About this house rental
Welcome to Fins and Feathers, a hidden gem in the heart of Acadia National Park. We are Spruce Properties Bar Harbor, also available to book directly at our website online, sprucepropertiesbarharbor.wordpress.com.
Bright and spacious home nestled in the woods abutting Acadia National Park. Located on the quiet side of Bar Harbor away from the hustle of busy day traffic, but only 3 min from downtown. Built by a local as a family home in 2005, this house has all the comforts of a new home with all the charm of a well-loved Maine cottage. Enjoy the giant, light-filled living room stocked with books and games, have coffee in the cozy breakfast nook tucked up against the woods, or take advantage of the fully stocked kitchen. There is a beautiful view of Champlain Mountain from the house, which boasts amazingly colorful sunrises and sunsets easily seen from the deck.
Drive past the beautiful Tarn and in between Door and Champlain Mountains to reach our property, located just south of Bar Harbor and set back off the road. You can access the park out the back door, or walk to the hidden stream nearby. It's a very short drive to either the Cadillac South Ridge Trail or the Dorr Mountain Ladder Trail. Our family is very familiar with hikes and places to go in the Park, and would be happy to offer suggestions catered to your tastes. Acadia surrounds you!
Enter the bottom floor to find a large mudroom and the first large queen bedroom with a sleeper sofa and living area. Up the stairs will be the breakfast nook, next to the commodious kitchen and extra half bathroom on the right. Around the corner is the open living room and dining area with plenty of windows and a large sliding door leading out to the deck with the grill. Around the next corner is the second queen bedroom and the stairs to the second floor. At the top of the stairs there is the laundry room, full tiled bathroom with lots of towel racks, and the master bedroom and kids' bedroom. The spacious master bedroom has a queen bed, two closets, and two desk spaces. The kids' bedroom is smaller and has two twin beds. I would describe our house as spacious and accommodating, everything shipshape but without a lot of frills.
Notes: This property is not handicapped-accessible. There is NO A/C, but we have fans in each room if it gets too warm. Parking for 3 cars next to the house. Bar Harbor rental registration #VR2R24-018.

Our family had a wonderful time staying in this house. It gave us plenty of space and everything we needed. The owner stopped by with some thoughtful items for the house and was so kind. It was a lovely week of retreating from the world - thank you!

Great location to hiking and town
The amount of space was just right for our family
Kitchen was well stocked for our cooking needs
Had a problem with the grill but was fixed by the homeowner.
The owners were attentive to any questions we had about the area
It was unusually warm in Maine, there were fans in all the rooms which was nice but loud. The house was also damp-maybe due to it being so warm and humid?
Overall, we had a great trip

Property is situated just off the main road, but surprisingly quiet. Plenty of hot water. Easy access to national park and trail heads. Short drive into Bar Harbor for dining and shopping. Can walk to Otter Creek for coffee.
Definitely the right location for this part of the tourist season.

We actually did not stay in this one. We were upgraded to a downtown house. It was close to everything. The house was fantastic and so was Kyle. We had the best time.

This was a great location for our family. Pros: Accessible to both the town and the entrances to the national park. Spacious house at the base of the mountain. Beds were comfy. Cons: The only shower/tub in the house is dated and could use replacing. The hot water unexpectedly went out our last night there. It was an inconvenience, but not the end of the world. From the property manager's standpoint, it's hard to predict something like that happening. Overall, we enjoyed the stay.

The house was perfect for our family vacation. It was clean and spacious with everything we needed. The location was great. We were able to get to Bar Harbor and Acadia Park easily and quickly — which is great when you’re with one and three year olds! There is so much to do in this area. The kids had a blast, and we wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks for a great stay!

The house was a great fit for our family trip. It's a quick drive into the village of bar harbor. Also it is right next to Acadia national Park entrance, and so easy to get to and from popular Acadia spots. The house is exactly as described in the property description. Everything wasn't great working order. On the couple of times I had a quick questions for the owners, they responded hopefully, and almost immediately. I would definitely recommend this home.

Property is close to trails for Dorr, Cadillac, Champlain, and a nice swim at Seal Cove! Easy bike ride to Carriage Trail near The Triad, and a simple 5 minute drive to town. Loved our trip and had a great time!

The best part about this house is definitely its location. We were practically inside Acadia NP and it was so quick and easy to drive everywhere, including beating the crowds to some of the more popular spots, like parking at Sand Beach. Anyone with young kids will appreciate the convenience of being able to zip home for a quick break or forgotten item. Bar Harbor is about 12 minutes away and the perfect distance to get away from the crowds, but super easy to visit for a meal or shopping. The house itself was as-described and very comfortable. The pots/pans/cooking utensils were in excellent shape, which is such a nice surprise for a rental house! Some of the high-touch surfaces (ex: banisters) felt sticky and like they needed a good cleaning, but otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay and would return.

The check in was pretty simple. The cleaning crew left the keys inside of the house and the door unlocked. It’s not visible from the road, but the mailbox is easy to spot. There’s one shower on the third floor and bedrooms on all three floors. The kitchen is fully equipped. The owner was very responsive.

Great Family Home
This is exactly as listed. Nice, clean home with all necessities. It was a quick drive to downtown Bar Harbor but far away enough to enjoy being in the mountains. Great location and great home to be with a group. The hosts were very responsive to any question. Would recommend!

Acadia Vacation Rental
This is a great property for an extended family stay in Acadia, with three bedrooms and ample living space. The kitchen is well stocked for eating in. The property is centrally located on Otter Creek Drive so there is easy access to Bar Harbor and Acadia trails on both the eastern and western peninsulas.
We would definitely book this one again.

Perfect Family Place
This lovely house provided the perfect setting for family to gather. It was private, and most importantly, easy access to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park where we spent much of our time. There were multiple age groups and something for everyone to enjoy! Evenings around the fire was a great way to end the days. We hope to return again in the future!

Lovely spot close to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor
The house known as Fins and Feathers is in a lovely location, and is comfortable for small families. The lodging has comfortable beds, plenty of dishes and utensils to feed a group, and is managed by a responsive couple who are lovely to work with. They even let us back into the house one rainy evening after we locked ourselves out! There was room to spread out, and an upstairs bathroom with a shower/bath tub. toilet and sink, as well as a small half bath (sink and toilet) on the main level. Things to consider for improvement: a full roll of toilet paper in each bathroom, and a spare. as well as a full roll of paper towels when you arrive; sharper knives for cooking; copies of maps to nearby hiking trails. There is a lovely creek nearby that you can wade in or even take a dip in one of its pools. It is easy to reach when you know how to find it, and is just minutes away by foot. You are also close to town (short drive) and the entrances to the park. Really well located.

Lovely Stay in Acadia!
Fins & Feathers was a fantastic spot for our family! We had 4 adults and 4 teens and there was plenty of room for us to be very comfortable. Kyle & Catrina were super responsive and made sure to check in with us to see if we had any questions. The location was perfect as it is a short drive to downtown Bar Harbor and the park is easily accessible. We loved finding the swimming hole and spending time at the fire pit. Acadia is such a special place and this property made it even more so!! Thank you, Kyle & Catrina, for a wonderful stay!

Perfect National Park Experience
All the comforts that you would want with the park right in your backyard. The house and location were just what we were looking for. Centrally located to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Super cool special access to our favorite "pool" and a short drive to all the trails we wanted to explore. Kyle was a great host and was available for anything we needed. Our trip was better because we found this place. The kids looked forward to coming back each evening after our adventures to the "Acadia home".

Perfect spot for an active family vacation
This was a spacious and comfortable home in an ideal location right near Otter Cliffs and the ring road. We were ably and responsively hosted by Kyle, who made sure we had everything we needed. Great for families, ample space and storage, great kitchen. Just a wonderful spot and be sure to ask Kyle about special spots that you can walk to easily from the house - not to be missed. We hope to be back here again next year!
