Very cozy home with a lovely master bedroom a nice outdoor hot tub.
5.0 / 5.0
This was our 2nd Stay at the Wine Down Retreat. We came back for all the right reasons. The house is spectacular, clean, spacious, all the things from home you need to stay....just bring food and everything else you need is there. From Smart TV and WiFi in every room, to the huge windows in every room...We just love downtown Bridgeton, from the tiny little breakfast cafes to the new pub/restaurant, and only 45 Minutes from North Conway.
We stay in the loft room with the King Bed, Wood Stove, incredible view of the Long Lake.
The hot tub was another reason to stay there, what a stay being in the hot tub during a storm that brought 3+ feet of snow.
Also have to give a shout out to the incredible neighbors....we got stuck at the bottom of the hill in 3 feet of snow....complete strangers came out on 2 separate occasions to help dig us out and offer us dinner if we didnt make it downtown.
We are already planning our 3rd trip to the Wine Down Retreat this Summer or Fall and will become the only place we will stay.
BOOK IT !!!! you cant go wrong !!! 5 Star stay without question !!!

We came to this rental to host Thanksgiving for our family and we absolutely fell in love!!! The space was large but cozy, so beautifully decorated, had everything we needed, and the hot tub on a cold night was the best! We will be back for sure :)

I had a great time on this property for a small getaway during the holiday weekend. The house was spacious and clean. The hot tub was especially wonderful, and was the best i ever stayed in. The heated pads were great for safety during this time of year. 10/10 will rent again!

Once again this house and stay checked all the boxes. This visit during winter we were able to partake in Pleasant Mountain 15 min away for skiing and Mount Abram about 40 ish min from the house. It was perfect. Not too cold, sunny, and wonderful. The new bonus since the stay the previous Fall ‘21 was the addition of a very nice hot tub lights and music connection included! That made for very relaxing evenings! This post Christmas and New Year’s trip to the house was wonderful. With its cleanliness, amenities (plenty of towels - a pet peeve of mine, a well stocked kitchen, sleds, snow tube for fun…), and warmth this home is the perfect stay any time of year! Highly recommend!
Ps - there were 11 of us staying at any given point in the trip and it was perfectly fine and did not feel cramped.

House was super clean and kitchen was well stocked. Driveway is steep and best accessed by SUV in winter.

This super clean home was truly the perfect place to host Thanksgiving. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to make a turkey dinner and all the sides. The large dinning room table fit our party of 10. Our kids were occupied with the many games and activities at the house which made prep time much easier. They loved the air hockey and all the board games. They found some hiking trails right out the backyard that connected to a larger trail called "Sara's Path." Everyone loved soaking in the large hot tub especially after running in a Turkey Trot! We were able to turn on the heated mats which made it much easier to walk when it was close to freezing outside. There was plenty of cut firewood to relax by the firepit. The location is excellent since the home is very private but only a five minute ride to shops and restaurants. We plan to stay here again!

My family of five had a wonderful stay. The home was so clean, and it had everything you could want! The kitchen was stocked with everything it even had lighters and expandable sticks for toasting marshmallows. My kids discovered the great game room in the basement. They really loved the air hockey table. They loved playing ping pong too. We lucked out with beautiful weather for November, but the evenings were cool. However, the firepit and large hot tub were amazing. It was so nice to listen to music and look up at the stars while we soaked in the hot tub! The neighborhood is so peaceful, surrounded by trees but the houses are amazing. We met some really nice neighbors on our long walks, and we were able to see Long Lake. I ran for about four miles without having to leave the dirt road and not having to worry about speeding cars. I'm not sure what others have said about the road but it is smooth, and it is actually in much better shape than many of the surrounding roads. Main Street in Bridgton is so cute, and it will take you back to that old New England main street with small local stores and restaurants. We ate at the Black Horse Tavern one night which is excellent and Gastropub. Then one evening we visited 290 Main St in Norway and enjoyed live music with dinner. That is another nice town with a great Main Street filled with shops and restaurants. There was plenty of room where each of our kids got their own room. We slept in an amazing bedroom with a wood fireplace, TV and beautiful skylights and windows. It offered the adults a place to unwind and have a drink in front of the fireplace and watch TV. There are a ton of books and board games to keep you occupied on a raining evening. We definitely plan to return when the snow comes and go skiing at nearby Pleasant Mountain.

My family enjoyed their time at this beautiful home. The home is spacious and immaculate. I appreciated how well stocked the kitchen was. The backyard was pretty amazing... hot tub, fire pit, grill, and lovely deck. The town of Bridgton is beautiful. Cute little shops, restaurants and friendly people. Highly recommend this home...looking forward to another visit!

We enjoyed a beautiful autumn weekend with the foliage, hiking and coming back to relax in this nice clean house. It had all the amenities for cooking, baking and even a crock pot for easy meal prep. There was a large hot tub that we just opened up, it stays on and doesn't require any care. After a long hike on Pleasant mountain, we enjoyed a hot tub, connected our phone to bluetooth and enjoyed some music while relaxing in the hot tub. There were even separate hot tub towels by the back door, right there, making it so easy. There is also a patio set and fire pit for early evening lounging outside.
Only 5 minutes to downtown Bridgton, where we enjoyed a breakfast at Beth's cafe, then shopped around at Reny's and other local stores.
We went for a run down the dirt road which is very private.
Overall a nice quiet house in the woods with plenty of space for a family to enjoy and relax.

Our family enjoyed a wonderful getaway to this beautiful Bridgton home. The hosts provided everything we could possibly need to make our stay comfortable. A detailed binder gave us great information about the area (new to us!) and wonderful recommendations of places to eat and things to do. We appreciated that the linens and toiletries were included. The house was clean and well stocked with all of the comforts of home (and then some!). We were able to use portable chairs for our trip to the drive-in movie and we enjoyed the collection of family board games! The beds were very comfortable and our daughter was thrilled to find a cozy blanket for cuddling up on the couch. The hot tub was a nice treat- especially after a father/son golf day. The surrounding neighborhood provided privacy, yet we never felt secluded. We enjoyed morning walks with gorgeous views and friendly neighbors. We look forward to a future stay at this wonderful home ~ we can see the benefits of enjoying the home in all seasons!

The house was very roomy and loved the decor. The kitchen had all we needed and loved the loft and all the trees! We had fun catching up with military friends we hadn’t seen in 30 years! It was definitely a sweet reunion. Loved the shops and the lakes nearby. Just wished we had a better view of the water.

We had a really wonderful stay at the home. We have been vacationing in Bridgton for over 40 years and this home allowed us to be close to family yet have our own space. The owners have gone to great lengths to meet every possible need a renter could want the kitchen was very well stocked the bedrooms are spacious and the office touch down areas were great!!! Would highly recommend this property to anyone.

Summer Splendor
Perfect temps, perfect house, perfect views! The post Labor Day trip was laid back and peaceful. Great time to take advantage of the area and it’s still dip in the lake temps, apple picking, hiking and not busy.
The house was one of the most stocked and well equipped I’ve ever stayed at via Vacasa, VRBO, or Airbnb. Tons of silverware, plates, serving dishes, even foil and storage containers. Cute touches like large popcorn bowl and a popcorn popper, metal expanding stakes for roasting marshmallows in the fire pit. Very clean, and beautifully and lovingly decorated home with nice furnishings and local art. Easily sleeps 10. The bonus room with the king bed is such a beautiful room with light and windows. I stayed in the large Queen room which was huge with plenty of room and cozy reading chair. Remote control window AC units worked great.
It’s just a few miles to Highland Lake Beach which is public access and so very pretty. Nice “beach” area for adults and especially kids as well as a playground. My 4 yo enjoyed it very much. Life vests in various sizes and tubes hanging up in garage for use. Very accommodating. Overall a beautiful stay in the trees with views of Long Lake down the driveway across the street and lots of nearby parks, hiking (we enjoyed Bald Pate), and the little downtown is super cute. We cannot wait to come back to the home and the area!!! A must stay!

Emphasis on this is not being a lake house, it's a house in the middle of the woods, and you can't even see the lake from it. The property was originally marketed with lake access and a boat dock, but the HOA is blocking all renters from use of these amenities, and the public access points aren't anywhere near the house. We discovered this a month before our stay by looking at the listing for new reviews and saw the updates (we were never contacted by Vacasa). We contacted management for a refund because that was the whole reason we booked the house. Communication was horrible and after three weeks of back and forth we were told a refund would not be provided so we were stuck with the overpriced house. The outside deck and fire pit areas are filthy, the inside is decent, but the layout upstairs is clumsy and the guests staying in the bedroom with vaulted ceilings have to enter the master bedroom to use the bathroom. This house is not a good rental without the lake access, combined with being a 20+ minute drive from Naples and the neighbors all make it very obvious that they don't want renters staying in their community.

Unprofessional service
My family and I just recently stayed here at the beginning of June. Ended up checking out a day early. If you notice at the bottom of the listing it states “renters are not allowed to use the private beach access per HOA” vacasa did not know this until I informed them of this upon checking in. Instead of partially refunding me they waited 2 weeks to get in touch so they could add this information to there listing and denied any partial refund. As for the house this is certainly more of a winter rental for near skiiing at Shawnee peak, clean and tidy. Only the back burners work on the stove which we didn’t find out until 2 days into our stay…this property is certainly not for accessing a lake especially since you have to drive into Naples to actually use it :/ I would not book with vacasa again

Beautiful home no lake view or access
If the home had the Lakeview and access would give it 5 stars even with the other mishaps for our group. The home itself is great and beautifully furnished. The space was perfect for our 3 families a total of 5 adults, 3 teen/tweens and a toddler. Enough towels and linens for all of us. Loved the outdoor space- deck with table and firepit with chairs and wood. Beds and pillows were comoftable. Provided hangers, hand soap, some shower starter supplies, blow dryer, extra blankets and most rooms had window ac. Some hang ups during our stay included: no lake view as pictured and described in listing, no lake access as of March 2021, ants in the showers and one of the beds in the bunk room, pans/pots that are nonmagnetic so they did not work for the stove, no ac unit in the loft room. I would also note that the loft room gets very bright when the sun rises which was around 430am due to the large windows and the curtians not covering them completely. It was difficult to convince our toddler it was too early to get up, but loved this space. Unfortunately we had booked this home to spend some time on the lake with our kids like we had in Maine with our dad as kids ourselves. We were in Maine for our fathers memorial and it was a huge let down without the lake memories we hoped to make. Our group was very disappointed and frustrated that this property was inaccurately describe as we would have booked a different place if there was no lake access and view from this home. Also Google maps has issues locating the home only one out of the 5 adults was able to located the address using maps.

Nice house!
House was well-appointed, nicely furnished and very clean. 10-12 minute drive to Shawnee Peak for skiing which was convenient. Five minute drive to town for restaurants / takeout. Would stay at this home again!
