About this house rental
3D House Tour
A beautiful, professionally managed, rustic-modern cabin tucked away on its private 2-acre perch, located in the gated community of Old Timberline, and just under three hours from DC. Surrounded by natural beauty in every direction, this cabin is perfect for two families; with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an open concept living/dining/kitchen, this cabin has it all-- a large deck, hot tub, lake access for canoeing and fishing, community hiking trails, Blackwater River access for fishing, direct access to Dolly Sods Wilderness, and very conveniently located to so many attractions including the newly improved and reopened Timberline Mountain Ski Resort, Canaan Valley Ski Resort and State Park, White Grass Cross Country Skiing, mountain biking trails, Blackwater Falls State Park, Douglas Falls, and so much more. You cannot find a more perfect slice of West Virginia heaven: bounded on the East by the Dolly Sods Wilderness, on the North by the Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge, and on the South and West by the Blackwater River.
With so much to do in the Canaan Valley area, the possibilities and itineraries are endless! Or if you'd rather enjoy nature from the comfort of the cabin while sipping coffee or a local craft brew, you have plenty of options too--outside on the deck with the charcoal grill, hot tub, and spacious seating, or inside with a fully stocked kitchen, cozy gas fireplace, and comfy leather couches. With shiplap wood walls, this cabin has a cozy feel, but with modern finishes and conveniences throughout. At almost 4000’ above sea level, four-wheel drive / AWD is often required during winter months, as the driveway is steep and the powder can be deep. And, unfortunately, no pets, please keep your furry family members at home.
Local businesses: The historic towns of Davis and Thomas are thriving with fantastic locally owned shops and restaurants! From organic markets, to family-owned bbq and italian joints, to high end coffee shops, local craft breweries and distilleries, bakeries, art galleries, live music, mountain bike shop and rentals, outdoor apparel, and so much more! Be sure to walk through each town to see what's going on and/or check out the house manual for recommendations.
Sleeping Arrangements:
bedroom 1: 1 full bed with sitting area and TV
bedroom 2: 2 twin beds with full size futon and TV area
bedroom 3: 1 full bed with TV
bedroom 4: 1 bunk bed and 1 twin bed

Four-wheel drive is required to get to this secluded home during the winter months. You have access to both of the large lakes in Timberline to canoe and fish at and access to the Dolly Sods Wilderness Area.
OLD TIMBERLINE -
A private, gated community located in beautiful Canaan Valley. You have access to both Spruce Island Lake and Sand Run Lake in Timberline to canoe and fish at (swimming prohibited by the HOA) and access to the Dolly Sods Wilderness Area.
The community consists of 2677 acres in the center of Canaan Valley and the uplands of Cabin Mountain. The center of our community is a 500 acre common conservancy containing two large lakes. The conservancy is crisscrossed by a series of walking trails which provide access both to the valley floor, to the Refuge, and directly into Dolly Sods. We are frequented by deer, bear, beaver, wild turkeys, fox, coyotes, bald eagles and many other species of both animals and plants native to this area
You will be staying in a private, gated community. Please have a list of everyone that will be staying in the house (first & last names) and vehicle information. A guard house form will be given to you at check-in for you to put the information on that you will give to the guards.

A terrific getaway for our team Matt was courteous and professional

It’s a great place just needs to be maintained a little better. The hot tub would have been nice after a day on the slopes. There were a couple of things that could be easily fixed:
- the outdoor lights at the parking area were out which made it difficult with the snow and ice to not fall on your way in
- the hot tub had barely any water so only our children could enjoy this amenity
- the house was generally clean but was extremely dusty, all 6 of our family members needed to be on antihistamines by the time we left
- the remote controls were mostly out of batteries and it was hard to figure out which one belonged to the fan, fireplace, etc.
- the grill is charcoal and this was a hard no in the cold and covered with a foot of snow, perhaps a propane grill replacement
- the steps and deck were covered in at least 3 inches of ice, we’re pretty able bodied but a clumsy guest is going to get wrecked

Nice property and beautiful location. When I went up to get the keys a little early for check in and they weren't in the key box yet. I went to go to my car and a representative stopped me and gave me my check in packet. Very friendly and customer focused.

The best blankets, pillows and towels!

The house was spacious and clean. We enjoyed the hot tub. Was a fun weekend of catching up. Plenty of catching up, food and laughing. Renting from you was easy.

the kitchen is super stock with everything we may need!!

The property itself was lovely and somewhere we would consider again. We just wished there was someone to provide us with information when there was a problem during our stay. Before the trip, the communication was clear and informational. Communication when there was an issue and after the weekend was lacking.

The property was beautiful decorated and well stocked with appliances and linens and towels. It is the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of city living. It felt like my home away from home and I am already thinking I need to return again!

The property was great. The woods location and the hot tub. Communications were smooth and the transaction was seamless

We absolutely loved the cabin we stayed in. The hot tub was a great asset, and we were able to just spend a weekend away with our loved ones. The staff was great! Very professional and they let us check in an hour earlier than we expected!

We all had a fabulous time, it was perfect. The deer running through the back yard and bedding down was such a bonus. The hot tub was great, even in the snow. It slept 10 very comfortably.

Well maintained, clean and well stocked home that comfortably slept two families. We had plenty of linens and the kitchen had everything we needed. The property mgmt company plowed the steep driveway during our stay too. The hot tub was great. Property is wonderfully located with easy access to the backside of Dolly Sods for hiking or a quick drive down the road to Timberline. I would highly recommend this property. Easy peasy

We loved staying at the Harvest Moon cabin! There was so much included in the cabin from cooking supplies, a washer and dryer, coffee makers, a hot tub and a fire place! The scenery was beautiful and it was such a great time getting outdoors and being with friends. Thank you so much for having us! Booking the Air B and B was quick and easy. Everything was clean and ready to go when we arrived and we had no issues during our stay!

We loved the hot tub and the big open space of the kitchen, dining and living area
great time at a great location! simple!

We really enjoyed our short stay at the property. The house was equipped with everything we needed, and it was very cozy and not too oversized. We don't ski, but we love the outdoors along with the beautiful surroundings
We would definitely consider it again, maybe for an entire week next time. Great! Everyone was very nice and the check in and out was made easy.
4.8
The place we chose was great. Day before check in I received confirmation and information that the house was not a dog friendly home. The home was advertised as a pet friendly home on VRBO. This caused a lot of confusion and a lot of frustration. I will not use vrbo for future vacations.

The staff was very welcoming. Our packet was given to someone else by accident, but the situation was taken care of quickly, We arrived at the house with no problems. The driveway is a little steep and tricky not very spacious for more than 2 trucks. The house was beautiful. Well stocked with the necessities of kitchen appliances, cookware and tableware. The bathrooms were spacious with plenty of towels. Nice bedrooms and comfy beds. 6 sisters and 2 nieces had an enjoyable weekend eating and playing many games and alot of laughing. Also the hot tub was enjoyed. Thank you for sharing your home with us. The Swick Sisters from Fombell, Pa

Quaint cabin and great location to all the parks - Blackwater Falls, Seneca Rocks, Douglas Falls. The inside of the cabin was cozy and clean. Outside needed a good sweep but their was a broom left outside so we swept.

We had a great few days! We came for the beginning of our kiddos’ spring break and ended up with more snow than we had all winter! They were happy either way! The cabin was so welcoming, the kitchen was wonderfully stocked, and the hot tub was so nice! We visited a few state parks in the area and enjoyed some fun hikes. We would love to visit again!

Overall a nice stay. Pre-arrival communication was good. Checking in at the rental office worked fine. The rental agreement had been completed online and submitted prior to arrival, but for some reason, I had to complete it again there in the office. We were in two separate groups arriving at slightly different times. Our second group had a difficult time with the guard at Timberline gate . . . he was asking for information they didn't have and didn't know they would need to have upon checking in.

The house was very nice, clean and well-equipped. The bedroom/bed arrangement worked out well for our group of grandmother, two sets of parents and three young boys. The hot tub was a welcome place to relax after a days spent hiking and snow tubing. It took us a bit to find the balance of temperature with the electric baseboard heat but we got it sorted out. The gas fireplace did not work for us which was a disappointment. Overall, a very nice stay.

Very nice property. Excellent

The group enjoyed the hot tub. I enjoyed nature and the distance between the cabins. I loved the outdoor seating on the deck.
The team was very helpful and careful to explain the area. We were aware of the many opportunities available. If we return for a longer stay we will certainly take advantage of the ones we want to see and do.

It was a nice property, v clean, great well equipped kitchen. It was obviously furnished for the comfort of the owners - who must be very tall people. The double beds were more than waist high -- a significant challenge for shorter older people, so we opted for single beds (first time ever voluntarily!).
But of our many rentals, this was the best for WiFi - clear simple instructions. We were grateful. Always great. Thanks.

My group hikes different places around Maryland West Virginia and Pennsylvania. This was by far the best place we stayed. It was so cozy and tucked away in beautiful mountains. The views were amazing. We can’t wait to come back.
We loved the back porch. We spent most of our time sitting out there and catching up. It was so peaceful. I made sure to be up early enough to get to enjoy a cup of coffee on the porch before everyone else got up and I usually like to sleep in on trips but I couldn’t wait to just enjoy the quiet and peacefulness of the woods. Matt was the person I spoke with and we rented from. He was very helpful. Answered me back quickly and was knowledgeable about the area and the property. He also sent us a message telling us some where to dine. He was friendly.
