Staff, food, private car park, position on Northumberland Street
A lift for luggage and two persons, a coat hook in bathroom, standard taps,

Welcoming staff and delightful room - this place exceeded my expectations. Good breakfast included. Good location in the centre of town and very close to the Northumberland Coast Path. We ate dinner in the restaurant and both had excellent fish dishes.
We liked everything, but the stairs to the room could be tricky for some people.

Beautiful room. We loved the fact there was a sofa and side table to sit and relax. The bed was very comfortable. The room was warm and temperature could be adjusted easily. Windows could be opened for fresh air if required. Loved the tray with kettle, cups, glasses, water and biscuits. Much appreciated. Food was excellent in the restaurant and bar staff very friendly and helpful.
Can't fault anything about the hotel. Would go again. Price means it is for special occasions, but it is Alnmouth so we know everywhere is top dollar. Three steps down to the ensuite bathroom were a bit of a pain in the night as we are oldies, but not too bad.

breakfast was excellent.
staff not only professional but also very cheerful.

Lovely room, friendly staff. Fabulous shower. The bed was very comfortable. A lot of thought had gone into the design and decor. Food was excellent. We will definitely be back
The view looked over the back of other houses but nothing too offensive. There wasn’t anywhere to sit and do makeup etc even though was plenty of space in the room.
3.5
Just the fact the shower had leaked and ruined the paintwork around the shower. Room 6 Needed repairing. Room was very nice otherwise.

Pleasant hotel would recommend for a one night stay. Walking distance to the sea.
Didn’t like the stairs at the hotel especially when carrying my case to the room.

Lovely staff, great food, perfect location. Couldn't fault it at all

Very nicely presented. Food was great.
Room 8 (twin) is a bit snug where the beds are. Very limited parking.

Not great, certainly not as you would expect for that price.
Appalling heat in both rooms. I emailed manager afterwards as well as raising complaint when we were there but I received no reply from manager.

Food was excellent as was the bathroom.
Car park was narrow and difficult to manoeuvre in.

The staff made the whole experience really lovely. They were always upbeat, happy, and made us feel special. The hotel decor was beautiful and so cosy. It really set the scene for our friend group all staying in such a quaint village when we are used to a faster pace of city life.

Great decoration throughout although I did find the stairs a bit steep
The room was cold. The radiator at best got Luke warm so it was an uncomfortable night.
The breakfast was very poor and I didn't realise that the hotel had a curfew. We got locked out and struggled to get in at 11pm as all the doors were locked

Character, style, comfort and very welcoming.
Occasional variations in heating but probably down to the age of the building.

Such a wonderful tonic after the Christmas Hubbub! Our room was great with a seating area, wonderful shower (Loved the Bath House toiletries!) Good refreshment tray with homemade biscuits. We took the dogs and there was lots of room for their beds. The staff were wonderful, very chatty and friendly. Well stocked bar and we enjoyed the wood burning stoves. The evening meal we had was exceptional.
Parking can be an issue. We did have to move the kettle to plus it in.

Food at the Whittling House is exceptional, as is the Hotel as a whole. Unfortunately there is no lounge area so after a lovely meal, and the little bar being full, we spent the final hours of 2022 in our room. The downside of our room (8) was that even with the tv on the bass boom from the music in the bar below was horrendous. The annoying thing is that we were told this had never been reported before, but looking back through previous reviews it obviously had. Music was turned off at 11.45.pm. Comfort in the room was excellent and en suite gorgeous. Staff worked extremely hard and could not be faulted.
Lack of a lounge area. Booming music from downstairs until last orders. Having to place kettle on the floor for access to a plug.

modern fresh clean
the only snag was where the plug was in relation to the kettle.

comfy beds, great food, lovely staff
the room was just a bit cold but duvets and blankets kept us warm so it was fine.

Great location, staff excellent and the food superb
Bathroom was freezing. Could not have a bath as the tap was faulty also the sink tap was faulty.Sadly we were not told when booking we would have to vacate our table at 9.30 on New Years eve the small bar was full and so we had to take our drinks to our room and miss any celebrations. we were very disappointed considering the cost of the evening.

The quality of the food both dinner and breakfast was excellent, lovely large room and well equipped with everything required.
our visit was a particularly wintery weekend and the room was not warm enough, the heating was on but could have been higher to ensure comfort. There was no individual heating controls for the room.
The hot water tap was very unpredictable, resulting in a wet bathroom floor!

rooms a little small for the price, parking very limited.
