About this house rental
This is a Private, BEACHFRONT Residence. PROPERTY IS FRONTED BY A HAND BUILT LAVA ROCK WALL. We offer you and your family a True Hawaiian Home, built in 1960. All of the charm still remains, although we have updated the interior, but preserved the integrity and special charm of a true Hawaiian home. Not to mention the added bonus of a huge, well manicured grassy area that leads you to your private beach. Large properties are really hard to find. With so much building going on in Maui, it is hard to find a property that has stayed original. Families love the property, for family fun or sunbathing. Most of the wonderful comments we received about this home, is that,
"This is like having your own private Island!" This home has whole house air-conditioning, individually controlled in each room. A large Lanai is wonderful for family dining or a great BBQ. Gas BBQ is included.
Our uncrowded beach is located approximately 250' from the house. A short walk across the very spacious and impeccably maintained lawn area, and your toes are in the sand! There are many palms trees located on the property. There is also a 100+ year-old banyan tree that adorns the property---a great spot for family photos. Be sure to bring your camera! The lawn area is great for sunbathing, sitting on the lawn in the chaise lounges shaded by the many trees, or playing family games. We provide beach sand chairs, beach towels and miscellaneous children's beach toys, including boogie boards.
The home is built on one level, with beamed ceilings and large windows. A large lanai faces toward the beach. There is a queen bed in the master bedroom and 2 twind beds which can be made into a king bed, if you prefer. There is also a queen sized Murphy bed in the great room, which can sleep 2 more guests.
The yard contains lemon, banana trees and other tropical plants. Our beach gets very little usage, as we are located in a residential area, no big hotels and condo complexes to compete with. A large portion of the lawn area is maintained by our gardeners and some of it is State land and can be shared by others.
The 2-bedroom 2 bath home is adjacent to a 4-bedroom, 2 1/2 home, which is also on our property. Our property is 150 wide, so if you would like to rent both homes, that certainly can be done. If you are interested in renting both of our homes (on the same 150 foot-wide property), this is the deal of a lifetime! The adjacent home can be viewed on VRBO #73607. Both homes combined, you will have 6 BEDROOMS AND 5 BATHROOMS, 2 KITCHENS AND MORE. BOTH HOMES ARE BEACHFRONT, WITH VIEWS OF THE OCEAN. COMBINED, BOTH HOUSE RENTED TOGETHER CAN SLEEP UP TO 16 GUESTS!! PLEASE ASK ABOUT OUR BEST PRICING.
This is a wonderful property for large family reunions, birthdays and anniversaries. Everyone loves it here! These homes have so much to offer.
(SORRY NO WEDDINGS OR RECEPTIONS, THANK YOU)
A short walk down the street will take you to the middle of Kihei Town. You will find shopping centers, restaurants, grocery stores, Post Office, Kaiser, Banks. Fast food such as McDonalds, Taco Bell, and so much moreYou will find just about everything you will need, including food stores.
To the northwest, the West Maui Mountains dominate. Lanai, and other Islands can be seen from the property. The area is also used for surfing, windsurfing, kayaking, paddle-boarding and canoeing. The mornings are usually the best time for a calm ocean and small waves. The trade winds do usually pick up in the afternoon, and cools the air. We do recommend wearing beach shoes for easy walking. Depending on the winds, many things can wash ashore. The sand can also be very hot.
The home is facing to the west, which means you will see some of the most beautiful sunsets from the Island. Depending on the time of the year (usually, between November and March) whales can usually be seen and heard beyond the reef. This beach area is also a common location for large green sea-turtles sleeping and laying their eggs in the sand in front to the house. This is a wonderful experience for the children and adults alike! Please do not touch the turtle while they are asleep on the beach. No strong flashlight at night, they don't like the light and may not return.

We truly enjoyed the beach house! The sunsets were amazing!

We stayed for a week with two of our older sons. Everyone really enjoyed the house, and it was super convenient for groceries, shopping, getting to beaches and activities, etc. We also saw lots of wildlife, including turtles and seals.

Contact with Brian was excellent. Air conditioning was nice. The home was spotless and even smelled freshly cleaned on arrival. The kitchen was well supplied with all we needed. The gas grill was a great amenity. I would recommend using ziploc bags for all your food you have opened. The home is decorated nicely. It's beautiful inside and out. We appreciate the outdoor seating areas and spent a lot of time on the lanai. The yard is meticulously cared for and the landscape is beautiful to include the large banyan tree. The adjoining property was rented to a large family, but we hardly ever saw them. A short walk through the yard led to gorgeous beach area. Occasionally people walk by but for the most part it was your own private beach. The sand is very soft. There is lots of coral coming in so if you plan to go in the water you will definitely want water shoes. We had high surf and wind warnings during our stay but we really thought snorkeling would be good had that not been the case. Let's talk sea turtles. From the reviews, they were mentioned as being on the beach. It was incredible there were over a dozen turtles that came in every night and sunset and left at sunrise. Such a cool experience. Lots of food options nearby. Must have Huli Huli chicken that is nearby. So GOOD! We had a lot of shave ice but our favorite was Ululani's Shave ice that was nearby. The lines are long but so good. Thank you Brian and Mitz for sharing your home.

Seriously, we got home and looked at my husbands computer 'stock background' and it was the view from this place. If you're looking for great view, great beach and a house exactly as described, you've found perfect. We loved the homey feel of the house, the layout was great for my elderly parents and us (middle age). Brian never got annoyed with my questions that he had already answered, was quick to respond and when my father broke 3 ribs 3 weeks before the trip he was willing to work with me on a solution. A great place (the house next door looked great too for bigger groups!).

Wonderful location! Enough room for everyone. Loved seeing the turtles every morning on the beach and turn around and look at the Maui sunrise at the same time with the palms as a backdrop. So gorgeous. Was great to have some essentials we were allowed to use as well like a cooler, beach chairs, noodles, beach towels. Came in handy.

We loved our stay. We only wish we had booked it for another week! We are already talking about a return trip. Make sure you go out to the beach either early or late to see the turtles. We had better luck early in the morning. Drive up to the summit of Haleakala. It’s a surreal experience.

I can’t say enough good things about this house. Booking was a breeze. Brian was very easy to communicate with for questions and check in process. He even checked in a few times during our stay to see how we were doing. The property is amazing. When I saw the pictures in the listing it was exactly what I was looking for and then when we got there in person it was even better. The house and property are exactly as advertised. The view from the lanai is perfect Hawaii views in my opinion. The house is very clean and everything is very well maintained. The neighborhood is very quiet and relaxed (except that one rooster a few early mornings) and being in Kehei is nice for exploring other parts of the island. I can’t say enough good things about my experience here it was amazing in every way.

We had a great vacation in Maui and this property in Kihei was a big part of that. We felt like we had our own private beach and never felt too close to neighbors. The great sunsets and sea turtles coming to shore after sunsets were amazing. The high quality grill made it easy to grill dinners and enjoy the outdoor beauty. Brian was extremely responsive to any questions. We would definitely recommend this property.

We could not have asked for a better location. The view from the house is absolutely amazing. Sunsets with Green sea turtles resting around us and the waves gently lapping on shore what more could you ask for. So many restaurants and coffee shops within a 5 to 10 min walk. Brian was very helpful and went beyond checking in with us when we had an issue. I would absolutely return to this Cottage or the house next door with my kids and grandson.

The property is in a picture perfect location and was exactly as described. The rooms, kitchen, and grounds were well appointed. The kitchen and grill offered everything we needed to prepare our nightly meals after enjoying sunsets that would make the most beautiful of postcards jealous.
We enjoyed our daily visits to what essentially amounted to a private stretch of beach that was accessible within less than a 60 second stroll from the back patio.
This was our first visit to Maui and we couldn't have asked for a better property. Every night we were treated to amazing sunsets and numerous sea turtles that would come to spend their evening on the beach.
On one occasion, we were even able to see a whale breach while enjoying lunch.
This property makes me jealous of the people who call Kihei and Maui home. We will certainly be back again soon.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful property with us./

This house is perfect for a group of friends or a large family! The space. The extras. The attention to the “local” feel are awesome. Enjoy the beautiful sunsets! Great back yard! Fully loaded kitchen! Every night we were there, we saw Sea Turtles nesting on the beach! Will be coming back!

All the comforts needed to have a relaxing time with family. Well appointed kitchen, bath, lanai. Small cottage feel that makes great use of space with the extended couch and Murphy bed. We loved the convenience of having the beach chairs and umbrella. Used them every day. Grill was in great condition too.
Be prepared you are in a residential, natural area. We had chickens and roosters every morning and the occasional fly or flying ant get in the house now and then. If you are planning to stay with other couples or non family members please note the walls are thin—we could hear each other talking in the bedrooms next door to each other. It’s ok if it’s just you and kids, though—we had a fantastic time and would stay here again.

Beautiful House!
I can’t say enough about this house! Perfectly located in Kihei, close to shops, restaurants and groceries…we had everything we needed just around the corner. The house is exactly as pictured, clean and well organized and the perfect spot for our family of 4, me, husband and 2 young adult sons (22, 18). We ate mangos from the tree in the yard, sat outside drinking coffee in the mornings and wine in the evenings as we watched the sun set. Turtles were on the beach every night just after sunset which was an amazing experience. Communication with the property manager was great as well! We would definitely stay here again!

Paradise
Beautiful home located right on the beach in Kihei. Home has everything you need. We enjoyed cooking dinners on the lanai and watching the turtles beach at night. Brian and Mitzie were wonderful and a huge basket of fruit was waiting for us when we arrived. I’ll definitely book this home again. Mahalo.

Paradise with original Hawaii charm
Absolutely perfect location! Home was traditional as advertised, could use some updates; but the privacy and view is absolute paradise! Loved the lawn, the rooster and chickens, as well as the large tree in the backyard. Brian was very responsive to any questions and quick to remedy the shower handle that broke on our second day. Overall would highly recommend and would stay again!

An amazing location
The listing accurately described the house but the real show stopper is the view. It is just as lovely as it looks in the photos. Access to the beach was fantastic. Brian handled all of our questions, was a gracious host and was extremely responsive.

Maui Perfection
Can’t rave enough about this perfect ‘Old School’ Hawai’i ‘cottage’. Absolutely perfect location on the water. There is a large absolutely gorgeous sweeping garden in front of the house (with a huge banyan tree providing an incredible shade) - perfect for naps, meditating, yoga or massages (my wife hired a masseuse to come and said it was the best massage ever what with the wind, sound of birds and crashing waves). Steps away from one of the most gorgeous beachfronts anywhere (picture any photo of a long sweeping Hawai’i beach). Stretch of beach is easily at least half a mile and walkable - saw turtles! Gorgeous sunsets that we viewed nightly from what felt like a private beach as the only ones there were the very few people from surrounding houses. Saw my fist shooting star while lying on the beach in our PJ’s. Slightly rocky beach immediately in front of house. A five minute walk to left has a stretch of beach that is sandier. Waves can be choppy and high tide limits the amount of beach area but always walkable. Trade winds cooling but can be slightly windy in the afternoon - perfect conditions in AM and evening/night.
House itself was perfect for our needs (we were two 50 something couples traveling together. The lanai was perfect for hanging out (and viewing the sunset) - grill, dining set and lounge chairs comfortable. The house was cottage cozy but had everything we could have possibly needed. Bathrooms and bedrooms were small and basic but very clean and served our needs. A/C in all rooms, laundry, grill, beach chairs/toys and kitchen supplies all provided.
Shops , restaurants (Maui Pie!), grocery store all right around the corner (5-10 minute walk/1 minute drive).
Brian was exceptionally communicative and responsive to our questions, and all around nice guy (along with his wife Mitzi).
Already missing the sound and sights of the beach. We’re planning our return visit as soon as possible! Couldn’t recommend enough.

Excellent place to setup in Maui
The bungalow was perfect for my family of five. We had just spent a long week on another island and wanted some time to relax. The beach was windy but easy to get to. There were turtles out there every morning and every evening. But we really enjoyed the shade under the banyan tree in the yard as most days got well over 90° The place is small but we knew we’d be spending most of our time outdoors. The location was great for us to explore all ends of Maui as it is central on the island. The check-in and checkout process with simple. Everything was clean and the kitchen was well stocked. There were small ants as others have mentioned, but we cleaned up the first day and put out an ant trap and that seem to work. I highly recommend staying here.

Everything was perfect
When our family walked into this house, we couldn't believe it. Everything was amazing. The house itself is cute and feels like a charming Hawaiian bungalow. The yard and beach were amazing. I couldn't get enough of sitting outside and looking past the beautiful banyan tree to the beach.
The only downside to the location was that the winds in the afternoon were often extremely strong. We couldn't go in the water much after lunchtime, except for one or two days where the wind was calmer. But this was true all over Kihei -- I think it was a particularly windy week. Just something to be aware of as you're making plans. We ended up being in the water in the mornings and doing other stuff in the afternoons.
Communication with Brian was great too - he texted to check in on us and was extremely responsive. We're already trying to figure out how to come back sometime!

Peaceful Retreat
My husband and I, along with our 22 year-old daughter and 18 year-old son, loved our stay at this cozy beachfront cottage. Everything was clean, the beds were comfy, the kitchen was well stocked with cookware, and the outdoor shed housed boogie boards, beach chairs, floating noodles, and beach toys for guest use. The gas BBQ grill was such a nice bonus, enabling us to fix quick, easy meals while enjoying the cool ocean breezes as we dined in the lanai. The lanai was OUR FAVORITE place to relax and enjoy the views and sounds of nature. Each morning was a joy to sip coffee in the comfy Adirondack chairs while listening to a symphony of chirping geckos, myna birds, doves, and yes, chickens. We enjoyed watching the mama hens hunt for food in the yard with their little chicks in tow. There are plenty of trees in the backyard for shade, and our son enjoyed napping in his hammock under the old banyan tree after a long day of outdoor activities. The yard is immaculately kept with palms and fruit trees, and the backyard leads out with a short path on to a picturesque beach. We LOVED sipping wine in the evenings on the sandy beach behind the house, watching the sea turtles swim by, the kite surfers do aerial stunts, all while the sun was coloring the sky as it set. Magical! Thank you Brian and Mitzi for allowing us to stay at your quaint cottage—we feel blessed.

Best place in Kihei!
Our group of friends could not have asked for a better location! Quiet street, near everything we needed. The 120-year-old Banyan tree was a treat to sit under and enjoy the shade from the hot sun every day and having our own beachfront area made the stay wonderful since we could avoid the crowded beaches and trying to find parking. Brian was super responsive when we had questions or a request. This is a hidden gem of a property that I would tell any of my freinds to enjoy!

A beautiful home located in central Kihei!
This was our first trip to the islands as a family and I couldn't be happier with our home! I initially had some reservations on what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised at the location and amenities that were available. There are 2 separate houses on the property this this one having a separate owner's suite in the converted garage. I was originally worried about this when we arrived but found that it truly is separated from the house and I understand that they are very rarely there. We had some very small maintenance issues but Brian was great at responding to them. Our family of 6 was very comfortable with 2 kids staying in the bedroom with 2 twin beds and the other 2 kids having their own queen beds in the living room (couch pull out and another bed concealed in the wall near the back sliding door). The kids loved climbing the beautiful 100+ year old tree and seeing the turtles on the beach was amazing! It's quite the spot for the green sea turtles on that beach!
Again, we couldn't be happier with the home and working with Brian. Looking forward to booking our next trip there!

Slice of Hawaii Heaven !
The Beach House is amazing. We knew from previous trips that being sort of 'central' in Kihei would work well for heading out to different activities all over the island, plus the one night the husband and I took the car out for a dinner date, the kids were able to walk into town and get dinner wherever they wanted. Nice, quiet neighborhood, awesome proximity to the beach for sunset-, turtle-, and whale-watching, beautiful big banyon tree and landscape in front and back. Although the beach out back is nice, it was shallow reef so kids had to go elsewhere to swim, board, etc (which is fine because there are plenty of awesome beaches nearby). Six people slept comfortably in the house - the murphy bed and sofa bed got no complaints from my teens. The one con were the sliding 'pocket' doors on bedrooms and bathrooms which were slightly noisy at night and problematic to operate for some in our group (and might not give parents with toddlers ideal privacy). The washer/dryer and 2 hallway baths were super convenient, and we BBQ'd almost every night and ate on the lanai. Wifi worked great for all our kids in online school, there was a good collection of beach chairs, umbrella, and boogie boards for the kids, and host Brian was super responsive. We enjoyed our stay so much we extended it. Highly recommend this - may come back ourselves.
