About this house rental
Escape away from normal life to farm country where you have your own peaceful space and stay in newly renovated rustic barndominiums on an active 40 acre farm of Mediterranean Miniature Donkeys! Designed with large family gatherings in mind, you will have two of your own barn buildings with 7 bedrooms, 14 beds, and 6 bathrooms. You will also have your own 900 sq ft dining room in The Stable, known as Donkey Diner, to congregate with family and friends, where your group can cook their meals and enjoy camaraderie.
This location includes over 6,000 sq ft in two buildings so your family will have plenty of room to spread out. The first building, Rustic Roost, consists of 4 large king bedrooms, 3 baths, a family room with 2 sets of bunk beds and a pull out sofa. In the open concept kitchen and living room area, you will enjoy the garage door opening up to an outdoor bar overlooking the orchard with a large sectional sofa and big screen smart TV.
Building two, The Stable, is a 3 bedroom, 3 full bath barndominium with two king beds, a queen bed, full and a set of bunk beds. Also a sectional sofa in the Donkey Diner with smart tv.
In between the barndominiums you will have a large blacktop area for outdoor activities and a basketball goal and also offers an activity area where kids can play. Staying at Donkeytown also gives you a beautiful 40 acres to explore with hiking, picnics, and fishing in our two fully stocked ponds. Bring your fishing poles or just enjoy sitting on the pier while drinking a cup of coffee or watching the sunset.
We are proud to be a breeder of Mediterranean Miniature Donkeys touted as the "most lovable animals on the planet." You can have as much or as little interaction with them as you desire. Feel free to hang out in barns and pastures with them and each day we close the gates and let a few free range on the farm. They'll be glad to hang out with you, are very social and want lots of hugs and kisses. You'll be able to say you "kissed ass at Donkeytown" when you leave. In addition, we have four free range goats, Willie, Waylon, Johnny, and June, plus two lambs, Pancho and Lefty, that will greet you daily!
Come welcome a stress-free farmcation where you'll experience therapeutic donkeys and lots of love.
We can now accommodate conferences for up to 40 people with meeting space when you add the Farmhouse, a 7 bedroom and 4.5 bath in the original 1884 farmhouse (see listing #2710662).

Our weekend was wonderful. There were 20 of us (ages 10 - 92!) Tonya and Amy were so attentive and helpful. Donkeys , sheep, goats and chickens were fun. We had everything we needed plus. You don’t want to miss this place…it is absolutely terrific!

We stayed here with our kids and grandkids (18 of us) for our family Christmas. The experience was amazing, everyone from 4-64 enjoyed the property and all the things there were to do.
The indoor spaces were beautifully decorated and spacious , the kitchens offered everything we needed for our large group meals.
The donkeys were definitely everyone’s favorite experience! Our grandkids spent most of their time interacting with the donkeys, goats, sheep, ponies and chickens. Even though the weather was a little cold and rainy at times, they were outside with the animals most of the time. As were the adults. The donkeys ever rated higher than opening Christmas presents!
Everyone was asking the day we left , when can we go back!
We will definitely be back!

Donkeytown was the perfect spot for our family fall trip. We had a group of 18 and there was plenty of room for all of us. The donkeys, goats, chickens provided great entertainment! We found everything we needed in the kitchens and we happily surprised at all the toys for the kids. Tonya and Amy were great at communicating and so nice and accomodating! Already talking about coming back!

Donkeytown was awesome! The rentals had everything you would need. Tonya and her staff were very accommodating. My 4 year old grandsons loved riding the donkeys Angus and JD. Everyone enjoyed petting and feeding the donkeys! As well as seeing the goats, sheep, dogs and cats. Lots of room for everyone.
Great place to get away from it all!

It was a winner... so many more things to do and use than listed... if your children are 10 and under this is the place to be.

We had a wonderful week! There were 19 in our family with 11 adults and 8 grandkids. Tonya was so nice - one day she saddled up a couple of the Mediterranean miniature donkeys for our grandkids to ride and they loved it. We enjoyed the Kubota all week, and the guys enjoyed fishing in the ponds. Plenty of room for everyone - we were very comfortable. Highly recommend Donkeytown!

Our family of 20 thoroughly enjoyed our 4 days at Donkey Town. Tonya was extremely helpful and responsive. She arraigned for the kids to collect eggs, tour the barn, and ride donkeys. The two fishing ponds are stocked; however, be prepared to catch a lot of small brim and catfish (we did catch three nice large mouth bass).
The property consists of two barn dominions. One is more of a house and the other is literally a barn with hay and three bedrooms. The barn also has a large tea room that can seat 30+ people and has a kitchen.
The furnishings were adequate; kitchens were well supplied with pots and pans; there were two cribs for babies; and bikes, toys, and fishing poles. The wiring in the barn was a little iffy in some of the rooms with exposed wires and switches that did not appear to work (the bathroom light has to be on for the kitchen light to work). Overall a great and relaxing place for a large family reunion.

This was a WONDERFUL stay for my extended family. There was a comfy place to sleep for everyone and plenty to do. Tonya and Amy went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed.
Pros (too many to list):
*super comfortable beds and soft bedding
*luxurious towels
*fully stocked kitchens (even all the spices we needed
*ALLL the recreation. The kids (and adults too) loved riding around on the side-by-side, finding geodes, fishing, boating, riding bikes, collecting eggs, petting donkeys, and they even set up a waterside for the Littles.
*The cleaning responsibilities were easy and not over the top. Dumpster is conveniently located.
*Any need that arose, someone was quick to show up with a solution, often going above and beyond.
Cons (few):
*Water pressure in the showers wasn't great. Maybe more of a shower head issue. Cold water could be difficult to turn on.
*The AC went out in one of the buildings while we were there, but they brought over a bunch of fans and the weather was mild enough that it wasn't a big deal.
*No guest laundry facility.
*A bit of a drive from attractions, but there's enough to do on site that it really doesn't matter. We recommend the cave boat tour in Bedford.

A few items you might want to consider
Communications with the owner were a bit delayed. For example the e-mail to access the place etc was sent the late morning of the day were to arrive. We were a group coming from different places, leaving home at different times to arrive and so a couple people in our group did not get the information before arriving and so had difficulty at the gate getting in.
The air conditioner in the main meeting room in the first building did not work well, we could not get it below 76 and most of the time it was 80.
Having said this there some things we really liked.
1. Free firewood
2. Use of the 4 wheeler
3. Use of the paddle boat and Kayaks
4. Hunting for the Geodes.
5. And of course the donkeys and the owners lessons on them.

We stumbled across this property by luck. Once we got there the experience we had was amazing. Tonya meet with us walked us around the property, let us meet the donkeys and how to handle them. After the tour she left everything else to us. We had access to a golf cart and side by side we hungout with donkeys and everyone found plenty to do from games, playing outside, bikes, basketball, and an outside firepit with plenty of wood. This place is such a relaxing place plenty of room for 25 people, and the nice thing was there were 3 separate bunk houses with a commonplace area for everyone to get together. This place is heaven and was such a needed weekend away. We look forward to the next weekend get away to donkeytown. We loved everything about this place!

Seventeen of us, one set of grandparents and three of our children with spouses and 9 grandkids 11 and under, had a ball playing with the donkeys and goats, playing board games, having snowball fights, grilling and making s’mores, cooking meals, finding geodes(!!!), and playing air hockey. Perfect place to “meet in the middle “ and enjoy time together. Tonia has made this a place where your job to make memories is really easy!

We've stayed a lot of places but this place takes grand prize for our family. It was a Christmas gift for our family and everyone agrees it was awesome! Everything was as described (and better). So much space, and everything you need. If you are hesitant to book in winter I encourage you to go ahead and do it! We brought our winter gear and enjoyed all of the outdoors! We even fished! As much as I would like to keep this gem a secret for us, it is something to share with everyone!! The donkeys are an hoot! So sweet and lovable! Owners are great and there for everything you need. Not intrusive but a txt away. And don't forget to get the DonkeyTown mugs, glasses, ,T-shirts and hats! Nice stuff! And no, this is not paid advertising 😀 Looking forward to staying again!

The sleeping arrangements were perfect and everything was decorated so cute. Kitchens were fully stocked with everything we needed. Thank you

We had a very good time here! The donkeys were very cute and the whole family went geode hunting and found some good ones. The beds were very comfortable in the rustic roost and everything was set up really well for all our younger kids. They had bicycles that all of them could ride and a playroom with lots of toys. The kitchens were well appointed and the tea room was where we gathered to eat all our meals and play family games.
I wish that the bedrooms in the rustic roost had solid doors instead of barn doors because they didn’t provide much privacy, but otherwise the bedrooms were very cozy!
We did have one hiccup where the hot water stopped working in the tearoom/bunkhouse for the last 2 days of our stay, but she tried really hard to get it fixed, but it just wasn’t cooperating, it was just one of those unavoidable things!
I highly recommend this property for family get togethers!

We enjoyed the fire pit any time of day or night. A few of us were compelled to feed the sweet furry donkeys. Evening meals were great as we all gathered in the big dining hall. Some hiked in Hoosier National Forest, some shopped in Nashville and we all gathered geodes from the hill. Tanya is a wonderful hostess.

Great place to sit back and relax and take in the beauty of the countryside while enjoying the company of adorable miniature donkeys. The kids LOVED them and also the hiking, fishing and bonfires! Great for large groups too!

Our girls group has had over 15 annual girls weekends….this was one of the best! Donkeys are sooo sweet and our host Tonya was one of the best ever! The farmcation was everything we hoped! Facilities are exceptionally well-appointed. 5 stars!

We had a great time at the farm. Tonya was extremely nice and attentive to all our questions. The donkeys do roam the property, but they leave you alone! The Rustic Room had all the amenities we needed and lots of space. Great place for large groups.

Great setting for our family reunion. Plenty of beds and room to roam around, play outdoor games, and let the kids just have fun. Everyone loved the donkeys too.

We had 4 generations. 24 people total. Had a photographer come take family some pictures! So beautiful. The donkeys are so cute. So much to do. Fishing. Trails, golf cart, bikes, basketball, corn hole volleyball. We brought football, sack races, tug of War with us. Everyone had a blast. Went to lake monroe for a day & rented a boat & jet ski. Dining room is perfect for everyone to gather for meals. Kitchens are great! Great fire pit. The stars are amazing at night!

The property was very clean and beds were comfortable. The children (and adults!) loved the donkeys. So many things to do…. The fishing was great, the kids loved finding geodes, the hiking was nice. We had a group of 25 and no one was ever bored. There were bikes and big wheels for the younger set to ride on the large paved area, a basketball and goal, board games and card games inside. We all sat outside one night by the fire playing cards and making s’mores. The tea room was a nice space to eat dinner together as well as play games.
The only negative was that none of the doors had locks/closed securely so there isn’t total privacy anywhere. This should be an easy fix! We would definitely recommend it for a family getaway in the country!

We came here in a large group (9 adults, 11 children) for my parents' 50th anniversary. It was great! Everyone had a wonderful time. Some in the group went fishing several times, kids played with donkeys, some bigger kids spent a lot of time at the geode field. There is air hockey, plenty of space for people to spread out, and a large eating area. The farm is pretty far from restaurants (20 plus minutes), so we mostly stayed on the property. It was a great time for 3 nights.

If you want to experience real country living this is the place to go! Super fun for the kids and adults; lots of donkey’s, few goats, ponds to fish and kayak, hiking and even bikes and tricycles for the kids to ride. Our ages ranged from 68 to 17 months and we all had a wonderful time! We would love to go back!

This place is a hidden treasure for sure! We had 19 people in our family and everyone had the best time! The owner has it stocked up just perfectly! From wood and lighters for the firepit to every kitchen item you possibly need and bicycles for the kids to ride and fishing poles to use! It was a time we will talk about for years to come! Thanks so much!

Unexpected hit
We chose the farm due to its capacity and its location however the donkeys were an unexpected hit with everyone. We stayed for 3 day and could have stayed a week with all the activities in the area. We were greeted the fist day by donkeys at the back door. Everyone loved to feed the donkeys treats and pet them. The donkeys roamed the grounds freely and were approachable including the two baby donkeys. We had several groups visits the on site ponds and everyone raved about how well the fish were biting.

Great weekend experience!
Experience was great! Loved the donkeys, fishing and the trails. Liked the idea of the family being able to stay together in close buildings and having a larger dining area to congregate. The owner also had bikes available for all ages to use and a basketball goal for a nice game of "Horse" which we dubbed "Donkey" for the weekend! Everyone loved being so up close and able to interact with the donkeys. The kiddos really loved brushing them and giving them treats that the owner provided. One unit wasn't completely finished when we got there and owner wasn't aware the staff hadn't finished the room but she took immediate care of it once she found out. Nice place for family to unwind and relax.

Fabulous family vacation
Tonya was amazing. Loved the barndominiums, they are beautiful. We have so much fun with the donkeys and goats. We had family dinners together in The Tea Room. The kids loved fishing and hiking and playing in the streams looking for geodes with us. We will definitely be back.

DonkeyTown
Had a great weekend with an extended friend group/families/kids. Plenty of space to roam around and explore, hiking, ponds, fishing, kayaking, geodes to find etc. We were only there for a weekend and could have easily doubled our time and still had plenty to do. Tonya was extremely helpful and kind. We had about 15 total including kids and plenty of room to spread out and keep everyone busy and having fun. Would def book again!

Just Perfect
There were about 15 of us who stayed here for my boyfriend’s 30th birthday. We had an absolute blast! The property is gorgeous, the donkeys, goats, and horses are so sweet. It was above and beyond everyone’s expectations. Tonya was such a great host and took such great care of us! We can’t wait to come back in the summer! Thanks Tonya!
