We had four wonderful days in this beautiful house in Bagni di Lucca. The apartment was spacious and charming and we lacked nothing. The location is great and the view of the river valley magnificent.
The host was very helpful (and quick in responding) in all communication throughout.
We warmly recommend this place!

We booked the villa with three friends and had a marvellous time. Everything worked very well at the villa , the view was breathtaking by day and night. Even the weather was in our favour.
We did many trips to other cities and profited from Ron’s tips on dinner locations.

Tolles Toskana-Erlebnis

Really nice house and wonderful area
The whole area was a pleasant Tuscany surprise and we will come back to investigate more. The house is wonderfully situated with a terrific view of the river, mountains and the city. Rooms are large and kitchen is new and efficient. The beautiful view uphill does come with many stairs, which is definitively charming, but might be a challenge for some senior visitors. Rod is a really nice and very helpful host and we enjoyed our stay tremendously. PS: Try the recommended bathing place in the Lima river and also the activities in the Canyon Park.

Lovely property ideal for group of friends or family
We rented the home for a family holiday and ideal to have 4 rooms each with bathroom. The host was excellent and provided tips on where to eat and explore. Nice pool and BBQ areas. The property has a large indoor terrace with views of the river and valley. This is a quiet little town but with good train link nearby to travel more widely although a car is a bonus for shopping etc. The property does have a lot of steps so not for anyone unstable or elderly. Overall we loved our week and would recommend.

The villa was wonderful and very spacious
We had a great experience at Villa rosalena and our host Rod was simply delightful, kind and helpful always. There are many stairs to get to villa. But worth it when you arrive. I would highly recommend this stay. And thank you Rod for making our girls trip perfect.

Fantastic!
Fantastic break in a beautiful house. The rooms are spacious and light and is such a great place to relax either on the terrace, by the pool or in the garden. Rod our host was so accommodating and friendly. The welcome pack was very generous and full of useful and gorgeous local fayre. Loads of local knowledge and helpful advice too. We would definitely recommended staying and would love to rebook. There are great local restaurants with walking distance, beautiful views and lots to do. The river is great to wander in and Pisa is an hour or so by train. Thank you again Rod!

Kurzurlaub
Vielen Dank.

A beautiful property with loads of character and charm.
This was a super place to stay. With sun deck, plunge pool and beautiful loggia, all overlooking the delightful river, it was difficult to drag ourselves away. But the charming villages and the proximity to Lucca and Pisa made day trips well worth it.
There is a great BBQ area if you weren't in the mood for eating out, but also many quality restaurants and trattorias.
Our hosts made our trip even better providing useful local knowledge and information. Rod was on hand for any questions or emergencies(we broke a shelf!) but we never felt that he was intruding.
We cannot recommend this villa highly enough.

Lovely views, overlooking beautiful villas, interesting buildings and the river Valley.
Rod met us as we arrived late and made sure we got installed safely and easily. The wine and food set out for our welcome was really appreciated and a nice touch.
Villa Rosalena is spacious and clean and has many interesting features. All the mod cons, and every bedroom an ensuite. It was very cosy and we'll miss waking to the beautiful vistas. Really good spot to explore this part of Tuscany. Make sure you take time to walk in both directions from the villa because there's lots of places nearby worth a look.

Everything it said it was!
Have to say, it was everything it said it was. Communication with the owner very good prior to our arrival, meet us when we arrived, offered suggestions on where to go etc, do ask him as having lived there for 10 years he should know! Clean and tidy when we arrived, had the whole run of the property, all 4 beds made up for a party of 4, we could have had a room each! The view is to die for. In the older part of Bagni and a car is needed to get to the supermarket is it is in the newer part and that is a good walk. Local bar and restaurants just up the road. Whilst there we visited Lucca, Florence (by train from Lucca, 15 Euros return, although you could drive to Prato) and Pisa. So much to see in Florence you need more than a day. In fact you need more than a week for the same reason. I'd happily recommend it. Also offers B&B.

Beautiful Villa Rosalena.
Villa Rosalena was everything we hoped for and even more. We found the ad to be absolutely accurate and truthful. The rooms, the garden and the atmosphere was perfect. Rod and Caroline was very kind and helpful. Bagni de Lucca is a beautiful village and Villa Rosalena was a lovely place to stay. We can definitely recommend a visit to this Villa, and we wish to one day return for another stay.

Brilliant, helpful owner and lovely, clean villa
Listing description is spot on. This villa and everything in it is spotless with plenty of room to spare for us 9 ladies. Beautiful views, quiet and relaxing area with bars/restaurants with very good food with 5 minutes walk. Rod, the owner is so welcoming and helpful. Couldn't have asked for more, nothing too much trouble. Definitely would recommend this property.

The best place to be.........
Our extended family stayed here in June and we had the whole place to ourselves. Very large house well fittted out including a dishwasher 2 fridges and a great Barbeque. We took the owner Rod's advice and did the local walk over the top of the hill behind the property. It was such a lovely route and showed lots of places that we had not guessed were there. All the local restaurants were very special and not expensive. We went to Lucca and Florence but always couldn't wait to get back to the arched loggia to watch the lights come on in the town and to gaze at the river. We will definitely be back.

beautiful villa in gorgeous location
We would highly recommend this villa - we had a fantastic holiday and the local scenery is spectacular. The English-speaking owners, who live onsite, could not have been more helpful and accommodating.
The only negative is that it is unsuitable for anyone with mobility problems - there are a lot of steps up to the property and also within the building itself, but there is an advisory on this in the property listing.

Stunning
Stayed here with friends and hired the villa for a week. It's a stunning location and burnt a few calories climbing the steps to the villa but worth it for the stunning views from the loggia. The rooms are huge and spacious and bathrooms are lovely. Was a great place to stay and only a short walk from the town. We were here for a friends wedding and so glad we hired ths villa as gave us flexibility and comfort. The owners communicated excellently and gave a lovely welcome pack. Would not hesitate to return and recommend to others. Thank you so much.

Heaven in Northern Tuscany
How do you start when reviewing Villa Rosalena? Do you extol the virtues of the accomodation or do you start with the great welcome from hosts Rod and Caroline.
We hired the top floor of the Villa Rosalena equating to 4 bedrooms in August 2011. A recently built kitchenette means that the self catering experience can be enjoyed with all mod cons provided!
In short, everything that the traveller can think of is on site, from a comfy loggia with soft seating and outside table (we never used the inside dining room ourselves) to a lounge area with SKY television (you can get English language for those of us less up to speed with the Italian language very easily), Wii, DVD's books etc.
The small decking area was fine for us to lie out in the baking heat (although the area is hilly, the sun hits the terrace from 9.30 to 5.30 at the moment and reached an abnormally high 42C in our first week) and a small plunge pool was welcoming if it got too hot (for those wanting an olympic size experience try Bagni's large public pool...we did'nt,,,but instead enjoyed a simple dip if we needed cooling down). Free Wifi was a big plus as we could check on trainItalias web site whilst lying in the sunshine and plan our next trip into Lucca or beyond.
All the rooms were spacious with plenty of cupboard space and all were en-suite. The view from Chocolato (our room) was perfect with whisps of smoke drifting across the valley and town in the early morning, which we saw through green shuttered windows.
We utilised the barbecue area twice and enjoyed the experience but, as many people had mentioned Caroline's cooking in previous reviews we had to sample an evening meal......In short the wow factor was achieved with ease! Tell her what you like and you'll experience a first class taste of Tuscany as well as friendly banter from Rod as he plays "mine host" making a "special" meal a truly family affair.
Rod and Caroline quite simply are the perfect hosts and do their utmost to look after you in this little piece of Tuscan heaven. Although the steps up to the villa are, in truth, not for the faint hearted, Rod was always there to help with cases and the views from the loggia make up for the walk from the road below where we parked our car (a car would be a good suggestion if you want to get up into the more hilly villages or simply explore higher altitudes). Ask for advice and it's there, ask for a place to relax and enjoy Northern Tuscany..go no further!

Happy stay in Villa Rosalena
First want to announce that the owners are very nice & kind people.
When we arrived at the vila in the late evening, the owner had all the patience to wait for us, and to show us the villa and everything around. We already knew we choosed the perfect place to stay when we saw the great property inside, the nice villa decor/ interior and the beauty outside the place. The villa was very clean and the most of all the rooms, included the bedrooms were very nice and lovely. Amazing place to stay for a holiday, especially for groups or families with children or couples with children. Location was perfect to make daytrips with own or public transport to Lucca, Pisa and Florence. The view was also amazing outside in Bagni Di Lucca, also the mountains. The facilities were also perfect. It was our first time here, but we enjoyed this vacation so much, that we decide to come back here very soon. We are very thankfull to the kind owner who takes very care of us and everything. The custumor service was great! We will recommend this property to all my friends and family or relatives. Our children enjoyed the delicious pizza from the neighbour pizzarestaurant and the swimmingpool outside the villa. This villa is for my information not very suitable for disabled travellers or people with a difficulty walking because of the long stairs up and down to the villa direction. We had a great time and a nice stay in Villa Rosalena. Thank you for your kindness and helpfulness.

exceeds expectations
Yes-- Villa Rosalena and its surroundings truly are as stunning as the photos show them to be. The rooms are beautiful, and well-kept. But the house is not only beautiful, but also fun! My friends and I (seven students) found it well-stocked with all sorts of lovely things (a dvd collection for all ages, books, wireless internet, boardgames, and even a wii), never leaving us at a loss for things to do.
During our week-long stay, we made day trips to Pisa, Florence, and Lucca. Very useful in these were the many guidebooks present in the house.
We did all our moving about by foot and by train. This was doable, but not ideal. The walk to the train station is about 40 minutes, and not very visually stimulating (or safe, as it is a car road). Also, the train service in summer isn't very regular (but on time, in our experience). Check the train schedule in advance, for planning purposes. A bike or a car would have been useful for getting around.
The owners of the Villa Rosalena were great from the start. We were picked up from the train station upon arrival, and given a tour of the house. We were delighted to find a substantial welcome package of local goodies, and some kitchen essentials (olive oil, salt, pepper, vinegar, oregano) present. On one occasion we ran into our hosts in the local supermarket, and they kindly offered to transport our heavy groceries back to the house (we were on foot). We would describe their general attitude as laid-back but helpful.
Hence, we would all recommend Villa Rosalena to friends or relatives. It's many fun facilities were such a happy surprise, and the natural beauty of the environment unmatched.
