About this house rental
Beautiful lakefront home only steps from your own private sandy beach that faces west, providing some of the most stunning sunsets you'll find!! Home has cathedral ceilings in the living room/dinning room area with exposed timber. Well maintained and fully equipped lakeside house with a distinct "Camp" feel. Glassed in sun room with direct deck access that looks straight at the lake, simply beautiful views anytime of the day or night. Loft above the sun room makes for a unique sleeping experience for kids or a couple. There is a separate bunk house beside the main house with its own bedroom and bathroom, included in the rental. The beach is private and secluded from the neighbors with a canoe and twin kayak use included with the rental as well, along with a dock if you bring a boat (some lifejackets provided but we recommend you bring your own to ensure proper fit). Relax and take in the views from the deck as you grill, or enjoy the fire pit on the beach with your feet in the sand. Kick back and listen to the loons call back and forth almost every night. There are several Eagles at the lake as well and they are seen frequently from the lake house. Truly a serene environment to melt away any worries of the outside world. Easily houses 2 average size families if you want to share the home with friends. Grocery store with most everything you would need is only 3 miles down the road.
House is fully stocked with everything you'll need, has AC for those hot summer nights, and heated for cool spring or fall evenings. Only 10 miles to the coast for Seafood as fresh as it gets, or just about an hour to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Several golf courses within 30 min as well.
We are flexible as far as payments are concerned. Currently set up for 1 payment in total at time of booking, but we can separate out payments into 2 or 3 installments if needed. Please let me know when you send a booking request if you would like to separate into 2 or 3 payments, and I will make the adjustment when I send it back to you. You will not be charged until I accept and send the changes back to you.
Please note that there is NO WIFI at the lakehouse. Cell service is good if you need to hotspot, but if you are working while at the lakehouse, you are doing it all wrong!

This is the perfect get-away-from-it-all. It is very private. There are different spaces for different activities or family members. The views from the cabin as well as the decks are wonderful- specially sunsets. We enjoyed star gazing from the dock, coffee on the deck and nights next to the fire pit on the beach. Loons, hummingbirds and an eagle were all part of our adventure too.
The water is warm and with the nice beach, you just walk right in. The dock can easily fit chairs and so people can be in sun or shade all day.
The cub house is super cozy. Everything is exactly as described. Josh was fantastic with getting back to us about anything we asked.
We didn't do as many area activities as we thought we would because staying at the house was so nice- and that was without great weather.
We have Verizon and had spotty cell service- best to download maps before leaving the house. Even at the house, there were just 2 bars.
Highly recommend this slice of heaven.

Echoing past reviews here to say that this a lovely vacation spot! The house is a classic Maine "camp"--a bit rustic with somewhat dated furnishings--but it is very clean, perfectly equipped (think towels, kitchen supplies, etc) and fully functional. And the lake views and access are truly unparalleled. It is remarkably quiet and peaceful with a few boats on the lake but not a ton (even on a beautiful summer weekend) and the views are expansive from every angle (so many interior windows looking out over the water, the deck, the beach, the dock--it's all gorgeous!). The lake water itself was such a pleasant surprise. It's clean, clear, and a comfortable temperature--refreshing but not freezing in the least. It seemed like it was about 4 feet deep at the end of the dock which was deep enough for our kids to jump in and play. And also, the bottom of the lake is comfortable on the feet with a sandy and rocky floor. It's not mucky at all which can be the case with some lakes/ponds.
We had a blast here with our kids, ages 5-11. Our kids swam, snorkeled, skipped rocks, and made up lake games. Inside we played a ton of board games, did puzzles, read, and watched movies. We spent a pleasant afternoon strolling Belfast (lobster rolls at Youngs were *tremendous*) and also went to Camden for a hike (Mount Battie--wonderful views, 3 mile round trip, perfect for our family) and some perusing the town shops. A really peaceful spot that shimmers with summery goodness from every angle!

Nothing has changed with my review since our first stay 2 years ago. This place is amazing! The view is incredible, every sunset is the most beautiful one I’ve ever seen. The house has everything a family could need. It’s well maintained and cozy but not so small that it feels cramped when many people are around. Josh is a fantastic owner and will do everything he can to make the stay enjoyable for everyone. I look forward to staying here again!

Perfect lakeside Maine vacation. Would love to come back every summer. Host was great and very easy to work with. House felt like home the moment we arrived. The beds were all very comfortable and everyone was very well rested every day. 10 out of 10 for sure.

Two families, one house and one "cub cabin." This was perfect for 7 people - 3 kids and 4 adults. There's plenty of sleeping space for everyone. I formerly stayed in the cub cabin, but this time, the master bedroom upstairs. It was delightful! There's plenty of room to spread out and have your own space.
This house is not only beautiful from the lake, but comfortable and spacious enough for our group. We enjoyed meals together, cooked in the well-supplied kitchen. The sun room is my personal favorite room, where you can just look for eagles/do your puzzle/relax and read/have a dance party, etc.
The kids loved the dock. The lake is deep enough to jump into and not get full of algae, like another lake we tried a couple of years ago. Though we had some weather and waves/wind a few days, we found other stuff to do, such as going into Belfast and getting ice cream, shopping, and checking out the arts festival. When the weather was good, we kayaked/fished/sunned on the little beach. It was quiet most of the time - not overloaded with loud lake traffic. Peace and quiet - just what we needed. I was able to finally read a book - a win for me!!
Thanks, Poolers!

From the beginning Josh was great to communicate with. We had a blast at his home. The outside area is a great place to relax. You can also kayak or canoe and get some water sports in. My kids learned to skip rocks here, my sons top score was 7 skips. I can’t say enough good things about this home. Hopefully we will be back in the near future.

I grew up in Maine but moved away years ago and had family members who had not had the "Maine experience". I could not have chosen a better place for that to happen. Spacious cabin, very well stocked with everything you need for cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. The extra "Cub Cabin" was provided the perfect privacy for my son and his wife who had a newborn. The beautiful sunsets to the sound of the loons was memorable. Well stocked grocery store at the end of the lake and supermarket and restaurants within 15 min drive. I e-mailed our host a couple questions during the stay and Josh replied within minutes. Would definitely do it again.

The Swam Lake Lakehouse fit our needs very well. Quiet, plenty of space, lots of windows to maximize the lakefront location, and the opportunity to go fishing or canoeing just a few steps out the back door. We made several trips to Acadia, an easy drive from the house. Also enjoyed the town of Belfast.
Josh always communicated promptly—thanks, Josh!

Very nice week. Very peaceful, relaxing with many things to do. I strongly recommend going to Cadillac Mountain to see the sunrise for future guests. Close proximity to Belfast and Camden, our favorite towns.

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived that the listing was accurate, and were welcomed with wine and s'mores!
We drove up from North Carolina, so we arrived late in the evening with our pups, but the light was on for us!
We really appreciated the amazing views we woke up to each day, the quiet surroundings, and friendly neighbors.
Plenty of places to explore in Belfast and Searsport, but we also ventured to Bangor for some fine dining.
Josh was very responsive to my questions prior to our arrival, and we really appreciated the ability to travel with our dogs. They all thoroughly enjoyed the lake and the trails we explored.
Thank you for opening your wonderful home. ☺️
Really a lovely place to stay, and we hope to come back!

This house was everything we needed for our family get together. Plenty of space for all of us. The cub cabin is the perfect addition. Everything was clean and exactly how it should have been. Josh was really great at communication. Would definitely come again if we come back to Maine.

This house is awesome. Extremely quite and a pretty much perfect spot to unwind. Josh was super easy to work with and was available if needed although we did not need him for anything 👍 The house is extremely well appointed and the nice little touches around the house were appreciated. Beautiful sunsets on the beach or from the big windowed room over looking the lake.
We really had no complaints or issues at all with the house. We will stay again!

Everything was great about this property. The cabin is spacious, with tons of room to sleep and spread out. The Cub Cabin offers a little privacy and was very cozy. The main cabin has everything you need for your stay. The lake is crystal clear and the sunset views are gorgeous. I’d highly recommend staying at this property.

We've stayed in Maine every summer for the past 15 years and we love staying at Swan Lake. This lakeside cottage is a perfect setup. It has plenty of space for our large family to spread out, and my dad had his own quiet space in the separate "cub" cabin. There's a deck that goes right down to the sandy beach- no matter where you are, you have easy access to the water. We all had a blast staying at the house swimming, fishing, and kayaking, but the location is close to the fun and funky town of Belfast and Acadia/ Bar Harbor are also a reasonable drive away. The house was well stocked with everything you need- life vests, beach towels, shampoo and conditioner, and pantry items. Lots of good books on the shelves too, for kids and adults! There's no wifi or cable which I was happy about, and we got a couple DVDs from the RedBox to keep the kids occupied now and then. Josh is a great host and we look forward to staying here again in the future!

I planned our stay over a year ago and was so excited about our trip and this place did not disappoint! It was evident that much thought had gone into all the little details that made it a great stay vs. just a good one. While we spent a little time at Acadia and Bar Harbor, everyone’s favorite thing to do was spend time here at the lake - kayaking, canoeing, fishing, playing games, putting puzzles together and just spending time together. We enjoyed the beautiful views, especially the gorgeous sunsets! We were quite fortunate to have mostly nice weather, but even if the weather had kept us indoors, we would have been perfectly happy and content. The owners were fantastic to work with! We definitely would like to come back in the future!

We loved this cozy lake house! Beautiful views of the mornings and evenings! We had 4 guys that love to fish so it was perfect for them and I got to relax and read a good book just like I wanted. Very close to Belfast where there was some great restaurants, just wish the restaurants would stay open a little later LOL. We were about 30 minutes from Bangor where my girls went to the Mall to do some shopping!! Some of us even took the Stephen King Tour in Bangor which I loved cause like I said I am a reader. At the lake house we had everything we had a group of 8 and it was comfortable for all of us!! My dad had his private room in the Cub which was perfect for him so he didn’t have to deal with the crazy grandkids LOL!! This is one of the best vacations we have taken and we would 100% do it again!! Thank you Josh Pooler for all your help you were amazing!!

This was the most relaxing vacation we have ever been on. We completely disconnected from all electronics and were able to just sit and watch the water views and the loons all day long. The rustic cottage was exactly what we needed.

Our family enjoyed a wonderful week at Swan Lake, a perfect location for exploring to Acadia, the Coast, and charming Maine communities. Also went kayaking, gazed at stars, and hiked local trails. The house was perfect for us and all was in great condition. Recommend this place for your family too!

This was the perfect spot! The location on the lake was perfect for viewing sunsets and stargazing. The huge wall of windows facing the lake make you feel like you're right on the water (and the A/C unit combats the heat from the afternoon sun well). Although there are neighbors on either side, the camp felt like a private retreat thanks to the trees and rocks on either side. It was the perfect setting for a gathering of family. We're grateful for having found this spot!

Three generations of us stayed here for a week and had a wonderful time. The walk-in beach with rocky areas on the side to explore was perfect for the kids (5 & 7). They had a blast catching crayfish and frogs. The adults had a great time relaxing (inside & outside), and enjoying the loons, bald eagles, and other birds. We had a lovely time visiting Belfast several times, as well as Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge and observatory. The house was well equipped, comfortable, and clean. A great time was had by all. We’ll definitely be booking again in the future!

We had the best time at the lakehouse! The house (think of it as somewhere between a really nice cabin or a rustic lakehouse) was clean, comfortable, and spacious. There was plenty of space for our 4 adults and 4 kids and the separate cub house was perfect for our friend with no kids so she could sleep later than our little early risers. The house had everything we needed from kitchen staples to bath and beach towels. The beach was incredible and we enjoyed fishing, swimming, and kayaking (in the provided double kayak). There is a little grocery store 6 minutes away and other than a trip to the store we stayed at the house all week, because while there are many things to do in the area, we wanted to spend our time relaxing at this awesome, private beach paradise!
We will definitely be back!

We had a great stay. Everything was as described and communication was a breeze with Josh. Although small square footage wise, the layout was perfect to give everyone their own space. Water was filtered for drinking and cooking with reverse osmosis, beds were comfy, water pressure was better there than in my own house and the place was stocked with plenty of towels, cookware, books, games and a few dvds. We knew ahead of time there was no wi-fi and that wasn't an issue at all. We had brought a few dvds with us for evening time and the Hotspot on our tablet worked just fine. I would recommend bringing some pool noodles or floaties with you if you have kids as there were not any there and we couldn't find anywhere until the last day to buy any. I would also recommend going old school and printing out directions on how to get there from the airport as we lost service quite a few times on the way in which was a little challenging. I also recommend checking out Moose state park nearby if you have kids as my daughter had a blast hunting for baby crabs in the tide pools. Literally nothing to complain about. Book this place, you won't regret it! The sunsets alone make it worth the trip.

We’ve rented houses in Maine every year for well over a decade, and this place is 100% the best. The photos don’t do it justice. Josh was a phenomenal host, dealing with so many questions like a champ. It had everything we needed and for the first time in our vacation history, we spent more days at the rental than we did out and about. Location is fantastic though, Belfast is close and has all sorts of fun things to do if you’re so inclined. But between the well appointed house, the relaxed camp-like atmosphere, and the lake, I couldn’t imagine a better place to spend vacation.

Breathtaking
We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Million dollar sunsets. Loved listening to the loons in the evening and finding a bald eagle nest. We really did not want to leave. Josh you have a very special place there on the lake.
We did have an issue with the tub draining. Contacted Josh and his neighbor and dad came that evening to try to fix it and the plumber was there the next morning. Josh was apologetic and had someone there as fast as he could. Thanks for the quick response. We would love to return sometime in the future. If we are able to get another reservation. 😃

Life’s a beach!
Thank you Josh, My husband and I with our two standard poodles enjoyed the property!! Wonderful place with all the amenities. Large beach area with shallow water for the little one to play. It is a nice private area for the dogs to be outside and not bother other homes near by. The gradual incline on the loon road made for a twice daily walk to keep in shape and occupy the dogs!

Swan Lake gem
What a beautiful location for a family vacation,… we would definitely stay here again. If you like quiet, privacy, comfort and location this place has it all. This was our first time staying in this area and we couldn’t have been happier. We rented a pontoon boat for a few days as well and loved exploring the lake on that as well as in the kayak. Everything was provided that you may need during your stay and if there was something else you wanted the local store 5 minutes away had it, plus much more!
Our family of adult children with their significant others, plus dogs had plenty of space between the main house and the cabin. Amazing sunsets, loons and bald eagle sightings are the icing on the cake!

Amazing!!!!
We had such a great time! Little cold this time of year to be jumping in the lake but the dogs didn’t mind at all! Everyday they couldn’t wait to jump in! Cabin and cub house were perfect for all 3 generations. Fire pit and sunsets were amazing!!

Perfect for a family vacation!
We loved our week on beautiful Swan Lake. We enjoyed swimming, kayaking and canoeing, but also just sitting and watching the sun set over the lake, or listening to the loons. The house was well stocked with everything we needed, including a bottle of wine and ingredients for S'mores! We were concerned the bedrooms might be too warm since the AC is downstairs, but with the windows open and fans on, we were perfectly comfortable. The central location offers access to tons of things to do - we explored Acadia and Camden as well as Belfast and Searsport. Would absolutely recommend!

Wonderful Relaxing week by the lake
Our two families had a wonderful time! The property was the perfect size for our group, and even had a wonderful sunlit loft space where teens could hide away when they needed to be left alone! Perfect access to the lake for our swimming, paddling and SUPing adventures. Also, beautiful sunsets right out the main view from the living area...no picture can give justice to the view watching the sun go down.
I would have given 5-stars across the board, but the lack of wifi did give us a little trouble with the teens in our group. Owner was very up front about this after we booked, and very helpful with our questions. There was just enough cell service (AT&T so of course not great) to handle basic essentials of a week long vacation, but not enough to say, stream a show after the sun went down. Hardly a negative when we're supposed to be getting away and unplugging, but not quite what we were expecting.

10/10 recommend!
We had a wonderful week on swan lake. With 8 adults it’s sometimes hard to find places with enough beds that don’t cost a fortune. Josh’s house was the perfect place for all of us to sleep and hang out comfortably. The welcome basket, complete with a bottle of red wine was just the cherry on top. Josh was the most accommodating and responsive host. He was always quick to answer my messages. The house was so clean and has the most gorgeous view of the quiet lake. It really does feel secluded because you can’t see the neighbors from the water front. We enjoyed fishing, floating, kayaking, and having fires at night while listening to the loons. We would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone!
