Secluded and private but close to the Blue Ridge Parkway exit at Little Switzerland only 3 miles away! We now have wireless internet and left a monitor and printer on site for your use if you need to work while on vacation. We have both been on zoom meetings and had no issues with the wifi but do encourage you to try to unplug while you are there! So much to enjoy and now wifi too! Bikers welcome. Enjoy the large covered area to park your bikes while you enjoy an escape only minutes from the Little Switzerland Diamond Back exit! 9 miles to major shopping, 3 miles to closest restaurants and shops, 25 minutes to Burnsville and 15 minutes to Grassy Creek. If you are looking for a fun day trip you are only an hour from Ashville or Boone and less than that to Sugar Mountain! This centrally located hidden treasure will impress you! We now have wireless internet too! Also, in the Spring of 2022 we updated any older furniture including a brand new leather couch, new picnic tables, outdoor seating, etc.. Additionally, we have all new bedding, linens and towels, replaced any worn appliances and hired a new cleaning company that is close by and has excellent reviews. We have also lowered our nightly rate to encourage smaller groups and families and then added a fee per person above 6. The cabin comfortably sleeps 10-12 but we wanted to make it available for smaller groups as well. Please understand there is now an additional charge for more than 6 people. The reason for this has to do with the amount of cleaning, linens, utilities, internet usage and general wear and tear. Please know, we take every review to heart and appreciate any feedback provided. We will always do everything we can to make your stay 5 stars! Please give us a try. You will not be disappointed. Roads are gravel for the last 1/2 mile only and not very steep at all. We had them graded as soon as we heard there was so bigger bumps from all the rain over the Summer. New picts uploaded show the roads as of Sept 2023. We will continue to upgrade and update and always want happy guests. Come stay for a while and enjoy our mountain getaway.

We stayed at this property for a little over a week for 4th of July. The cabin had a nice rustic comfortable feel to it. We like to cook, so we had a lot of meals at the cabin. The kitchen is very well stocked and the gas grill worked great. I loved the swing on the covered patio, especially in the evening when it cooled down. That being said, it never got much above 80 during the day on the property. Dawn was extremely attentive and helpful! I would definitely recommend this property!

We really enjoyed our stay at this mountain home! The home has useable land around it which meant we were able to throw the football and run around some. My kids enjoyed running up and down the small hill in the backyard. The best part about the yard is the firefly show that happens at night. Impressive! The inside of the home is comfortable and clean. The huge windows in the family room were perfect for watching a thunder storm move through the area. We would definitely visit again.

Communication prior to our stay was great. Check-in communication and check-in itself was smooth and easy. The long shared driveway was being regraded while we were there so it was smooth. The cabin was beautiful and we loved the porch swings and fire pit! We were welcomed with a welcome book and a basket full of sweet, salty and tasty snacks. The kids loved the steep hill and running down it and running back up to see who was the fastest 😊. The cabin was clean and sparkling. The AC unit worked great downstairs and the two window units upstairs did great for upstairs. The kitchen was properly stocked. We loved the cast iron skillet. The thoughtfulness of items around the cabin were wonderful! David and Dawn were wonderful hosts. Great communication but not too much communication. The furshinings were great in my opinion. I needed throw pillows for some seats but they were provided. I'm also shorter so other family members didn't need the pillows. The outdoor seating and furniture were fabulous! So many choices to enjoy the wooded view. Or to watch the kids run around. I enjoyed my morning coffee out there and the kids enjoyed bubbles that the hosts provided ❤️ The water pressure was good in the showers. The cabin was clean, comfortable and cozy!
I can't say enough about how great our stay was! We hope to come back again.

We were delighted with David and Dawn's wonderful cabin. It was everything we hoped for and more! Excellent communication, quick response time and well defined info in their cabin book. It was perfect for our family. The children so enjoyed painting fire pit stones, playing the games and having wonderful spots to hide when we as a family (gma too!) Played hide and seek in the dark. We will be back, again and again!

Exactly what we needed for a quiet family getaway!
Bathrooms were tiny and a challenge for my wheelchair bound husband. BUT property was not advertised as accessible.
4.7
My family and I were pleased with the home and experience. It is a bit further away from civilization than we expected but that was only a minor inconvenience. The hosts were responsive and welcoming.
4.7
The cabin is absolutely beautiful.
The owners were so helpful and so kind throughout booking, leading up to the trip, and during.
Highly recommend!

We had a great time at this mountain getaway. Everything we needed was there other than more time away from work:)

We fell in love with the cabin. It is very cozy place. We can’t wait to come back again.

Our group enjoyed our stay. The cabin has a lot of space for kids to play outside and a great fire pit.

Beautiful cabin in a beautiful, peaceful place. Enjoyed painting rocks with my adult children. I would encourage the owners to buy a toaster and dish cloths, as well as bath cloths. Otherwise I would highly recommend the place.

What we enjoyed the most:
-Very Cabin'ie feel!! Like it's all wood; like everything!!! Main living area has a gas powered fireplace. Another area with dining table and 4 bunk beds had another gas powered fireplace.
-It got exceptionally cold in the mauntains on the eve of Christmas eve (zero fehrenheit and it felt like negative 18 fehrenheit) and it was still hot indoors.
-host was just wonderful the whole time with all communication interactions. You can just tell she has a loving heart.
-lots of sleeping quarters: 2 bedrooms that each sleep 2 with doors that lock and private bathroom, 4 bunk beds downstairs and 2 additional beds upstairs. And 3 bathrooms. Thats excellent space for sleeping.
- After a temp drop, the cabin did lose water due to the freeze/temp drop, we reported at 10 pm. At 8 am next day, she had a crew working on it. They were able to re-establish cold water back to one of the bathrooms. The pipes were frozen so it would take time to thaw. They ended up refunding us a night. I am reporting this as a positive since it is not their fault and they handled it as timely as they could.
-good Wifi.
-had a dvd player so we were able to play our favorite Christmas movies while experiencing a white Christmas!
-has so many supplies: peanut oil, salt/condiments, laundry detergent. We had all our supplies but it was kinda cool they have all that in case you don't.
- super pretty donkey and 2 horses that belong to neighbor that you can watch up and close.
Things that are worth noting:
-heating is mainly 2. fireplaces that is powered via propane. So heating is NOT uniform. upstairs will be hotter than downstairs. so i advice you to bring clothing in layers. I didnt bring shorts and i kinda regret it.
-It takes 17 min of driving in the moutains to get off the mountain.

Happy with most things about this stay except for 2 things. When we arrived we were very excited but exhausted from travel. What really bothered me was I had to make all the beds and the sheets did not match the beds. So had to run around the house trying to match sheets to beds. Also fireplace did not work despite following directions step by step and that was very important to us. Otherwise everything else was lovely
4.7
The cabin is secluded but within 15 to 20 minutes to shopping and restaurants. The owners made every effort to make our stay pleasant and comfortable. We had a nice time.
4.7
Great property to get away from it all!
4.7
The home and surrounding property were beautiful. The home was roomy and we all had plenty of space to play and spread out. Getting up to the home was a bit difficult because all the weather that came through this summer washed out part of the driveway.

Will definitely book again. Very quiet and relaxing. It was very clean. Very welcoming! Drive wasn't bad for front wheel drive vehicle. Loved the farm down below. Very nice people. Looking forward to the expansion in the future!

It was good! Wi-Fi didn’t work in the evenings and a few things were running low but all in all great!

Flatlanders in the Mountains
Yes, it more like a long visit with kids and grands with some vacation thrown in the mix. Everyone had a very relaxing experience, the love and happiness was thick and sweet like cane syurp and y'all's place added to the mix. Our group came Indianapolis, Franklin, TN and Oberlin, Louisiana.

Excellent experience renting! It is off the beaten path with no WiFi, but we did not need it! We used the space as home base to ski local mountains and hike/explore Asheville. We had packed up ALL our food prior, but there is a grocery store around 20 mins away! It was a fun get away!

Great Christmas getaway in the mountains. Also, brought an artificial tree that we set up by the Fireplace which made for a beautiful scene. Dawn and Dave were very responsive. Prior to visiting, Dave informed me of the fire ban which was thankfully lifted while there so we could enjoy the amazing firepit under the stars. Concerned from other reviews about how well the kitchen was stocked, Dave stated ok to just by what we needed and he would venmo me if we had to buy anything. Well, the kitchen was very well stocked. We didn't have any need to get anything!! The kitchen was great and beautiful wood edge island. Home does not have dishwasher, but everyone chipped in.
The upstairs is charming!
First floor MBR is a little cramped with king size bed. Bathrooms worked well and couldn't believe that the water was so hot with 6 adults having to shower!!
I am a very picky, clean person but this cabin was just fine. It is a mountain, secluded cabin and has alot of quirky charm. Some of the ceilings are just plywood and in the Master shower, just some boards nailed but it works and didn't bother me. These comments are not negatives but only things I may recommend is to clean the below kitchen cabinets and the baseboards more often; supply pillows with pillow cases for beds as not sure if was supposed to take shams off pillows or just sleep on pillows with the shams on.
As others have mentioned, would suggest new LR furniture. I know dogs are allowed but furniture is very worn and cushions on couch often falling off couch/felt very worn.
Again, just suggestions, as would rent this home again if LR furniture changed!
Charming, well maintained decks with great seating overlooking the beautiful scenery. I only could imagine how beautiful would be in spring/summer and fall.
We did two great hikes nearby:
Crabtree Falls Trail is a must. Make the loop all the way, starting to the right. It is worth it!. You will have an incline for approx 10 minutes, not bad. Husband with bad knees and 9 yr old granddaughter did great. If wet, could be slick.
2. Grassy Creek Falls also very beautiful. All uphill on way back, good workout!
Home is approx 1 hour from Asheville but don't plan on seeing the Biltmore unless want to pay which we weren't willing to. We much more enjoyed going about an hour along the beautiful blue ridge parkway to Sugar mountain (Alpine slide was GREAT- make reservations) and town of Blowing Rock!
Great trip and time!!

This lovely cabin is out in the boonies with hiking trails and a great yard for kids to run around. Kitchen is well stocked and we enjoyed playing games and looking at stars that were so bright at night. It was the perfect getaway to get unplugged and go hiking to many nearby waterfalls.

Nice stay
Overall this was a nice stay. The owners had nice touches for extras for their guests. The location was close to Blue ridge parkway which was why we selected it. The cabin was clean.
The negatives for us were the gravel drive, lack of dishwasher, lack of internet, and the property was not that pretty (in a valley). All of these are mentioned in the VRbo description but it did make a difference in the vacation quality for us.
The owner needs to update the linens (I could not find a king flat sheet to match the (ripped) king fitted sheet). The silverware is way too inadequate to serve to a family or stretch through more than one meal so you are always doing dishes. The cell phone (TMobile) reception was iffy.

I am so torn about this review. I wanted to love this property & overall we managed to have a good time but there were quite a few quirks for us. This property has so much potential & I am hopeful Dawn & Dave continue to make it shine.
There were no reviews of this property when I originally booked so I was flying blind. My communication with Dawn prior went well and I felt ok to book.
We arrived after an 8 hour drive and had an immediate issue with the upstairs bathroom. I called Dawn immediately. My husband had to spend the first 1/2 hour of our arrival putting in a temporary fix so the bath could be used. A few days later the neighbor came over to do another temp fix and was there for a few hours. Dawn mentioned giving us a discount or a refund of some sort but as of today we havent seen that. She was very apologetic & I dont hold her responsible of course.
The property is not quite as shown. The picnic table shown on the deck is not there & the property is more overgrown then the pictures show. Both the hill in front and the hill on the side have been left to grow, leaving less mowed area. Not a deal breaker. Just not as shown.
When we arrived we also had to make all the beds. This was not something I was aware of. The comforters were in place, but none of the beds had sheets on them. We also had no idea if the comforters had been washed. So we washed them all.
My sister and I spent a few hours on Saturday morning vaccuming, sweeping, dusting & mopping because there was so much dust and sand about. I dont know if the cleaning person was having a bad day or what. We couldnt find the coffee pot at first, then later found it on top of a cabinet. It was also dusty and dirty, so we had to clean that before using. Grill & fire pit need cleanned as well & we decided not to use either.
The furniture is all comfy, but very tired looking. There are ink marks on the arms of the chair and every time we got off the couch the cusions fell off & you could see the stains on the couch. We also went out and bought our own pillows for the king bed because they were horribly flat. We also had an issue with the TV.
Overall, the entire property just feels tired & not what I expected at this price point. As a newer property to VRBO I expected newer furnishings, pots, pans, etc. I felt like I spent a lot of my vacation cleaning, doing laundry, or buying things to use at the property.
Please Note-We have Verizon and had little to no cell service.

This cabin is super cute, comfy and peaceful. It's a little hard to navigate to in the dark so I'd recommend planning you arrival with the advantage of daylight!! Dawn and David were both super helpful and easy to communicate with when we had questions about anything.

Overall excellent experience from the rental process through the check-in and check-out.
The cabin was clean, property well maintained. The property manager Dawn was very helpful providing information for activities in addition to her responsiveness to any inquiries we had.
The location of the property was great, close to the Blueridge Parkway, scenic views, mountin trails, Water falls, family activities and local shopping and dinning, while also providing a secluded location for relaxing with family and friends and pets.
Highly recommended, would absolutely use the property again.

First, I will start off saying that the owners were super responsive and easy to work with. I have a few special needs, and they were extremely patient with me, so I appreciate that.
This place is a wonderful get away from all the hustle and bustle, and so convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Most of all I appreciated that it was dog friendly! There was lots of land for us to play Frisbee, and a doggie proof deck was a blessing.
It has plenty of room for a family, and I would go there again in a heartbeat. :)
