We liked the area the house was in. The walk to the main part of town was good also.
There was nothing we didn’t like.

The location was close to town. No problems with the neighbours. It was a miner's cottage and felt very homely.
We could have stayed longer... so much to see and do in Broken Hill and surrounds.

Excellent family accommodation. Working aircon, comfy beds. Great communication with owner

This is a rustic type of property, if you are looking for a property with character, rather than the usual modern build, then you might enjoy this one. The kitchen and bathroom are relatively modern and are big. The house has 3 quite big bedrooms, all with double beds, so 6 people can be easily slept in this property. Access was easy by way of getting a key from the locked key box at the house. The walk to the main part of town was about 20 minutes. Plenty of free car parking on the street near the house.

No breakfast purchased ours
Quaint little cottage but needs a lot of TLC. Needs a lot of maintenance, floor boards, hand rail down the stairs. A good clean up in the back yard. Nice little house for lots of people. We liked it as we had our own space

The location was a little out of the way but we were able to walk to a nearby hotel for dinner.
Everything you could need was provided. Very well heated.
Outside presentation was a little disconcerting but pleasantly surprised by the inside.

Not much
The backyard of this place was so dangerous!! It was not safe for kids at all. It had a busted toilet in the laundry that had water in it, a covered up pit in the old carport that didn't look secure, iron missing off the back fence and an old above ground pool. I could not let my kids go out there. The back yard was not secure, anyone could come in and the lock on the back door wasn't very secure.
The description stated it had a fire place, there was a gas heater in that that didn't work. The stove didn't work. The only heating was a reverse cycle stuffed in the front window. No instructions on not using the stove or the gas heater.
There was no fire extinguisher.
The description said there was an outside area to enjoy....there was nothing to enjoy.

Location was good
The house is old but not in good condition. Hole in one wall, broken appliances, backyard not safe. Draughty and a bit dirty.

great beds, free wifi, beds were cosy, had a washing machine, didn’t have to share with others, it was quiet
the ramp out the back was a bit treacherous and was disappointed the gas stove/oven wasn’t working but the hot plates and mini oven did the job just fine.

It was well equipped and clean. Also very well decorated and maintained, and well priced. It was a treasure.
The steps down to the bathroom were dangerous for people our age. There was only one step but it was the colour of the tiles on the floor below making it hard to see the edge. In fact I fell in the night. I believe a railing, or at the least, a coloured safety strip on the step would be a good safety feature. Also I think I may have left a jumper in one of the drawers but haven't heard from the owner. Mind you, I have only just arrived home after a big trip so haven't as yet contacted the owner to see if my jumoper has been located.

The location is in a very quiet part of Broken Hill so no problems there. The property is very old but has been renovated inside. It is comfortable but small. The three bedrooms are comfortable and all double so 6 people can stay easily.
We enjoyed our stay which was a weekend (2 nights).
Well there isn't anything we didn't like but these are merely suggestions and helpful hints I think -
1. I would say you should bring your own pillows if possible. I didn't like mine which was a feather pillow. Way to soft and flat for me. It is a personal choice. 2. We went out to Silverton for a day and took a picnic but there are not any plastic containers to use for salads or vegetables. There are no real sharp knives to cut anything. Some of those things need to be in the cupboards. 3. You have to step into the bathtub for the shower use. There should be a plastic suction mat in the tub because it is slippery and if someone slipped it could be bad. Again, all small things but really helpful when people are staying.

backyard was a mess. parking in the backyard would be great

Location was fine. Cottage in a suburban street, so got to experience home accommodation in Broken Hill. Bedrooms were a good size, beds very comfortable. Living, kitchen area was fine. Books and games supplied, hosts provided basics, which was appreciated.
Sensor light had been turned off, so had to find the key in the dark. No problem after that.

We went to Alfresco for breakfast as we always do.
We liked having plenty of room in the cottage.
I , unlike my company for the couple of days, didn’t know how to get the shower to work! Me bad!!
I also think that yellow paint could be applied to the edges of the stairs going down outside the bathroom.

The yard was desolate but we weren't needing that area! Inside was clean, beds were comfy, water was hot.

Nothing.
Dirty entrance to front door, smells, used food stuffs in cupboard, useless shower, back yard looks like a bomb went off,one window in from bedroom had old foil covering it and spider webs everywhere on it.paid for two nights and only stayed one because it was that horrible.NO OFF STREET PARKING FOR YOUR CAR WORRYING SOMEONE MAY STEAL IT.owner should be ashamed asking the amount he is charging to stay there,NEVER AGAIN.

A tidy, well maintained property thoughtfully prepared.

Doesn't look anything from the outside, but comfortable and clean accommodation with good faciliities, including Netflix and Youtube (important as some TV station reception poor). As we came by train, access to my cousin's vehical (or rental car) was critical to get around, because shops etc let alone sights were a fair walk. Washing machine was used and good.
Only disappointments were shortage of cleaning chemicals like spray and wipe, disinfectant and toilet duck. This was critical due to an erant tom cat urinating on front door mat; had to use hot water and most of disinfectant to remove smell.
I would advise owners to properly repair holes in floor boards (rather than covering with duct tape and mat) and poorly patched holes in plaster, as these detract otherwise from the presentation of the internals of the property.
In general would definitely stay again and recommend rental to three singles or couples/families travelling together, because of 3 double bedrooms.
See above re cleaning chemicals, internal repairs, TV reception (minimized by Netflix, Stan and Youtube) and tom cat (wish I had a gun!)

Spacious 3 double beds with comfortable lounge, bathroom and kitchen facilities. Some board games were provided which was a nice touch. Original floorboards and high ceilings is a nice change from the typical motel room.
Parking was a little ambiguous. We located the manual gate to open for parking after we got into the house, but decided it was easier to park on the side street. Only a miner mishap.

Easy access & plenty of parking.
Toilet is in the bathroom.

Little cottage tucked away up the back of Broken Hill. Close to Woolworths, but not much else (eg cafes, dining) around the area where the cottage is -- this was OK though as we had a car. Was really good to have use of a full kitchen and washing machine. Bobby was very responsive with questions when we were staying at the property, and check in/out was simple.
Could have used a dryer as we did a load of washing but never managed to get it dry before having to leave the next day. TV reception breaks up occasionally when seeking free to air channels, but there is good internet and wifi for things like netflix.

It had everything we needed. Good to experience an authentic miner’s cottage.
