Seaview only I like but too much broker agents bothering when we are on the beach, feels very uneasy when someone keeps asking to bring us to this and that tour. I didn't step out to the beach for our 3 nights there.
No TV entertainment in the room, balcony no privacy as your neighbor room can see each other. Should install a fan at the balcony because it's hot n mosquito keep biting us, can't enjoy if sit in the balcony, go inside the room no TV to entertain.

Very cool atmosphere.. perfect for a family
Lack of back up generator

The place is very nice and calm. It was very relaxing. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom big.

Nice room and pool, right on the beach. Beach area clean and not crowded when we went in August. Provided menus for restaurants to deliver to room. Fridge, kettle, microwave in the room.
No drinking water provided. Have to buy but nothing really nearby to buy. Have to remember in the evening to bring for the next day.
Have to wait for someone to turn on hot water for hot showers.
Website says extra long beds. They were ok but my husband is 6"3', so with footboard, the bed is a bit short still.

Fondo and Naomi were such great hosts, very warm andwelcoming.
At least a tv would be great to wind up the night.
4.2
Big bed, AC, nice pool, direct beach access
Payment could have been managed more efficiently in advance.

Hell loads of mosquitos

The premise was okay, the pool water though was VERY SALTY. It could be better if the place offered breakfast services since there is a limited number of hotels around and they do not have much variety.

I loved the traditional style of the buildings and how they were grouped around the lovely pool. Lovely atmosphere. The direct beach access was great. Staff was very nice, in particular the guards. Beautiful gardens. The docor of the room was nice. Great value for money.
Small details: a few more hooks to hang towels in the bathroom. It would be nice to have a chair to go with the desk- as I was working for one of the days. The balcony room is a bit dark due to the beautiful tatched roof over the balcony. That roof also prevents tje see breeze to come in. Next time I would opt for a ground floor.

location is great, facilities very confortable
difficult to find, no reception or a bar. the appartement was comfortable, but a bottle of water upon arrival would make a difference.

No TV set in the rooms

Peaceful, beautiful and comfortable little resort. Safe place and no outsiders at the site. Good beach to swim when the water is high. Short distance to the services of the town and a tuktuk always available for a reasonable price.
Sales-oriented beach boys and touts are a pain in the bottom when heading to swim in the sea or returning from there. However they don’t come to the pool and garden area and apprently won’t swim either. :)
No restaurant services of any kind at the site. A little beverage & snacks bar or such would be nice.

Unfortunately, there was no place to eat within the cottages or even near by. We had to hire a tuk-tuk to take us everywhere. The bathroom shower would not get hot or even warm. No shower curtains and the water ran into the hallway. Bed was super hard.

Very good customer support, clean rooms and very quiet for relaxation and couple outing.
No Tv

the staff was welcoming, the property was clean ,everything was a 10/10

The whole property is extremely peaceful and calm. The staff is super helpful and amazing. We asked for fresh coconuts every morning and the studio offers exactly what you need. We were overjoyed by our stay and will definitely return!
The only small thing is that payment is required in cash or by mpesa, and there could be a sign off the main road. Otherwise the property ticked off all the boxes and more!

The pool was very nice and the staff were friendly always ready to help. The room also had both a fan and air conditioner keeping it warm. Walking distance to a couple of historical sites and the beach. Nice View to watch the Sunrise.
Lack of on-site restaurant. But there was a close one nearby.
4.2
The location near the beach and the quietness are very good, as all other reviewers are saying.
The local manager ('caretaker') was not in when I arrrived although I had indicated my estimated arrival time coming all the way from Nairobi by train via Mombassa. As such the caretaker was friendly but also very vague and absent-minded. If you don't have MPesa (e.g. non-Kenyans) to settle the bill, you have to bring loads of cash. The caretaker doesn't provide you with a receipt, despite promising it several times, which is very unprofessional.

Great location right on the beach, the pool is amazing and just in front of the rooms. The rooms with balcony are definitely great as they give access to pool and garden right out of the door. Kitchen is a plus and definitely important here since the hotel does not have any dining facility nor breakfast. The Malindi village is reachable via tuk tuk or a 30 mins walk, there are not many restaurants arpound Diwani hotel but tuk tuk rides are cheap. The room are well maintained and kept clean, and so i the garden. All in all a good experience!
The beach is waaaay nicer in the Watamu area, Malindi in general is not that great beach-wise, but that is not a foult of the hotel itself. On the beach EVERYWHERE there are Masai/beach-boys trying to sell any kind of stuff, from souvenirs to boat trips and safaris. They are VERY annoying to the point that nobody sits on the beach since it would be a constand hassle of guys coming one after the other - again, not a fault of the hotel which keeps good security on the beachfront, but something to know if you pick Malindi as beach destination and like to sit on the beach - impossible here unless you like chatting for hours with hustlers!

Swimming pool was great and everything was clean.
The entrance of the resort is a building site and was not easy to find. The power kept going off, this made it difficult to work. When you go near the beach people harass you and wont leave you alone (security does nothing).

This property is right at the seaside, beautiful to swim in the sea. Great pool and very clean.
The staff at the compound is amazing, very friendly, always asking if we need something.
There is no restaurant, no bar. This is sometimes a disadvantage but can also be an advantage - the place is very quiet at night. If you walk a few minutes along the beach, you reach Coco Beach restaurant with a variety of food and a splendid view. Or for 300 KES you can take a Tuktuk to town for shopping and eating, there are waiting for you right at the gate.
It is not very adequate these days that payment can only be done in cash, this is a lot of money to carry if you stay longer. I had to wait more than 8 days to get the receipt, this was obviously only possible by the boss, I had to remind several times - this is not a good practice and really opposite to the very friendly, helpful and engaged staff at the compound.
The size of the studio was smaller than confirmed in the booking; maybe they count the balcony to it.
The beach boys on the beach are really annoying, but this is not the fault of Diwani cottage.
Suggestions: It would be nice to have at least a bottle of drinking water in the room at the arrival and liquid for dish washing in the kitchen.

nice location, great swimming pool and a fine room
It really annoys me that you can’t pay by card/online and that it isn’t communicated beforehand. I was told to get in touch with the boss for an online payment option, but contact with her was very difficult. She never really responded to my question, which let me to pay cash in the end. To me that is not very hospitable and definitely not the level of service you find elsewhere in Kenya. The rest of the staff was just fine.
Also note that the AC in my room wasn’t working very well. At least, I couldn’t turn it up, so it was still quite hot during the night.
