Beautiful setting, very clean and welcoming home to stay in. Really didn’t want to leave. Had everything we needed for our stay. The property is as pictured. We were able to cycle out from here to get our bike ride in. Beautiful cycling area with quiet nice smooth roads. If you can navigate steps you will love staying here

We had a great time at the cabin. Very clean. Loved the fireplace. Russ was a great host.

We absolutely loved staying here. Everything from the easy to access, close parking to the inner and outer Cabin amenities to the Goregous flowers that adorn the exterior. Our Hosts Russ and Stacy were so accomodating and friendly it was like meeting up with old friends. Dixie their Lovely, gentle Golden greated us with squeals of delight every day and basked in the sunshine with us as we enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. Our location was mere minutes to delicious restaurants, antique shops, wineries, shoreline and so much more. The beds and pillows were so comfy we slept like logs every night. AC upstairs and downstairs was so nice to come "home" to after a long day sighseeing in the summer heat. I cannot say enough about how lovely this cabin and its owners are. A scenic drive from Milwaukee, we 100% recommend this hidden gem! 10 out of 10!

Perfect cabin for my husband and me as we explored Door County. It was clean and convenient to get to all the towns in the peninsula.

We loved everything about this property. It was super cozy, everything we needed was stocked. Our daughter loved playing in the gazebo. The owners were so nice, they even brought a toy over for our daughter. We will be visiting again!

This was such an enjoyable stay. At first we were deterred by the steep stairs but then realized that was part of the old home. Stairs were like that and to change that would have changed the authenticity of it. Hand rails on the sides of the stairs took care of any concerns.
The fireplace and exposed log beams were our favorite parts of the home. We used the fireplace often throughout our stay.
So clean and cozy.
Absolutely loved it.
Thank you so much for the amazing experience.

It is a beautiful cabin. It was amazing coming back to it after a long day of site seeing. Relaxing and sitting by the fire, it doesn't get much better than that. The host was awesome. We had everything we needed..even the extras like french vanilla creamer😉 We would definitely stay here again.

We loved our time at the cabin, it was a very clean place to stay. It was awesome to see pictures and know the history of the cabin, they have done a great job of restoring it and making it into a nice place for people to stay. While we were they we were able to enjoy the Fireplace in the Cabin, if we visit the Door County area again, we will stay again! It was a nice getaway for our honeymoon!

Russ is a detailed, thoughtful individual interested in the comfort and quality of stay for his guests. We asked for something as simple as a Kuerig coffee maker and he let us borrow his wife's no less.
A fire was already built in the fireplace just waiting for us to put a match to the kindling.
The restored 1882 pioneer log home was a viseral and historic treat. Russ is the consumate builder and mechanical engineer. Highly recommend this place to stay ! We hope to return soon.

The cabin is incredible and the Cihlar’s are two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. I’ve stayed here once before on a fishing trip with my dad but knew my wife would love it. We returned over Labor Day and had one of our best vacations ever. Having such a lovely little place to stay was the icing on the cake.

This property is exactly as described and we would definitely return if in this area. Close to Rt 42, 5-10 minutes to town, yet in an area away from everything. Russ is fantastic host and the passion he has for the personally reconstructed cabin is very obvious. It contained everything we needed for our stay. The only disappointment is he wouldn't let Dixie (his wonderful dog) stay with us! ;)

Clean and had all necessary amenities, but still rustic. Beautiful grounds and the fireplace worked great on a few cool nights. Absolutely lovely spot to explore Door County.

Thoroughly Modern Rustic Retreat
We loved the Homestead and appreciated our host taking the time to tell us more about it's history. This cabin has quite a story! It's relocation and refurbishing was obviously done very professionally and with a lot of love. We were impressed with all of the modern amenities including strategically located electrical outlets, lamps, wifi, modern kitchen appliances and well lit bathrooms. Everything was spotlessly clean. Welcoming touches such as a bottle of local wine and a vase of handpicked flowers added to the ambience. We slept well, relaxed well, and ate well. Lots of fun things to do in the vicinity and our host gave us some additional great suggestions. It was a perfect long weekend getaway!

Much cleaner than expected - good location to do "the wine loop" around the peninsula. Had everything we needed: fresh soap, extra blankets, firewood, area pamphlets, toilet paper, utensils and dinnerware, linens, etc
Owner shared some secret exploring gems with us. Wasn't as remote as I thought it would be as its on owners property, but very well done and seemed private enough.

Bed was only bad thing.
For such a beautiful property, we were very disappointed in the bed situation. The bed was old and small, hard, and either had a rubber sheet on it or it was a blow-up mattress. Everything we turned or moved, it made the sound of 2 balloons being rubbed together. Other than the bed, the property was beautiful.

What a great place to relax and enjoy the area. Great attention to detail in the cabin and accommodations. Wonderful conversation with Russ about the history of the cabin and suggestions in the area to see. Highly recommend and will go back.

The property was inviting, clean and appropriate. The stairs to the second floor are a bit steep, making it difficult to navigate heavier bags to the second floor. That is my only concern: property contained wonderful board games, information, coffee, and a nice gift. We would very much consider renting from this host again.
