About this house rental
Just 8-10 minutes across the Neuse River Bridge to the attractions of New Bern, "Nana's Nest" is one of the original homes in Bridgeton, built c. 1925. The 3 bedroom house is situated on Bridgeton’s main street, which is lined by sidewalks making a short and easy walk to Neuse River access, a park, churches, and Bridgeton Harbor Marina. A longer walk or short drive will take you to J.L. Kirkman's Antique Mall, convenience stores, fuel, a pizza shop, and Nelson Blueberry Farm! This home's location will provide a quiet respite after a day spent exploring historic New Bern's shops, artwork, fishing and boating, or North Carolina's Crystal Coast. Atlantic Beach is only about an hour’s drive away. The home boasts many original features including a parlor that provides a quiet place to relax and read, catch up on work, or to visit with friends. Enjoy family time in the open plan dining and living room or take in the sunset from the big front porch. Off street parking is available with plenty of room for a trailer or boat. This home provided the perfect place for three friends who ran away from homes, husbands and pets to relax. It's well-appointed and clean, and the owner was available via text to answer questions. I highly recommend.

I needed a quiet place to relax, but close to 'things to do'. This was perfect! I could drive to New Bern (less than 5 mins) walk/shop/tour... then come 'home' to this quiet, peaceful, lovely house. It was so nice to have air conditioning controls on both floors, what a nice touch. I also enjoyed the porch of the mornings... you can see the river and watch the birds... it was wonderful. Thank you so much.

The house was super clean and nice. We enjoyed the openness of the rooms and the deck outside. We brought 2 small boats and had plenty of room to park in the driveway off the grass. Everything we needed!

We only had two nights as we were in for a wedding, and spent most of the time away from the house, however, it was a very nice, calming place to come to after a first day off long driving and a second day of walking through New Bern and the wedding!

I absolutely fell in love with this property the moment I pulled into the driveway. Walking through the home, I was filled with so much excitement and joy looking at the the upgraded touches that corresponded beautifully with the original historical character. Historical furnishings and personal touches throughout the home were a wonderful touch. The neighbors in passing were very friendly while we sat on the front porch enjoying toasty beverages into the evening. The home was very clean down to the finest detail. I truly felt at home here.

It was a mother daughter‘s trip and we needed a relaxing place and that’s exactly what we got at Nana’s house! The neighborhood was very quiet and safe and we had a good view of the river! The house was well equipped with everything we needed and was spacious for the four of us. We love that it was a short drive to New Bern but out of the hustle and bustle! We will definitely be back.

Amazing host and beautiful manicured lawn with friendly neighbors.
We were visiting New Bern for our family reunion. We arrived at the property around 5 pm. The lawn was beautiful and the house was just as beautiful. We had to rush so the first night we left around 6 pm and arrived back at the house after midnight. Around 4:30 am, I received a frightening call from a relative that an 18-wheeler reared them, flipping their Mercedes Sprinter van at least 4 times and blood was everywhere. After calming down, all 10 passengers made it out alive. My relative, the driver is professional and he managed to steer away from trees... sacrificing his shoulders and arm. He broke his arm and dislocated his shoulders and needed emergency surgery. My brother-in-law and ex-husband ( ret disabled vets) immediately jumped in and rescued the family by traveling to Petersburg, Va to bring them back to New Bern. . That left me here to carry items back and forth.., the family reunion had to go on. I needed an extra day so I emailed the host and before I could blink my eye, she responded and adjusted my stay. An angel watching over us, my brother and law, and my ex-husband made it back to New Bern safe with family members and were able to relax an additional night without worries.
I want to thank the host. The house is beautiful, and well taken care of and it felt like home. We loved every room and enjoyed the deck. Thanks again for allowing The Heidelberg Family to carry on with our reunion without worry. If you plan to visit New Bern, do yourself a favor and stay in this home. It's beautiful, the neighbors are friendly, the host is amazing and the house(home) is a treasure.

Perfect Getaway!
My sisters and I rented this house so we could visit another sister who lives in New Bern. The house was beautiful, clean and cozy. It had everything we needed for a fun, comfortable stay. Loved every minute of it. Our hostess was great at communicating with us and answered any questions we had. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to visit the New Bern/Bridgeton area. You can't go wrong with this place!!

Cute, cozy and tons of character
We really enjoyed our 3 night stay. It offered all the conveniences we needed, the charm of an old home but safety and cleanliness of a new home. Would certainly stay again.

Clean and quite
Our overall experience was we were pleased with our stay. Our only complaints were there was no toilet paper in the house, there was only one tv in the house, and the paint was peeling in the bathtub. On the positive side, the house was clean and very well maintained(less the tub). The beds were comfortable and the outdoor sitting area was very relaxing. The overall value was very good, I would stay at this property again.

Easter Weekend
Overall, lovely old home, very clean, comfortable beds. No dishwasher and very old appliances, especially gas stove. The oven was quite scary to operate. The pictures make it seem like the water view is right across the street, but very difficult to see the water, but can walk to park one block, but can’t view from front porch

Fun Family wedding in New Bern
Needs more or better seating on the front porch. only 2 of our family could sit and enjoy the view. It's a great porch for sitting. each night we came home, there was a roach in the kitchen. One was in the oven when my daughter opened it; the other was found by me dead on the kitchen floor. Someone had either unknowingly stepped on it earlier, or it had eaten some poison. This was a little alarming, but not too much because my mother in law has been battling a roach problem for awhile. Aside from that little issue, it was an awesome stay, and just a Perfect little trip into New Bern for all of our wedding activities!

wedding week
We had rented this home and the house next door for the week before our son's wedding...Early part of the week had the bride & groom, one grandma, 2 groomsmen. 2nd half had moved grandma out, and 2 bridesmaids in. Originally my other son, wife, and grandson were to stay - but they opted to have some "relative" peace & quiet in the hotel instead. The house wasperfect for all of the last minuted preparations and crafting leading up to the big day. Also, the close poximity to New Bern (a beautiful town) was very helpful. Such a spacious home! Welcome bag assembly was in the den, crafting in the dining room area. Everyone was pleased with the house - and it helped being together between the 2 houses. The home was spotless and well stocked - we couldn't have asked for anything more! Would definitely rent again if we find ourselves in the area! Thank You!

Comfortable Stay Near the Water
Nice and quaint historic home within walking distance of the water and a park for children. My wife and I stayed with our two children for 10 days and I would recommend. Only about 6 minutes from downtown New Bern also.

A perfect base for exploration
This is a wonderful old house that has been meticulously cared for with feel of a past era but full of modern conveniences. The kitchen is well equipped which made cooking while isolating easy. The park that is three doors up was great for watching the sun set over the Neuse River. Bridgeton is close to everything yet far enough away to have real peace and quiet while on walks around the neighborhood. We used it as a base for exploring that part of the state.

4th of July holiday
We had a great time. House was very nice and we were very comfortable. Quiet street, comfortable beds, lovely morning coffee on the front porch. Close enough to New Bern to explore, watched fireworks across the water down the block at the park, enjoyed sitting on the back deck in the afternoon, started our day cooking a delicious breakfast, found some treasures at antique stores around the area, lots of amenities at the house. Looking forward to coming back.
Thank you for letting us visit.

Good House for our weekend
This location worked well for our weekend. Close drive to Stillwater Kayaks Rentals and downtown New Bern. Home was quaint and adequate. Issue with the toilet not flushing well. Added water to bowl during flush worked to solve. Not sure why, because the water pressure was great.
