perfect little cabin get away. I would recommend to anyone who wants a few cozy nights in. The river access is very pretty!

Daniel was a wonderful host with a peaceful and private setting, and a perfect little escape from the busyness of d2d life. Just as advertised, clean and tidy, exactly as expected. Really enjoyed walking the trail to sit by the river and listen to the water flow and the birds chirp. We were greeted by Daniel shortly after our arrival with a few pleasantries and overview of some house rules, then left to enjoy the space on our own before catching us just before we headed out on check out day. Lovely place, would definitely go back, and highly recommended.

We booked this kinda at the last minute.
Located a short drive from Sundre and Snake hill hiking/walking area is really nice to do for the day .
The log cabin is so cute and well stocked.
We went for some R & R with our dogs and did some short walks around the cabin area played some games .
We would put this on our list to return.
There is also a main house on the it looks really nice also to rent .
The stars were so clear , and nicely disconnected for a few days.
I would also love to go out and stay in the summer and see it then too.
Thank you for a wonderful stay and I love all the decor.
And the doors to the bathroom .

This property was all that was advertised. Clean and cozy. Close to Sundre and a quick 20 minute drive for groceries etc. Although the weather didn’t cooperate the cabin was warm and comfortable. In floor heating in the bathroom and throughout the cabin added to the comfort level. Beautiful nature walk around the property and down to the James River. Recommended stay!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is scenic and very quiet. The cabin was well equipped, cozy, and very clean. Daniel was a very responsive host. At night we could see the stars and milky way like we haven't seen in years. Thanks for hosting us Daniel. We'll be back.

We had a great time at the log cabin, it was great to disconnect from the city, everything was lovely and neat. We enjoyed walking to river and our 2 year old son had lot of fun playing with the dog outside in the backyard. Daniel was a great host, very friendly and answered all of our questions. We highly recommend this place :)

This property is an excellent place to relax! No tv so you can spend time reading or playing games. We had a fire and we went for walks by the river. We will certainly return!

Stayed for 2 nights and it was wonderful, has everything you need and was very clean. Close to the river (just a 5 min walk). The bed was a little hard for our liking but honestly it was not a big deal as this place was great and the property manager answered any questions we had right away. We definitely will be back and maybe even rent out the house next time with the kids! Surpassed our expectations for sure!

Fabulous cabin. Impeccably clean; beautiful lay out with an open concept. Even in floor heating to make it super cozy! Everything worked perfectly - nice stove and fridge and a microwave, toaster, kettle. Great washroom with a fabulous composting toilet and a great antique shower/tub. The place has its own outdoor fire pit & the cabin is tucked right just as you get down to the buildings - fairly private but there is a main house and other cabins for rent. The properties only 5 mins west of 22 hwy just about 10- 12 mins north of Sundre. No TV/internet so prepare if you need to be connected - there is LTE cellphone signal and at times 5G.
Daniel is a fabulous host - will recommend Stark Ranch to family and friends. The freezer was stocked with frozen meat products for sale from their neighbour Anchor 7 Ranch for the ultimate field to fork dining - no carbon footprint in those steaks! Enjoy your stay!

Lovely quiet place to enjoy nature. Comfortable and welcoming.
My only complaint is that I couldn't have a bath so had to have a shower instead. Would definitely come back again.

We fell in love with the cabin, quiet and it is the perfect place to disconnect yourself from the city. The only down thing about this place is not being able to use the wood stove, it's one of the reasons we booked the place.

This cabin is located on a small ranch seated right on the edge of a small river. There are plenty of trees surrounding the area. The trail is good for a short, easy hike down to the river and around in among the trees.
The owner offers firewood for a fee. There is wonderful local beef in the freezer for purchase. The shopping centers are quite a way off; this beef option is great if one just brings produce and snacks with them.
The cabin is a one-room, plus a bathroom. It is equipped with all one needs. It is cozy and warm; the electric heat is more than enough for this wonderful cabin.
No distractions, a great place to relax, write and paint. And snuggles with your loved one.

It is everything what was promised.
Thank you very much Daniel for sharing this beautiful, quite and a peace of mind place.
