About the property
Highfield is a holiday home in one of the most spectacular locations in Salcombe. Nestled into the valley above North Sands and giving the air of total seclusion, it is also within walking distance of the beach, the famous Winking Prawn restaurant and the town itself.
Surrounded by landscaped gardens, south facing and with views of the sea and over the beautiful North Sands valley, this spacious five-bedroom house sleeps up to ten people comfortably. It has three double rooms with king size beds, one of which can be split into two singles if requested, a twin room and a bunk room.
Downstairs, a large hallway leads to a cosy sitting room/TV room with double doors taking you out onto the lawn. There’s also a study, a utility room and a downstairs WC. Meanwhile, the heart and soul of the house is in the large kitchen/dining room, which has tri-folding doors opening out onto a patio that runs the length of the property and really makes the most of those awe-inspiring views.
Deliciously private and with lots of space, Highfield is perfect for whiling away summer days in the sunshine, but it would also make an idyllic bolthole to watch the natural world go by in the winter months. It has space for up to three cars on the driveway. Highfield is very much a destination in its own right.
Recommended for: Highfield is perfect for families.
Favourite feature: The view of the sea from the kitchen through tri-folding doors onto the patio.
About a holiday in Salcombe
North Sands sits on the outskirts of Salcombe, a historic fishing and sailing town that has become famous as a holiday destination because of its natural beauty and its local charm. Blessed with more beaches than you can visit in a week, a jaw-dropping estuary and magnificent walks along the South West Coast Path, it’s also filled with local traditions. For example, there’s the Town Regatta in August, excellent sailing opportunities, its own gin and ice cream factories, unparalleled clotted cream fudge, a magnificent bakery, and restaurants such as Captain Flint’s and The Winking Prawn (a few minutes’ walk from the house) that have practically become a rite of passage for visitors.
Please note that for 2022 the property offers a 7KW charging point for electric vehicles.

A lovely house, that has everything you need, and all items of good quality. The prosecco & crisps was a lovely touch which we thoroughly enjoyed after a long journey and also grateful for the milk. The house has a wonderful happy feel to it and the views are amazing. We loved staying here and can’t wait to go back.

We couldn't have asked for a better house and location for our week at the seaside. We were a group of 6 adults and 3 young kids. The house was spotless and had everything we needed. Perfect distance from North Sands (5 min walk down the hill) and a bit of a longer trek into town. The view cannot be beat. It's not quite pictured well, but there is a separate office on the main floor and laundry room, both of which served us as rooms for babies to sleep in travel cots. The bedrooms were all very large and comfortable. I've already sent this listing to a few friends- this is definitely a place we will come again :)

Great location, close to the beach, Excellent property overall, very well appointed and equipped. No expense spared.
We had young children in our party and although the bunk bed room had a blackout blind, it would have been useful to have blackout curtains/blinds in the other bedrooms where children were sleeping.
We enjoyed lovely sunny weather for our stay and it would have been useful to have some cooling fans available.
The recycling arrangements were poor, although that's obviously the fault of the local authority, not the property owners/managers. To only be able to recycle glass with everything else having to go into one wheelie bin isn't good, especially with a party size of 10! Ally was helpful in collecting full bin bags which wouldn't fit in the wheelie bin at the end of our stay.
The access drive to the property is very steep and not for the faint hearted when driving or walking!

The property itself is excellent, but was unfortunately not that clean when we arrived, which was a shame, otherwise it was well furnished and in a great location.
