About this cabin rental
A beautiful spot perched under the trees on the banks of the Guadalupe River in Seguin, TX. One of 2 lovely tiny homes on the property. Plenty of outdoor space to enjoy. 100' of riverfront with beach entry. FREE kayaks. Great fishing from the dock or banks. Reconnect w/ the great outdoors: fire pit, outdoor shower, hammocks. Sleeps 4.
WATER LEVELS
The water levels depicted in the photos are current. The water has been down since March 2023, but it's not due to drought conditions. The dam that created Meadow Lake (aka Lake Nolte) from the Guadalupe River since 1928, is being rebuilt. While it’s now a river (12-15’ lower than when it was a lake), it’s pretty consistent level and flow, despite rainfall, because it’s fed from the bottom of Canyon Lake. The river has a muddy bottom, so plumes of button moss can float downstream and sometimes collect at water's edge, esp during warmer summer months.
Despite the lower levels, we are still in a great spot for kayaking, swimming, floating, wading, and fishing. It varies from ankle deep at the edge of the bank, 3-4 feet around the fishing dock, and over 10 feet in other areas. Additionally, there's no boat traffic so it's very calm and quiet here.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS

PLEASE NOTE
This is a tiny home, so the water heater is also tiny. This isn't the place for long indoor showers, and the tank needs time to refill between showers. But we do have an outdoor shower with a tankless water heater with a view of the water, which is second to none!
The Bunk House is one of 2 tiny homes on the property, so the outdoor areas and riverfront may be shared with up to 4 guests from the other tiny home, the Loft House. Your house is private (all to yourself) with your own attached front porch, as well as separate outdoor dining, grill, hammock chair, hammock, and paddles. The Shed, fire pit, outdoor area, and riverfront are shared with plenty of room to spread out.
If Meadow Lake Retreat Bunk House is booked on your preferred dates, please check out the other tiny house on the property, Meadow Lake Retreat Loft House. We also own Lake Nolte Retreat (tiny home on the adjacent lot) and Reiley Retreat (2 units of a duplex on the Guadalupe River in Seguin).
We live locally and are only a phone call away if you need anything. We also have local maintenance and housekeeping available for needs that may arise during your stay with us.
We love this place because it's quiet, near the end of a dead end country road with cows and lots of stars. But it's still super convenient (5 minutes) to many things like Walmart and HEB.
Right off I-10 and very centrally located to:
- essentials like HEB, Walmart, Starbucks, restaurants, movie theater (- Gruene/New Braunfels/Schlitterbahn (20 miles)
- San Marcos outlet malls (25 miles)
- San Antonio (~40 miles)
- Austin (~50 miles)
You'll likely need a car to get around. HEB will deliver groceries to your doorstep via Shipt. Please check on Uber/DoorDash as those services seem to be intermittent here.
Reservations >2 weeks may require an additional cleaning fee.
NO smoking. Smoking of any kind (including tobacco, marijuana, e-cigarettes, vape pens, and hookahs) is prohibited at this property, inside and out.
NO pets. Although we are pet lovers, this is a shared property with other guests who may be sensitive (allergic, fearful) to pets.
NO large parties or gatherings allowed. We have neighbors with full-time residence nearby who will report back with excessive noise or groups that exceed the home limit. Parking limited to 2 vehicles.

First off, this tiny home is SO nice inside, and the property was absolutely pristine. Everything is labeled, and a lot of supplies are provided (k-cups / first aid kit / basic cooking ingredients) - added bonus! The setting is just beautiful - upper deck is so nice to look out over the water. My kids loved the hanging swings and hammock (and so did I). More than anything, Laura is the best host I've ever encountered! Super fast and thorough responses, truly cares about your experience, and so friendly! HIGHLY recommend this place!

Everything was great! The amenities provided, the location, everything was wonderful. Loved that they provide life jackets of all sizes and kayaks. Each of my daughters (age 10 and 7) were able to kayak. Making smores with our weekend neighbors was a special treat. We could lay on the hammocks all day if we could! Laura was so friendly and such a great host!

What a beautiful weekend get away at meadow creek retreat! Laura’s home was beautiful & clean. She goes above and beyond to make her guests feel like they are at home while away from home. The river was also the perfect place for rest and relaxation. Beautiful scenery and perfect location. I will be back!!

Absolute gem of a place! Everything was perfect. Staying right on the river was incredible. Super easy to get in and out with their new dock. The outdoor kitchen and common area with hammocks was a really nice touch. Breathtaking views and sunsets. Everything was organized and labelled really clearly. Plenty of plates/mugs/pots/etc. The host, Laura was really nice and helpful. Will definitely be booking again. Even though there is another tiny home on the property, there are lots of spots in the common area and docks to eat and relax, so there was never any worry of being in each other's way or space.

What a lovely place to celebrate spring!
Magnificent trees on the property, home of a diverse wildlife... we observed flamboyant green lizards 🦎, couples of cardinals, falcons... and a owl was singing while we were enjoying a fire.
We used all the equipments provided for the water fun 🏄♂️
The Guadalupe River is quite nice and already warm enough to enjoy a swim.
The water currents makes kayaking a great exercise!
Great relaxing on each and any of the many patio, dock and decks... great outdoors!

This is the best place we have stayed in for several years. Being retired and travelling we use vacation rentals a lot. Laura is a super host and contacts us often to make sure all is well. Very nice location and very relaxing. Thanks Laura for making our stay really great.

This was an absolutely beautiful place. Super clean, beautiful view of the lake I would love to go back when it is warmer to enjoy some of the activities on the lake. Laura was a super hostess if I had any question she was very quick to reply.
I do wish there was better signage on the road or a light to help find the place at night. But the whole place was beautiful.

Evenings by the fire, mornings over the river! Stunning location. The small hot water heater should be listed in the rental information, however the outdoor shower was awesome!

Couldn’t have asked for a better first vacation rental experience! The accommodations were perfect for what we were wanting. The scenery was beautiful and I really appreciated the thoroughness of the hosts. Everything in the house was labeled, check in/out instructions were clear and easy, and the price was appropriate.

Great Fun at Meadow Lake
Our stay in the bunk house on Meadow Lake was so fun! We enjoyed the tiny home that has all the amenities of home. We kayaked, paddle boarded and floated in the lake. All of the trees provided lots of shade and there were so many places to sit and enjoy all the sounds of nature. The covered patio was a perfect place to sit and play cards or read a book. The green lights in the lake at night attracted all kinds of fish. We will definitely take our fishing poles next time. This place was a great get away spot and we will be returning!

Bunk house for the win!
Our family of 4 stayed at Laura's Bunk house over the 4th of July weekend. Surprisingly the lake was not over crowded or crazy busy. The lake seems like the perfect place to visit. You get all the convenience of waterfront without it being too busy to enjoy.
The amenities Laura provides is exceptional. An outdoor area fitted out for entertaining with fire pit, TV, plenty of seating, and hammocks to finish off your evening. There are kayaks, paddle boards, life jackets, and lounging chairs on the dock to watch the little swim. The lake is very deep at the end of the dock, which makes it good even in a drought. The water is nice and cool with a steady evening breeze which makes the Texas heat delightful. The lake sits in sort of a valley so the shade cover is great in both morning and later evenings.
The bunk house itself is fully furnished as advertised. If you like to cook while on vacay, you'll not be lacking. There are plenty of towels and even towels for us after you take a swimming dip. There's a first aid kit, hair drier and 2 refrigerators (one is outside in the shed.) We didn't use it, but there is a TV, games and we pulled the kitchen stool to the couch as our card game table. There's plenty of room for hanging out. The A/C was cool and ceiling fans in the bedroom and living room area.
If you're like me and loath cooking, you'll enjoy the quick 5 minute drive to a few good restaurants and all the fast-food establishments you're accustomed to. Sequin donuts was especially good. We didn't make it to Burnt Beans BBQ, but I've read it's phenomenal! Maybe next trip, we can bring more of our extended family along which can stay next door in the Loft and we can try it out!
Laura and Ryan were probably the most personable hosts we've had staying at any airbnb. Lucky us, they were actually next door for the weekend! They are such a delightful couple with the sweetest twins. Our kids got to play and we sat and had some great wine and convo! I hope we get to see them again.

Great Summer Getaway
We really enjoyed our stay and it provided for some much needed family time. Great place with lots of activity options. We played board games, swam, fished, swung, and did s’mores. Definitely a great option for a family getaway. Very clean and communication was great also. Great host. Would definitely stay here again.

Wear and tear
The host was worried about wear and tear, but not until we were already staying at the property. She notified me via text message one morning while already checked in, that the second part of my reservation with her at another property of hers would not work due to me having a party of 4/5. She stated that the wear and tear from having a family of 4/5 would not work for her. The place was very dirty on arrival. If you don't like security cameras stay away. There are cameras everywhere, makes it very uncomfortable to enjoy yourself.
