Surrounded by more than 5 wooded acres, Blackwater Glade has been recently renovated in the owner’s favorite “Sundance style”. A large wrap around deck plus porches front and back provide the ideal setting for nature lovers of every age. The fantastic location offers easy opportunities for hiking, biking, fishing and more. It is just a short drive to beautiful Canaan Valley State Park, Blackwater Falls and the slopes at Timberline Mountain. We love it there - we have stayed in the same place for the past few years. The only issue was the screen door on the back door. The screen had a hole in it. We tried to fix it but we couldn't. There was also a pair of men's underwear left on one of the beds but we just threw them away

We had the best time at Blackwater Glade! The kids loved that they had their own room and bathroom. The jacuzzi out side on the deck was a hit! Very relaxing atmosphere. We have been coming to West Virginia for many years and had many rentals and we enjoyed this one the most! We had a couple minor issues and best of Canaan were on it immediately, will definitely rent from them again.

We have been vacationing, camping, hiking in Canaan Valley for 30 years. We have had some not so great rental experiences with other companies but Best of Canaan is truly the best. We have stayed in multiple houses and each one has been wonderful. The staff has always been attentive to any issue that comes up and makes check in and out easy and stress free. I can’t recommend them enough!

The house was nice, set away from the road and with lots of outdoor space for our dog to run around. There is an adorable loop trail in the back of the property and a couple of Adirondack chairs where one can sit quietly and drink their coffee. The Best of Canaan team was very responsive and was able to address some of the questions/ issues we had within a day (helping us figure out how to start the fireplace). The internet speed was pretty slow (5 Mbps rather than 50 Mbps) and restarting the modem/ router did not help. All in all it was a positive experience.

Loved this house. Great communal living/kitchen/dining area. The bedrooms were quite and comfortable. The walking trails were an added perk that me and the dog really enjoyed. The staff at Best of Canaan are always great and friendly to work with. Totally different than our experience with that jerk Matt over at Mountain Top Reality.

Overall the cabin it's self was fine . The issues were with the rental company failing to maintain the property. The heat was set on 50 degrees when we arrived, the baseboard heater in the living room was not working due to a breaker being off. The mechanism inside the gas fireplace needed batteries replaced and we had to turn the hot water tank on. In addition the hot tub was in poor condition and was not used . According to Diane from Best of Canaan the hot tub was stained due to the sediment in the water , which is why it's called Blackwater . The issues with this explanation is that 1) the residue came off on my hands, 2) this is the only hottub in this community ( Timberline ) that I've seen in this condition 3) Blackwater is called such due to tannic acid from hemlock and spruce needles, giving the water it's hue. I was refunded 100 dollars for the hot tub fee . After visiting canaan for the last 8 years , I've never experienced such issues or unapologetic response .

We loved the cabin. It met our needs for all our family that came in from several states. Everything was great but the Internet was horrible and a family member who had to work and needed internet to work. We also love to watch movies as a family and the internet failed us. It was slower than slow.

We also appreciated that the owner allows dogs there,too. The floor plan was one big reason for us to book this property ....4 bedrooms each with its own bathroom...no one had to share!!
The cabin was beautifully decorated; we felt very cozy and relaxed.
While the kitchen was well equipped and there was a new dishwasher, we have to say that the lighting is, unfortunately, terrible!!. We did a lot of cooking and had to bring in a floor lamp and desk lamps to be able to see properly. It would also be nice if the many wall switches in the kitchen and great room were labeled as to what they control. There were no directions for the great room ceiling fan but we finally figured it out. Overall though, this is a very nice place and I am sure many visitors would enjoy it.

The house was perfect for us. 4 bathrooms so no one had to share! Loved the Electrolux washer/dryer and Williams Sonoma dishes. We take lots of long weekend trips and the little touches make being away from home easier. We love to find the vacation homes with the same amenities we’re accustomed to having at home. The kids adored the path in the backyard. Definitely a highlight for them!

The house was great. 4 bedrooms & 4 baths. I only saw 1 small spider in the house, and I am always on the lookout for them. The only real issue I had was there is not good lighting in the kitchen. I had to get a floor lamp from one of the bedrooms and put it on the kitchen counter. They attempted to add a couple small ones for the countertop but they did not shine properly how you would need them. They could use a larger broom as the decks are huge and need swept off from the trees. The grill is very easy to use as it is hooked up to a gas line. No need to worry about the propane tank. We did buy WD-40 to fix the squeaky front door and tape to fix the screen door as the weather was 75 degrees and we could open and air out the house. Which is no problem for us as we always leave our rental homes in better condition than we find them. It was a really nice home, all the bathrooms were updated. we would stay there again.

The house was beautiful and well appointed. However, we had to call the management company several times during our stay. They were responsive and sent out a wonderfully nice maintenance man twice. Evidently, the dishwasher had been not working for a period of time, it was worked on, but didn't work for us at all, despite our lovely maintenance man coming out twice. No one wants to do dishes on vacation, so that was disappointing. The gas fireplace was lovely until the last 24 hours of our stay when it stopped working all together. The hot tub was warm and clean, but has lots of jets not working as it has some age on it. The stove also needs calibration as it took everything longer to cook, and we cooked every meal in the home. The house was very well appointed and had lots of little extras to make cooking easy.
We enjoyed the the whole house nonetheless. We hiked on the trails, went skiing, skating, played games and our dogs enjoyed the back yard. The best part was being together and with a few improvements it really could be a 5 star home.

Second winter renting this adorable house nestled in the woods. Having four full bathrooms is a definite plus as well as the full size washer and dryer. The showers are nice and there was always plenty of hot water. The kitchen has adequate supplies for meal making. The living room furniture is comfortable and the gas grill was located conveniently on the back deck. All four bedrooms have their own access to outside. Comfortably accommodated our party of eight again this trip.
The only negative about the house was the cleanliness upon arrival. The floors had not been swept or vacuumed. We vacuumed and swept a large amount of dirt throughout the main living area including underneath the couch and both chairs and knocked down large cobwebs in the front windows. We also found empty candy wrappers, empty candy cartons, empty solo cups and bandaids under one of the beds as well as a broken wicker chair in the same bedroom. It was apparent that the house hadn’t be cleaned since the last renters even though there is a cleaning fee as part of the rental agreement. We reported that the dishwasher was not operable on arrival and it still had not been fixed or looked at after staying for five days.

The property is stunningly beautiful in its surroundings. The inside is very well laid out and easy to relax in. Great high-end appliances and four well appointed bathrooms add to the comfort of this perfect property. Plenty of dishes and cookware. An unforeseeable plumbing issue occurred but the management company (Donna) were so quick to respond and the plumbers were sent to take care of it in a timely manner. My husband and I came for three nights to celebrate our anniversary. The cabin was beautiful. The location was beautiful, the back yard was stunning and peaceful. The cabin was one of the best stocked we’ve been to, and we appreciated that! We did have an issue with the gas fireplace, within hours of arriving we called the rental office to inform this, they said someone would come out the next day to take a look. Unfortunately no one ever came, and we didn’t take the time to call back, we were busy enjoying our stay. So that was a bummer. I was also glad no children were with us because the loft steps were very very steep, not complaining about it just possibly alerting others with small children. Had our three boys been with us it would have definitely been off limits. Overall a fantastic stay, would definitely recommend.

My husband and I came for three nights to celebrate our anniversary. The cabin was beautiful. The location was beautiful, the back yard was stunning and peaceful. The cabin was one of the best stocked we’ve been to, and we appreciated that! We did have an issue with the gas fireplace, within hours of arriving we called the rental office to inform this, they said someone would come out the next day to take a look. Unfortunately no one ever came, and we didn’t take the time to call back, we were busy enjoying our stay. So that was a bummer. I was also glad no children were with us because the loft steps were very very steep, not complaining about it just possibly alerting others with small children. Had our three boys been with us it would have definitely been off limits. Overall a fantastic stay, would definitely recommend.
