The place is in a good location and near beaches has lots of potential but obviously staged and not truthful in advertising.. The not so good and reason for rating. This was sent to VRBO as well as Patrick the owner, I am contacting you to let you know I will be cancelling my stay and VRBO has been contacted as well. The reason for cancelling is due to many discrepancies and cannot put my family through these lack of privacy, food on dishes, leaking toilet that goes on and off ever 10-15 min even after trying to jiggle the chain to get it to stop, shirt found (not ours) stuffed in chair, the room over the kitchen table is not really a 3 bedroom (lofts make shift conversion), railing is unsafe, curtens on PVC piping does not give enough privacy, make shift, not enough towels or bedding for everyone, various things either not working or broken, knives in kitchen are dirty, runner upstairs is not safe to go up and down, BBQ is a small propane can only put 2 burgers on, area rug on rack strip for carpeting comes through when stepped on and stabs your feet with nail that comes through, no parking permits, etc.

Its location in north shore, close to a lot of great beaches on Kauai. It’s an old property but has all the basic needs for a nice family holiday. Owner was responsive but was more quiet during Easter, which was understandable. I’d recommend it.

Pictures of the property on VRBO site not consistsnt with property we were given. I took pictures should VRBO care to compare and contrast. Multiple examples. One example were coaches were actually futons that converted into beds but there was no bedding that fit the futons. There was one set of twin sheets and one extra pillow but no blankets. The futons required full size sheets. I contacted renter who responded but he referenced the twin sheets as his solution. I had to go out and buy bedding so we could use the futon. Very disappointed.

This condo had all the amenities most (non bougee) families would want. Two private bathrooms, full kitchen, washer dryer. We felt safe and secure in this quiet neighbourhood. The main downstairs bedroom has the ensuite in the room. The main room is completely private. Upstairs is “the loft” one king size bed and a cot. There’s an Asian style sliding door into another area with a king size bed. No real privacy for anyone sleeping in the loft area. There is a bathroom up in “the loft” area; toilet and shower are private, sink is open concept. This would work well for families & friends who are comfortable around each other. Downstairs the couches fold down into double size beds. The kitchen is a modge podge of plates, cutlery ect. Bonus there’s an espresso machine!! No kayak but there is boogie boards and pool noodles. 8 plug in fans. The bathrooms and kitchen cabinets could use a good deep clean in the nooks & crannies otherwise good enough. 10 minute steep walk to gorgeous Anini beach. The grounds of the complex are well kept, beautiful & clean. Owner and cleaning staff are very approachable and helpful. We would stay here again!

We loved the condo. We had plenty of room for 6 adults. We had plenty of oscillating fans to sleep comfortably. The kitchen was well stocked with all we needed. We didn’t walk down to the beach near the condo. The hill looked to dangerous for me. So we drove to Anini Beach only about two miles down the road. The water was so calm and crystal clear. The only down side to staying in Princeville was the distance we had to drive to get to places we wanted to visit. This was the third time my husband and I had visited this island but we brought friends and family with us on this visit. We wanted them to see all the wonderful things we’ve already seen. We spent a lot of time driving.

No air conditioning. Only two bedrooms. Poor son and daughter-in-law had to share room with younger sister. Complained to VRBO, did nothing!

Good location. Furniture and decor was hodge-podge and dated. Unit did not have a/c.

The place was a great for a small group and was cozy and comfortable. The only thing it was missing some of the normal rental staples like sugar, salt, bowls larger than for salad and could use a bit of a TLC but overall would stay again!

It was perfect for us to spend the days (and nights) in Hanalei.

Clean & comfortable condo. Well supplied kitchen & bathrooms. Needs a little TLC. Patrick was approachable and answered my questions quickly & easily. Just a heads up that if travelling with children, not all condo residents are agreeable with happy noise of 4 kids in the pool- even at 6 PM.

Loved this place, super roomy and beautiful, easy parking and our host made check in and check out super easy. I would definitely stay here again!

Patrick and his wife are fantastic hosts and took great care of us! We are so grateful and would work with them again immediately on a future visit. The property is super and very comfortable, and the location is great. There is conflicting info on the VRBO listing about check-in at 3 pm and 4 pm that needs adjustment.

The landlord saved the experience
Ok, I was going to give this place two stars (far darker than the photos show, and poorly equipped). However, after two weeks, I wrote to the landlord Patrick with a list of issues that we wanted addressed. He was absolutely sterling. We had a king-size mattress replaced (old and collapsed), new glasses (we only had four), new chefs knives (we had one), cleaning supplies (there were none). And in the last week, the TV died and the same day I said something he came and delivered a brand-new 55" and got it set up.
So the rating went from two stars to four. He is a first-rate individual - and now, IMO, the place is in much better shape with his additions.
I think he was quite busy and had depended on the cleaning lady to inform him of issues and she let him down terribly.
It's still going to be a lot darker than the pictures, and the listing should note that upstairs is one large living space with a bathroom and the two "bedrooms" are separated shoji screen wall - so very little privacy.
That said, it's a good price, in a very nice neighborhood and he is an excellent landlord. If you see something, say something. There are still a few minor issues (some lights not working) but I would imagine he will remedy those when he gets an opportunity.
All in all, a thoroughly nice guy and I wish I had said something sooner, given how responsive he was.

This place is terrible!
Over all Our stay is really bad! both of the bathroom upstairs and downstairs are leaking , water are dripping all day all night. We use the downstairs bathroom because the water already leak on the ceiling and the wall and when we got home on our third day and we continuously mop the floor .
And both bathrooms smells like a public restroom. Some of kitchen utensils are old and rusted and incomplete. And the coffee maker is too small for the group of 5.
They need to fix both bathrooms.
They need to give us our money back for all the inconvenience that we had.

Great Location
We rented 8/17 through 8/26. The property was clean upon arrival. The wifi was not working, but the owner was quick to get a repair man out, after we did a little trouble shooting. At night, as long as you kept the doors open with fans in front of the doors you could easily sleep comfortably. The room upstairs had another room, but only separated by a paper door. Wouldn't work for separate families. The house had most cooking pots, pans and utensils that we needed. Bathrooms could use some updating, as both were leaking while we were there.
We loved the location and would rent again in the future if we come back to the island again!

Lovely condo and area
It was delightful to stay at the condo! There were two king beds upstairs which were separated by a set of rice paper doors, but that was the extent of the privacy between these two beds — neither room is completely enclosed. The beds and pillows were all very comfortable, and the bedding was clean and nice. The downstairs bed was listed as a king, but it is a queen. The bathrooms are a little old, but they work just fine, and there is a removable shower head in the upstairs bathroom, which was nice. The washer and dryer worked great and were very useful with all of the beach time we spent! Anini Beach was amazing and close to the condo.
The area around the condo was so lovely and fairly quiet. The house stayed at a comfortable temperature when we kept the windows open, and all the screens were in good condition.
The kitchen was clean and nice, and had everything that we needed. The outdoor table and chairs was a semi-private area in the backyard and was very pleasant. We were happy to see that there were beach chairs and beach towels available for use as well. Everything was thought through for our comfort — we would love to stay here again! The only thing that would have helped was having a folder with information about what was needed with checkout — it was very reasonable, but it would be good to know ahead of time.
Kauai is magical! We’ll come again!
