About this house rental
Lake house located in a quiet slew on Lewis Smith Lake (Smith Lake) in Jasper, AL 5 minutes from Duncan Bridge and Arley, AL.
Come stay for a vacation home getaway with all the comforts of home plus fishing, grilling with family or friends, and playing in the sun! Large deck for the views and relaxing. Includes pier/ boat dock. 2BD 2BA - 1 King and 1 queen bed. Living room includes big screen tv with video streaming apps. Home offers all standard appliances including washer and dryer.
Lower boat traffic through the Smith Lake channel tunnel to the property adds for a safer swimming area than the main body of the lake. Property is located 1 or 2 minutes from Duncan Bridge Marina by vehicle or about 5 to 10 by water. Evan’s Marina is located in the same slew as this property. Check with Duncan, Squirrels, and Evan’s Marina for pontoon boat rentals and boat launch.
Great cellphone service for AT&T and Verizon. Has WIFI high speed internet.
Most boats and all personal watercraft fit through the Smith Lake tunnel for Curry Hwy however, we would suggest not booking and asking first if you have a boat with a tall non foldable rack. There is year round deep (approximately 30 ft) water in the slew. The tunnel itself has markers on the side placed by water patrol to let you know the depth. Happy to answer any questions and give tips for those that worry. We have been going through in our Glastron ski boat, pontoon boat, and Chris Craft ski boat for years.

Beautiful home, wonderful hosts. Highly recommend and would visit again!!

The house on the lake was as described. It was very comfortable and nicely decorated. It had everything needed for a long weekend getaway.
Cons: Although not the owner's fault: The driveway and property are on a very steep incline. On our vehicle we have a camera that gives us a front view also I am glad we had that pulling in a few times because of the angle it was hard to judge where you were at. We brought our dogs (we were there for a dog show) and it was very difficult to take them out sometimes to go potty because there were two "neighborhood" large dogs that kept coming over and barking at them. I was afraid they would fight so I would take mine back inside and wait until no sight of the "neighborhood" dogs. But other than that, my 2 boys wore themselves out swimming in the lake.

Great place. Comfortable close to town. Quite little place will stay again!

We really enjoyed the historic sites in Jasper, and was close enough to enjoy Cullman. The home was a cozy two bedroom cottage. The only thing was missing was a table we could eat together and play games. I would suggest getting a card table with 4 chairs which can be folded up for space. We had a good time and enjoyed exploring the area.

Please blow the driveway of acorns and rocks.
Please blow the decks of SO MANY leaves

This property is dangerous due to the severe driveway. The driveway was covered in acorns and gravel when we arrived. We had to work over an hour to get a pathway to get in the house. There is no inside table to enjoy a meal together. The beds are old and warm out as is the sofas in the tv room. Refrigerator is old with rust in the freezer.
The dock is unusable for boating.
This place is only worth maybe $50 a night. I was given a number to call that was the x huusband of the owner. He explained he was no longer responsible because of the divorce and why was I calling him?????
I want half of my money returned. Worst rental I have ever rented. I hurt my knee walking to the house se when we arrived! Please advise about my refund.

Very nicely updated. Loved the screened in porch! Really loved the fact that it not only had internet, it was good internet. Super convenient to stores and restaurants.

The location is good, lake is beautiful. The house could have been a little cleaner. The full bed needs replaced , 2 people end up like a taco. Also for anyone bringing reactive dogs beware there is a very sweet but annoying dog that lives next door that roams around unleashed. That said it is the perfect location, the lake is beautiful and quiet. The screen in porch was wonderful.

The house was a perfect spot for our short family weekend getaway. The kitchen came equipped with everything we needed. The screened-in porch was great during those rainy afternoon showers. We brought a blow up mattress for our fifth person and there was plenty of room for it in the living room (we brought our own blankets and sheets for this). Hosts were quick to respond to any questions we had.
The towels were a little mildew smelling but nothing a little white vinegar couldn’t fix. Great time and hope to come back again!

This is our 2nd time staying here. Great property. Lots of wonderful outdoor space. Fantastic screened in porch. We will be back!

The house was very clean and well put together. The driveway is especially steep. Its a semicircle driveway which makes it easier to navigate the parking, but note... if you are towing a boat or trailer, there's room in the driveway to park, but getting out is a little scary depending on your driving skills and type of vehicle. Best if you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle. We do not. If we had it to do over, we'd park the boat on the gravel at the top of the property.

I’m going to start by saying, this is the best smelling rental I have ever stayed in. We rented for spring break and it turned out to be quite cold. We were unable to do most of the things we had planned on doing. It was so quite and peaceful, we didn’t even mind. Bed was comfy. Kitchen was stocked with all we needed to cook. Grills were available. The property looks different outside than in the photos. The owners are upgrading things outside. I will say, this rental would not be great for someone with mobility issues. Smith Lake in general is probably that way.

The home was clean and had everything we needed. My family enjoyed fishing on the pier. Parking on the steep slope was scary at first, but got better after the initial shock. We really enjoyed this house.

In addition to my prior review, I would like to acknowledge the ongoing improvements and maintenance that the owners are investing in the property. It’s nice to see how much they care about it! For prior visitors, the kitchen is much better supplies and stocked with utensils, pots and pans…we were able to cook a thanksgiving meal for four easily with what was provided. We have made our own ‘donations’ of glasses for future guests (which may include us!)

My family and I had a wonderful time at this beautifully remodeled property. We spent a lot of time paddle boarding off the dock with boards we got from a nearby rental company who delivered them to the house, as well as eating outdoors overlooking the water and playing games on the screened-in porch. The kitchen is well-equipped and there is an abundance of both bath and beach towels. The only thing to note is that if you are there in cooler weather and need to eat indoors, there is only seating for two at the kitchen table. The place was recently remodeled and is lovely and very clean. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would definitely come back!

The house itself and the lake are lovely. We spent most evenings on the back porch overlooking the lake and cooking on the grill. As has been stated before, the steepness of the driveway and yard can be an issue for some (even just getting in the driveway), but we navigated it just fine. New concrete has been added to provide another place to park near the front door. We have already booked a return visit and appreciate the opportunity to bring all family members, including the four-legged ones.

There’s still some work to be done by the owners contractor. No toaster in the house. Internal bedroom door doesn’t close all the way. No dining table/area inside for the 4 of us. No closet space to hang clothes in bedroom. Very steep incline entrance for us older folks with bad knees. Screened in back porch very nice. Living room, bathrooms and kitchen were nice.

The house had a cozy feel but plenty of room for 2 couples. Nice large decks to have diner, nice supply of linens & towels. We enjoyed the screened porch at night! Only negative is they need a handyman to make a visit on a few minor items. The tunnel fit our 19’ Stingray 186 center console boat. But overall we would stay again and the owner was very accommodating!

Steep Entry
Upon arriving at the property we immediately realized the entry to the property was a steep concrete sidewalk with no handrails. This was not pictured nor was this mentioned in the ad. We were very disappointed and left the property the following morning. We had paid for a six night stay. No refund was offered!!
Very disappointed, would not recommend this property!!

Horrible location
The description of this property to access the lake is deceitful. You have to go through a box culvert that is only 8 feet wide that is under a state highway and varies in height depending on water level! On both sides of the culvert it is very narrow and lots of rocks!! We tried to go through it once and scratched our pontoon boat. We called the property owner to tell him we couldn’t stay because we couldn’t access the lake and he said “anybody can drive through that tunnel”. Told him we wanted our money back and look for another place and he said “NO,The description explained you had a tunnel to drive through”. We went to the local marina to try and dock our boat there and they said “we know the guy and they said this happens all of the time”. We wound up finding another place to rent and just left this property. Public service announcement. Do not rent this property!!!!

Nice lake getaway
We rented this for our son's spring break. We had a really nice stay, very clean, and we especially appreciated being able to bring our dog Max who has a very difficult time being without us and is terrified of being boarded. The screened porch and deck were our favorite spots.
Thank you!!

Great place!
Only issue was driveway, not very easy for my car. But, it was a BMW 330i that has been lowered, so it should be fine for any car that's not too low to the ground. We were fine parking across the street though. Overall was very nice and super quiet!

Nice waterfront house on quiet part of lake
Enjoyed our stay at this Smith Lake property. It was a good size for our family of 4 and the listing description was very accurate and helpful. The house is on a slough section of the lake, separated from the main lake body by Curry Hwy. with tunnel access to the lake, so this made for safe swimming off the swim platform and no boat traffic at all times of the day. We rented a pontoon boat and it was easy to navigate the boat through the tunnel under the highway if you have any boating experience at all. The house was well furnished - towels, hotel-style toiletries, dishes, tv’s in every room, both a gas grill and a charcoal grill. The screened-in back porch is really nice a a great place to start each morning. There is a local grocery store about 4 miles away and very convenient.

Very clean and nice water front property. Almost everything was as expected. There were a couple of minor items I feel I should address. The lower portion of the inside of the dish washer is missing a wheel but the dishwasher still functions. The table on the enclosed deck is missing a screw and other screws will not tighten securely. The inside of the refrigerator door cannot be used as all of the containers which attach to the door have been removed. We had a very good time.

The perfect getaway
Perfect for a quick trip to the lake. House was cozy and clean. Beds were comfortable. Screened in porch was the best. All around great trip. We will be back.

Just amazing!!!
Lakefront on Smith lake! Huge dock for fishing and relaxing plus a screened room on back of home. Plenty of eating areas and this home was spotless and meticulously taken care of. We felt at home the entire week! We will definitely be back this Summer.

Exactly as described and cleaner than any other VRBO I have ever stayed
The location was great. The screened porch area was awesome.
The steps to go down to the dock were a little steep for me, but my husband and son navigated them with no problem at all.
The bed was comfortable. (1st time ever in a rental) Everything that we needed (and then some) was in the kitchen.
We will be staying again. The only downside was we didn't book enough days. We should have stayed a whole week!

The place is exactly what you want in a lake stay. Right on the water and super cute and cozy home with tons of deck and grill and screened porch with cable and internet. We can't wait to go back

Spring Break Getaway
Wanted to get away for a few days during spring break and this property was perfect. Spent a lot of time on the deck reading and enjoying the view of the lake. Ate all our meals at the house and lacked for nothing in the well appointed kitchen.
Everything about the house and property was as advertised, had no surprises. Great location about 5 minutes from the best small grocery store you will find, with just about any other store you would need within 10 or 15 minutes.
Could not have gone better.

We were never informed of ongoing work, nor was told we would not be able to sit on floating dock until the day we arrived. As advertised, you can see clearly by this picture we should have been able to access the floating dock, but were not able to du.e to ongoing work that took place while staying. Very steep access to cabin. Tvs did not work could not get Netflix in Mstr. bedroom as Owner stated was available, we called the Owner regarding the TVs but he just said that someone must have messed them up with no assistance offered. We left a day early due to these issues. Asked Owner for last night of stay refund and he said. NO!!! Would appreciate a refund for last night. We left on Thurs. 10/14/21 at 9:AM and called Owner so he could send his Housekeeper to clean in case someone else wanted to rent it.Thank you, Ken and Alice Morton
