About this house rental
Welcome to the Treehouse on Possum Kingdom Lake
Nestled among the trees in the gated community of the Cliffs is this unique and completely renovated lakefront cabin with expansive views of the lake and the natural surroundings. Tucked away in Neeley's Slough, this private residence is surrounded by canopies of trees and natural cliff formations.
Once you make your way down the enchanting staircase to the treehouse, you will notice your own private dock just a few levels below the house. Dock your boat for easy access during your stay or just jump right off the dock onto the beautiful lake. The dock is a brand new Trex composite wood dock.
**Upon booking, you will receive a welcome message with a pdf version of our Welcome Guide. Please make sure to read in order to learn how to check-in and enjoy your overall experience.**
This house is not a perfect house, but it is the perfect little lake house. If you are looking for a perfect building where everything is new, this is not the location. It is an original lake house cottage that although recently completely remodeled, it is still full of charm with some imperfections.
There are two kayaks currently available at the location for your complimentary use. You can also bring your own kayaks, paddleboards, or use some of the flotation devices stored at the house. Miles of calm waters in this no-wake zone allow for plenty of fun exercise and unbelievable morning and evening adventures.
This location offers one of the best fishing spots in all of PK. Catch Striper, Bass, Drum, Catfish, or perch. Cast a net to catch bait, or even bow fish right off the dock.
Prefer to golf? Enjoy one of the most challenging and beautiful golf courses in Texas at the Cliffs Resort golf course inside of this gated community and just 5 minutes away.
Inside the house, you will be greeted by a wall of windows with amazing views of the water and the hills. Enjoy the sunsets, sunrises, or watching all of the wildlife around you.
Newly remodeled with hand-scraped oak flooring, granite countertops, hand-painted ceilings, and shiplap walls through-out the place. There is a master room below the main floor with its own private entrance and bathroom. The two twin beds and trundles are in the main living area. Please see pictures.
This unique location has lots of steps, so please be aware of this. It is also in the middle of a natural and wild tree canopy and hillside. There are naturally bugs and spider webs at night to deal with. The trees keep this location several degrees cooler than the sun-exposed locations, providing plenty of shade to enjoy during the day.
There is Wi-Fi and cable TV available for you to enjoy.
Please be aware that this is not a party location. Strict late-night noise ordinance is enforced out of respect to our neighbors. Respectful guests and their families will enjoy the unique location and special appeal of the Treehouse.
**Smoking is strictly prohibited, please be aware that we are in a high risk area for fires.
*** Most dogs welcomed except any pitbull or mixed pitbull breed. Sorry, but no cats.

I am new to this bnb. The pictures were not accurate. The stairs had rails that needed maintenance. The stairs to the bedroom was narrow with some treads being done with a 2x4 instead of 2x6. Only 2 plugs worked. I called the contact number because we couldn't get the ceiling fan working. I was told that he would call maintenance. Which was a no show. Both rooms were musty and i saw mold in both air conditioners.

Had a great time—- great location secluded and really in the trees .. spent time fishing watching deer and fire flies at dusk.. really cool lake house will be back

This is truly a fisherman’s haven. I am not a fisherman (woman), but my late husband was. He and my son spent many days (all coasts) fishing with “the guys”. If my husband had had the chance to build his own cove, this would have been it. The stairs are not for the faint of heart (literally), and you do have to be ok neighboring with spiders. But the place was perfect in every other way. (My husband’s definition of perfect— simple, clean, having all the necessities and not overdone.) If your goal is fishing and enjoying the peace of water, earth and sky at your doorstep, I believe this is the place for you.

Beautiful home. Very Cozy. Has everything you need to have an enjoyable stay. The stairs are a workout! Be cautious, especially at night. Pack light or small bags (because of the stairs). I think small children or older adults would struggle. The dock was a nice place to spend the day. They had Kayaks and some life vests. I think I saw a fishing pole as well, but we didn't use it. Neighbors seemed quiet and respectful. However, sound carries in this area so be mindful of them as well. Overall, nice experience. Would come back

My husband, our son and I enjoyed a few days of fishing on PK. The cabin was right on the water in a quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed fishing off the dock and just enjoyed being outside. This cabin is very aptly named, be prepared to climb several stairs to get the benefit of the seclusion. The cabin was well stocked with bedding and towels. The kitchen had the essentials to cook breakfast and supper. We enjoyed our stay, lots of wildlife around the area, several deer, ducks and all kinds of birds to watch. Most of our day was spent fishing on the lake. Our host was quick to respond to any questions we had, we do appreciate that.

Property was like described, the 79 stairs and hand rails could use some improvements! We only lost one sandal! The 2 story seperate bedroom house was awesome. The light switches could use lables. The listing could maybe be worded a little differently about all of the stairs and spiders. I understand why they put that as the last little note. We stayed for 2 nights and drove our boat up to the house several times The water never got less than 8 feet from the bottom of my boat so about 10 feet deep and only for 40 yards or so. The dock was super nice and made out of the plastic deck wood so i didnt worry about it scratching the boat. We dis have to tie the boat to the tree on shore because the dock didnt have any cleats.

We arrived in the dark, so the stairs were a little treacherous. Thank you for the lights along them though, that helped! Waking up to the beauty around the house was amazing!! The twin beds are quite creaky, and the mattresses could be updated. Overall super fun weekend!

The property was nice and comfortable. The access was down steep stairs. Not for older or handicapped. Storage of bas boat and charging difficult. Would not recommend for bringing a boat. Great for a quiet getaway.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the treehouse. The house was cozy, being nestled down in the trees was a plus. There is a pump that is a little bit noisy underneath the single seperate bedroom. The staircase to get to the house is not for the weak. If you have a lot of stuff to carry be prepared. We were in a summer drought so the water level was low, which made getting to the water difficult.
This is a great place to just disappear if you want to. It’s not very visible from the road. The directions were precise so there were no issues there.

GREAT overall property
Cannot say enough wonderful things about both the property and the owners. It was a beautiful and clean home with countless things for our kids to enjoy. Owners had excellent communication and were SO easy to work with. BONUS - great place to stay if your family is participating in a baseball tourney at nearby Rocker B Ranch.

PK Memorial Weekend
Property not well described. Numerous steep stairs to get to
treehouse lodge and boat ramp. The house was not well cleaned. Construction next door. Very difficult to get auto and 28' trailer down driveway. No info. book own useful tips.
Would not return to this property.

Good, casual weekend spot
This property was as described. Cute and clean- good location on the lake. Dock would benefit from an update and needs a few cleats installed to properly tie up a boat. Nice morning spot for paddle boarding and kids to fish.

Cute property
We loved our stay at the treehouse. If you’re wanting a getaway and love the outdoors, this is a great place. If you don’t like tracking up 51 stairs to your car and another 49 to the water, then maybe it isn’t for you. We didn’t mind the stairs, but could see how it could be dangerous for very young kids. My mom stayed there with us. She is 73 and had no issues. We loved having coffee down by the water. I even rode on the paddle board. We were originally going to have 6 people stay there because it was listed as a 2 bedroom. There is 1 bedroom downstairs and a studio type room on the top floor. Technically, there were enough mattresses as each of the twin beds have a trundle. We just felt it was too crowded for us. It fit 4 of us comfortably. I would definitely recommend this adorable and unique property.

Enjoyed the Treehouse
We had a great time, and the property was really neat. Only concerns were there were lots of bugs in the cabin, and it wasn’t super clean, considering the high cleaning fee. Overall a lot of fun though.

Great private lake house
Check in/check out process was easy. The property manager provided a detailed guide about the amenities and property. We wanted a dock for our boat and this was perfect-close access to marina and Hell’s Gate. Had everything we needed for our family of 4.

The Lake
Well, the accommodations are great! It didn’t say in the listing on how many stairs there is. It didn’t say in the listing the house and the bedroom were 2 different places. Parking with a boat at night was difficult with the trees. We are pretty sure my wife broke her tailbone by falling twice on it going down to the dock. Black and bruised still. Lots of spiders everywhere, could use a good spray around all the decks. The dock needs a huge update bad. The location is great though, the place needs a huge update and safer stairs but overall Lake PK is awesome and we had fun.

Memorable weekend
We had an amazing time! The property is beautiful and unique. It was great to get out of the city and enjoy nature. Water view was very tranquil. Even caught some good size fish! Slept great and plenty of room for all. Our teenaged boys had a blast too! Loved it!

Great Place with Plenty of Room, But those Coffee Cups
There are two separate floors with plenty of space upstairs for multiple people, kids. We loved the location in the gated community right on the water. The stairs are many, yet aren't as steep nor dangerous as the pictures show (probably would not take small children, our youngest is 11). Perfect for a weekend getaway. The only issue is the coffee cups, they are not big enough to fit a cup of the provided Kureg coffee (obviously this is a small complaint and should not make a difference in one booking a trip).

This was an amazing find as we were looking for a quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of city life. This property came as advertised.

Surprised
My husband enjoyed the fishing off the dock. The interior of the cabin is comfortably decorated in a fisherman theme. The stairs are a bit daunting for us in our early 70's. And one section is quite dangerous. After descending the maze of ramps, landings, and 50 steps we arrived at the front door. A gas grill with ample supply of propane greeted us and we enjoyed this outside space often. Loved all the wildlife! My husband is a professional contractor and he was dismayed to see the dangerous construction of the upper balcony. He did not even recommend the 800 lb limit on it. Needless to say, we did not use that space. This is not a two bedroom cabin. There is only one private sleeping space and it must be accessed from the outside only along a dangerous set of open stairs. We would recommend only young, light- weight adults to rent this cozy little house on the cliff.

My husband and I drove in from Austin to meet friends for a weekend of fishing and kayaking. This was truly an escape from the city. No need for electronics, we were outside from sun up until sundown. We saw lots of wildlife. The fishing was great and the water was calm and peaceful. The stairs could be challenging for some but we mastered them the first day. The owners were communicative. We would most certainly stay again.

We stayed here with another couple on a trip to PK Lake to do some boating. The property is cozy, clean and had all the amenities we needed to enjoy a weekend away from the city. We dock is on the water is on a quite cove of the lake in a no wake zone, we enjoyed morning coffee and evening cocktails to spectacular sunsets. Plenty of wildlife viewing as we saw great blue herons , deer and some fawns down getting drinks from the water. Owner responded to all our questions within minutes, and was very helpful throughout our stay, we would definitely stay here again.

Fishing Getaway
The location of this house is what makes it unique, it truly feels like a tree house. The trees provide shade and attract wildlife. We saw squirrels, raccoons, many different types of birds, and lots of deer. We also saw two bobcats across the slough and and a Great Horned owl. We spent most of our time fishing off the dock. My husband caught a 15 pound yellow cat and 6 pound channel cat, which we released. Lots of bass action in the slough but we didn’t have any luck with them. The house suited our needs for a fishing getaway. The stairs are challenging but the set leading down to the house are very stable. The only concerns we had are the stairs from the house to the dock, and the balcony off the front of the house. Both are sketchy. We would rent again for the fishing and the wildlife.
