The property has so much potential, and can accommodate a large group w a beautiful private pool! The management co (Vacasa) and the owners were not honest with us about a problem/offensive odor at the home and kept putting us off. We sadly ended up having to abruptly leave after our 3rd day there.
Aside from this, the property needs updating -- towels were scarce, though Vacasa replenished immediately after our request. The pots/pans were not useable (though I believe they've since replaced them after our request)
My family vacation was hardly a vacation, as we spent the first 3 days trying to figure out what the odor was, and then had to leave. The management team at Vacasa, though helpful to start, ended up strongly failing us. I would veer away from Vacasa properties.

So many places to gather! Our crew gravitated towards the kitchen table but in warmer weather would've spent more time on the screened porch or by the pool. There's two comfy couch/ tv areas plus a bonus table and bar downstairs. We loved the arcade games, foosball and ping pong but cruising in the 6 person golf cart was the highlight. The basement opens to the pool so doesn't feel underground except those bedrooms don't have windows which is good if you like it dark! The primary bath has a giant deep tub, very relaxing :) Easy walk to several beach lookouts but a rocky shore, no water access.

When we were looking for a place to stay, we were looking with a place with a nice kitchen and seating area. We were looking for a place to simply relax and unwind but still had some fun indoor activities. This place met our expectations and felt it would be a neat place to return to in the summer. Listening to the water is such a calming thing.

Mac’s Bluff was a delightful rental. It is very spacious and comfortable. The highlight was definitely the pool! With a depth of 10 ft, we were comfortable letting the children spend hours jumping into the pool without concern of them hitting the bottom.
The interior of the house worked well for our group of 10, plenty of dishes, pans, and utensils. The lower level was a perfect spot for games and movies, and the main level provide a great dining spot as well as comfortable lounging.
The pool area, the lower level and the main level were so accommodating that we would definitely stay there again. However, there were some problems.
The unit had two golf, one was gas powdered which we were told was unreliable and should not be use, and the other had a broken charger, which wasn’t replaced until Wednesday.
Communications were often conflicting. Directions such as the internet sign in and the check- out procedures, varied between the web site, emails, and the house book.
As mentioned by other reviewers, the exterior of the house needs some touch ups. The vegetation needs trimming, the wooden trim needs power washing and staining, at least two of the screen doors need the screens reattached, the outdoor shower was unavailable and the outdoor fire pit gas tank was empty.

Our entire family (six adults and three kids) loved staying in this spacious and comfortable vacation home.

Our family (8 adults and 7 children - aged 11 to 6 months) had such a great time at Mac's Bluff! Even though the weather was cooler, the kids were in the heated pool and hot tub every day. Everything on the property was well maintained and clean. We had a fantastic week and made many great memories for the grandchildren. We would definitely book the house again.

Our group of 6 had a wonderful time at Mac’s Bluff. The pool was the big reason we booked here and it did not disappoint. There was plenty of lounging space for our group both inside and out, and the interior living spaces on both floors, including basement bathroom, have been nicely updated. There is also plenty of fridge space, given the two additional beverage fridges downstairs. The house has a good amount of flatware, plates/cups/bowls and overall kitchen supplies. The bathrooms upstairs and on the main floor are original, and the decks and screen doors are not great shape and need replacing. However, the house has new siding/soffits/fascia (and maybe a new roof) and looks great so it seems the new owners are working on updating the property. Vacasa responded very quickly to a maintenance call on Saturday evening when we arrived (the HVAC was making a weird noise), so big thank you to them. We did not realize until staying here that you can drive a cart to the grand beach golf course and also get the ‘resident’ discount, which was a big plus. Just check to make sure the cart has a full tank of gas so you can prevent having to be rescued on the 7th hole! We had a great time and we would definitely return.

We had a family of 12 coming from St Louis and Ohio. We had the best time staying in this house. The kids played the entire time and never got bored enough to get on their tablets! The area is just beautiful. Even though it was March and extremely cold (it snowed on our day 2), we had an absolute amazing time. The house is worn and we did text the rental company about a few hiccups but overall we would rent this house again in the future!!

Loved this property for our team retreat. We were disappointed that the fire place on the main floor didn’t work (small detail) but it was inaccurately listed.

Light and airy, with a wonderful heated pool. It's in a neighborhood with large lots and clear night skies, but close to New Buffalo for support.

There were several things on the property that were listed but didn’t work. A large umbrella would not open, the fire pit didn’t work, there was a grease fire in the grill because it had not been cleaned, one of our kids got locked bathroom because the door would not open even though it was unlocked. The upstairs doors would not close properly. The house has a great design, but needs to be painted And the stairs should be replaced outside. Also one of the large TVs do not work. Also, they advertised walk to beach was closed. We had a great time in spite of these issues, but for the price we paid we would expect not to have these problems.

The home was exactly what we wanted for a long family weekend. Space and areas to gather with something for everyone. The light area feel upstairs was complimented be the cozier atmosphere downstairs.

Spring Break
The home was exactly as pictured! Very spacious and way more than enough room for 4 adults and 7 children. Even though the weather wasn't the greatest, our families were able to enjoy the jacuzzi and indoor activities! The house was very clean and it was equipped with everything that you may need (dishes & utensils for 20+ people, appliances, plenty of towels and blankets).
We had a fantastic trip and we are looking forward to coming again!

Great retreat
This was a lovely place for a long weekend! Everything was as described and the downstairs hangout room was even cooler than we thought. We had no problem with any of the facilities and had a great time!

Overpriced
This house is beautiful from when you walk in... gorgeous living room, kitchen & living space in basement. Outside of that, everything needs a renovation & a major update. For the price that we spent on the home, it was definitely not worth it. Fire place doesn't work in the living room (major disappointed on a fall trip), outdoor seat cushions smelled musty so didn't even use them... they claim to have a local beach within walking distance that isn't closed, as well as a playground, but we never found either. Had to call maintenance to deliver propane tanks... it was just one thing after another, and again, maybe if this was HALF the price, I wouldn't be complaining.
For utensils - plan on bringing extra silverware if you have a large group, as well as extra paper towels and toiletries.
Outside of house has paint peeling, which did not give a relaxed vibe when outside enjoying the day. I could go on and on, but overall I think this house needs some TLC.
Go elsewhere if you want an overall luxurious feel.

Rented this place to celebrate my grandma's 98th bday. It was perfect for what we were looking for. The pool/hot tub were well maintained and the game room basement kept the younger ones entertained for hours. The kitchen has a nice open layout and lots of seating for all of us. The only downside I could think of is that we ran out of shampoo (they provide a small hotel sized shampoo tube that ran out).

Summer Vacation Week @ Mac's Bluff
The "Good" - This is a great home for a large group! We had 13 people (ranging in age from 3-75 years old) and 1 dog, and we had plenty of space. The pool is awesome (we brought some of our own inflatables), and it ended up being the main attraction for the week. Everything was in working order, and there were plenty of blankets, towels, and sitting space. We took the golf cart out on a couple of occasions, and used the outdoor seating area in the backyard on most evenings (the little firepit was perfect for s'mores!).
The "Not-So-Good" - The group who was in the home before us didn't leave until noon on the day we were to arrive for 4pm check-in (check-out is at 10am). When we arrived, the 1 girl who was cleaning was pretty overwhelmed as the place was literally left in shambles. There was food, crumbs, debris, and "stuff" all over the floors, counters, tables, and front porch. She was cleaning until 6:30pm before we were able to fully settle in and begin unpacking our cars. Unfortunately, due to the mess left from the group prior, there were many fruit flies in the house that took us most of the week to get rid of. Bring your own toilet paper, paper towel, garbage bags, and dishwasher soap/pods as the home offers a starter supply only. Also, for a home offering to house a group of up to 15 people, there should have been more forks and spoons available (there were maybe 8 forks, and 6-8 spoons). If everyone wants to sit down to eat together, it's not possible if you need cutlery for the meal.
Overall, we had a fantastic week as a family at Mac's Bluff, and made many memories. It is situated in a great location - easy to get to New Buffalo and Michigan City in just minutes which was nice as well :)
