Tim in Theresa found this hidden gem while looking for a lake front property in NH and ME to unplug from the craziness of the world around us. We fell in love with the home as soon as we saw it because of the serene surroundings and the restful feeling of being away from it all. Very nice cabin on the lake. Fire pit / chairs right on the water. can't ask for anything more. Very nice inside, well kept.

First off. Tim and Theresa are the kindest and best owners. We communicated a few times and they were always available for questions. The lake is beautiful with great scenery. We needed a getaway and it was perfect. From the fire pit, dock, boat launch, fishing, hiking to the cute bedrooms, living area and country kitchen….. the home was perfect. We will be looking to repeat.

Teresa and Tim worked to quickly resolve some minor issues as they arose. The house is casual and comfortable. The lake views are lovely and relaxing. We saw lots of wildlife( ducks, geese, loons, eagle, great blue heron). The kayaks and canoe were a wonderful way to explore.
The lake does have a lot of weeds/ Lilly pad growth, so swimming was not great. Also there was a concern about growth of blue / green algae and bacteria in the lake.
We had to clean the dock off several times after the ducks visited!
The washer and dryer in the “basement “ was a little intimidating at first as the ceiling is so low and it was dark, but it worked well and and was so convenient.
We loved the peaceful setting, sitting by the water was so relaxing. The house had everything we needed.

Beautiful spot!
The home was clean, updated and well- equipped. The location was amazing being right on the lake with no stairs to enter. We were able to rent a boat and dock it. Theresa was very responsive and helpful. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful time at Dragonfly Cottage. Theresa was very easy to communicate with and the house is well appointed. The location is great, and we took full use of kayaks, canoe, and paddle boards. Great for an adult stay or a small family.

Just what we needed
My boyfriend and I had a very busy summer, and needed a getaway to recharge before going into my busiest season of the year. We were there in Mid-Late October, and it was beautiful, quiet, and just what we needed. The neighbor's house was much closer than the photos show, but because nobody was there, it didn't matter. We used the canoe one evening, when there was NO wind. The water was absolute glass. What a treat. The grocery store was kind of far away, but on our last day we discovered a restaurant/bar called The Carriage House Bistro & Tavern and it was amazing! I am a chef, and everything we tried was fantastic, and everything that came out of the kitchen looked fantastic as well. We wish we had found it sooner. They even had an excellent selection of Bourbon which my boyfriend was very happy to see.
We highly recommend this location, and hope to stay there again in the future.

Much needed break in a great spot
My family really enjoyed our 2-week stay here. The property was as advertised and very well appointed. Clean, comfortable, great kitchen and nice grill (we like to cook). My daughter paddle-boarded each day, my son and I loved the fishing and my wife enjoyed the kayak. Our goal was to go and relax and this place helped us do it. I would highly recommend this.

The bliss I needed
We had an absolutely wonderful stay! After the craziness of the last year and half, I needed a quiet getaway for a few days to just relax and recharge and Dragonfly Cottage was absolutely perfect. The beds are comfy, the kitchen well appointed, the views to die for. Everything. We never left the entire time we were there. Every morning we'd have coffee sitting in the adirondack chairs near the lake. I highly recommend the place. Theresa was very responsive and it's clear they love their cottage!

Perfect Lake Gateway
The property is super cute and cozy with a lot of attention to detail. Everything went very well and the owner was very quick to respond when I had questions. Seating by the lake in front of the fire pit was exactly what we needed. The lake is beautiful and peaceful. Would go back in a heart bit.

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL Lake House Getaway!
We had the most fabulous weekend in South Effington! If you're looking to get away and enjoy some time out of the city, this spot is PERFECT. The lake house is super cozy with comfortable beds, an amazing kitchen, and the best little touches like battery-powered candles. You have gorgeous views of the lake inside and out. Step outside... and you can enjoy wine and a book in Adirondack chairs, sit on the dock, or take kayak and/or paddle board out for a spin. At night, build a fire and take in the stars. Really could not have asked for a better stay! Can't wait to get back again soon!
