The hotel is a true gem and surely belongs to my most favorite places ever. The pictures on booking fully reflect reality, actually it is even better than depicted.
The hotel is placed about 2 km away from Kea port in a neighborhood called Vourkari. There are plenty of restaurants around here but you can easily walk back to the port to have dinner.. the rooms are spacious and the ones on the top floor provide a great view on the sea. There are rooms with private pool as well. There is an outdoor as well as an indoor pool. The indoor one is part of the spa which can be booked for exclusive use in time slots of 1.5hrs. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
Lack of a supermarket in the neighborhood, e.g. for water, next is at the port - but the hotel was simply perfect.

We liked the view of the bay
We spent two weeks at Ydor Spa Hotel, looking for exactly what they advertised: tranquility, relaxation, comfort, good food and good service. Unfortunately, the only thing that Ydor is really good at is marketing, taking flattering pictures and writing promising descriptions.
The problem is not that Ydor is bad, but that it is really not the five star hotel they pretend to be. They seemed to have stopped caring after hiring the interior designer and the marketing photographer.
Just a few things; the food at the breakfast is just embarrassing for a five star claim, and the ‘sushi restaurant’ is by far the worst place to eat compared to all other regular places on the same road. Staff is poorly trained and unequiped to smoothly manage even simple requests. We found stains on our fresh sheets and towels at least three times during our stay. Curtains do not block the light and the walls do not block sound. As for the promised ‘peace and tranquility’; the terrace and pool are located directly behind one of the busiest roads on Kea (invisible on all pictures of course) and the massage room borders some sort of noisy machine/washing room. The sauna does not have a timer inside, nor does the hotel offer water while using the sauna! And staff seemed to be instructed to talk to all guests with a ridiculously exaggerated servant demeanor, which makes the whole experience very weird and far form the regular, relaxed and no nonsense hospitality that we found everywhere else in Greece, and on all other places on Kea for that matter.
A previous negative review received a reply from the hotel that implies the guests were only scamming them to get a refund. FYI; we did not ask for any refund, even received an upgrade to our booked room upon arrival, and made our complaints politely known to the staff. They replied by either simply confirming that their food was bad without taking any further action, and just did not ask anymore if we liked our stay, not even at check out.

Loved it all!
3.5
The best things about the hotel are the view and it’s location, the interiors have been done very nicely. The reception staff were excellent and waitress Jenny
very evident that the hotel hasn’t been open very long, some teething issues that need to change for it to be a 5 star hotel.
breakfast menu small, no fruit, yogurt, healthy options, a lot of bread and eggs, pancakes
Always had to ask for things, always filling up own drinks at meal times etc
Grass around sun beds messy and long, not manicured
cheap paper napkins
very small lunch menu
No turn down service in the evening
We did half board for four nights and no change to the menu at all - all sushi/Asian
No towels on sun beds but small blanket/sarongs - just not reflective of 5 star hotel sadly. Definitely more of a 4 star

Furnishing, design, location.
Problem with parking, a lit bit smaller rooms and not rich breakfast for this type of hotel and number of stars.

Gorgeous hotel and wonderful staff. We had a little escape after a friends wedding near Athens. Such a wonderful place to do this. We spent time in our private pool and ate delicious food both in the hotel restaurant and locally. Would happily return!

There is no parking available (hard to find to park on the road)

Ydor hotel is brand new, everything looks fresh, modern, super clean and very well designed, from the outdoor spaces to the building materials and room layout with all the details inside. The rooms are very spacious, very comfortable with epic sea views, the layout is very convenient and all the furniture are nicely chosen to fit the overall style that is super elegant. The reception staff were very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable, the restaurant staff were helpful and kind, the restaurant provided gluten free options for us and the food was excellent.
The pool area is slightly tight and very close to the restaurant area. The service by the pool area could improve a bit.
