About this house rental
Family vacation house in Robbinsville, North Carolina, located in the foothills of North Carolina’s magnificent Great Smokey Mountains, with beautiful sceneries, friendly atmosphere and where outdoor adventure abound.
Extraordinary views come with this peaceful and wonderful house where beauty surrounds you and and can be enjoyed any season of the year. Come relax and unwind either while enjoying the spectacular mountain views in the hot tub, from the outdoor fire-pit dining table, or simply cuddling up in front of the fireplaces.
The ground level (first) floor boasts a recreation/family room space with a foosball table, fireplace, one bedroom and a large full bathroom. Large screen TV and DVD player, along with a large selection of DVD movies, a foosball table, and multiple family games for all ages are available for guest use. Internet access for streaming to the TVs is in place, but due to plan limitations is not available for personal devices. Verizon cell phone hotspots work well for streaming to those, others carriers not so much. A large sectional sofa in the room faces a cozy warm gas fireplace and can accommodate 2 additional sleeping arrangements to the queen bed in the nearby bedroom. This family room is the access point to inside the house from both the driveway and the attached garage, in which there is a ping pong table and both a washing machine and dryer.
The second floor (main) level, with a 20 foot open ceiling and extraordinary mountain views, has another gas fireplace in the main open floor plan living room/dining room containing a queen size sofa bed for extra guest sleeping arrangements, a large coffee/breakfast bar with both a Keurig and regular coffee maker and toaster, and an adjoining fully equipped kitchen with electric stovetop, separate oven, dishwasher and refrigerator. Kitchen has all pots, pans, baking, dishes, utensils, glasses, etc. a family would need for preparing all meals. There is a large deck outside the kitchen entry on this floor that has a propane BBQ and an outdoor seating/eating table with a gas tabletop firepit available for guests to use. Great for outside eating with the BBQ pit right there, viewing the mountains in background, as well as family card games and just relaxing in the comfortable space.
A super large and comfortable master king bedroom with high-end bedding has mountain-facing, floor to ceiling window views, screened porch access, and a private ensuite bathroom containing a luxurious soaking tub and separate tiled shower. Also on this level is the second nicely appointed queen bedroom and the third full bathroom with a tile shower. All bedrooms have beautiful furniture, new mattresses, mattress toppers, high quality bedding/pillows and bath towels. A starter supply of kitchen and bath paper products and small amenities will be supplied at the beginning of guest stays. Guests only need to bring their own food and personal toiletries. There is a full service Ingles grocery store about a 10 minute drive from house.
Outside enjoy both screen enclosed and open deck areas on both the first and second floors, with Adirondack chairs and glider and other guest seating, which you will not want to leave for the long range mountain views and incredible sunrises & sunsets!
There are many destinations nearby including boating (boat rentals available) on Lake Santeetlah and Lake Fontana, fishing, visiting Nantahala National Forest, white-water rafting, canoeing, kayaking , mountain biking, horse-back riding, nature walks and hiking. There are also several day (short) trips from the house, including Tail of the Dragon, Fontana Dam [the highest dam east of the Rockies] Cherohala Skyway, hiking trails at Huckleberry Knob, Twenty Mile Trail, and the Appalachian Trail, Bryson City (with the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad - Polar Express and Nantahala Gorge Excursions on steam & diesel trains), Smoky Mountain National Park, Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, and Harrah's Casinos in Murphy and Cherokee, NC.
House can be accessed without a four wheel drive. The road leading up and the driveway are paved all the way up. One fairly sharp turn at the base of the driveway from the road may require one slight backup adjustment before heading up the drive for larger vehicles such as pickup up trucks/SUVs. We have a video to send to confirmed guests describing the ride up and assist with being comfortable with that ride prior to arrival. Located on a mountainside, it is a fairly steep and narrow ride up to the house, and we do cannot accommodate trailers in the house driveway (please contact host to discuss questions/options on this at a location just down from house), and do recommend guests arrive their first night before dark to get acquainted with the ride up . As we are motorcyclists ourselves, we are motorcycle friendly for experienced riders, but do not recommend riding double up the steep driveway.
The weather is unpredictable here in the winter. Sometimes the road will ice and may be challenging, even with four-wheel drive. Please check weather conditions before your arrival, and hosts will be very flexible with weather-related issues upon guest contacting us to discuss.

Only thing I regret about our trip is not staying longer.. The Cabin was amazing in every way!

Excellent communication with the hosts.... loved all the notes explaining how to find and operate things...the views are magnificent and it is all well-stocked. Really appreciated the video on the drive up. Thanks for letting us share your space in this delightful part of the world.

We came here last year for the riding and knew we wanted to come back with family but not to a hotel. This home was perfect and every detail was accommodated. I couldn't dream of the hospitality that we were greeted by! Highly recommend these hosts!

The pictures of the views on the website for home don't do it justice. The view over the valley and and Great Smokey Mountains is breath taking in-person, especially in the morning. The home is beautiful, comfortable and had plenty of room for everyone.
The Owner has two videos on the website; one showing how to access the trailer parking area, which is at an elevation lower than the house, and then a video of how to negotiate the road and sharp turn up to the house. I watched these videos a couple of times but the actual elevation of the driveway, and how narrow and slanted portions of the drive are, really isn't depicted in the videos. The driveway to where you park trailers, i.e., for motorcycles, is so steep you couldn't see over the front hood of truck when getting to the top of the drive. And getting trailers and equipment turned back around is difficult as you need to head back down the same steep drive when leaving.
Now, the driveway up to the house is a whole different story. The owner does have a video of how to negotiate the extremely tight and rising elevation turn up to the house. Following the video directions for a car is very good...performing this turn on a touring motorcycle, which can weigh in around 850-900 lbs is a whole different story. The turn is dangerous and very difficult, even for seasoned riders, both going up and then traveling back down is even more tenuous. If we knew how hard this turn was going to be, we would not have stayed here.

The drive up to the house is INSANE however you can’t get these views without driving straight up! The house was beyond perfect! I had an 18,17, 15 and 12 year old and it was perfect for us all! We did a lot of adventuring …. Hiking to two falls, Fonatana Dam, rented a pontoon on Santeetlah lake which is the most beautiful lake I’ve ever seen and we are from Michigan with some pretty amazing lakes but none like this one, and then we went to do some white water rafting on the Nantahala river. Beds were perfect, all utensils needed were there! Couldn’t have asked for a better rental! We will be back! Hot tub was perfect too! The views from the master bedroom were a dream! I have so many pictures because the view is literally always changing! Breathtaking! Thank you for sharing your home!

The cabin location was up in the mountains, secluded but minutes away from town. It was Soo quiet and the view was spectacular! The cabin itself was beautiful, 3 bedrooms, just perfect for our three couples. Hot tub was wonderful. Driveway was scary on motorcycle but once you got the hang of it, no issues. Don't recommend trying at night, no lights along the driveway. Beds were very comfortable, nice fire pit for roasting marshmallows. Loved the resident deer (LOL) you have to be there to know what I'm talking about. We were told there was a bear in the neighborhood but we never saw it. We didn't let the rain stop us, just delayed our motorcycle trips to after the fog left and driveway dried out some.

This home was absolutely gorgeous! It worked perfectly for our group of 8!
The mountain views are incredible but come with quite the driveway adventure to get there! The trailer parking video is outdated so it looks a little different once you get there. We had a dually F-350 with a car trailer and it was an interesting journey but is doable with patience!
The kitchen was very well equipped and the grill/fire pit area was perfect for entertaining.
Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Picked the house for Mountain View’s and to decompress/recharge while having access to great motorcycle routes. Pictures and descriptions are accurate. Hosts are incredibly responsive and very nice. House is spacious and set up for comfort in every room. It’s clear there has been very thoughtful and detailed planning with how they have set up the house. Kitchen is well stocked with all cooking tools. We did not need anything except our groceries and we have diet restrictions that we cook all our own meals and use a wide range of cooking tools ( had brought some of my own tools and did not need to unpack anything of my own). The house was very clean and organized with labeling on drawers and closet’s etc. to find things quickly. Had the effect of making one feel as if they had been there before. Coffee bar so nicely set up and easy to use. Very easy to plug in and enjoy the house without have to spend time ‘figuring things out’.

This place was beyond our expectations, the view and the accommodations were amazing, the house is stocked w anything you may need other than personal items/groceries...the only kitchen utensil /pan I couldnt find was an ice cream scoop lmao!
Everything was labeled which was super convenient, directions for the site where clear and if not they were available for questions!
We stayed 4 days 3 nights, there is so much to do in the area!
My only suggestion is DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE the driveway, to get that kind of scenery and serenity there is a trade off lol...up the mountain! I got my bike up but had to have my husband bring it down...
I would and will most likely stay again!!

Very beautiful home and amazing views!
We loved this house and the amazing views! We came out on a motorcycle trip and loved it! However the driveway is no joke (I dumped my bike the first night going up the tight turn so I had my husband take it up the rest of the trip). But it was worth every minute of our stay. Very close to town and great amenities at the house. I would definitely stay again!

Mountain Home for Harley Riding Smokey Mtn Roads
Driveway was a little intimidating at first but no problem after you got used to it. We left trailers at and bikes at lower garage. The house is up on side of mountain with great views of mountains and sunsets. Was amazing to watch the ground fog and clouds go up and down the mountains and valleys. House was very clean and everything worked great and house is very nice. High-top table on deck with fire pit was a hit after dark. While we spent most our daylight riding Harley's in surrounding mountains when we were back at house it worked very well for 3 couples and enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone. We hope to return in future.

Gorgeous, beautifully decorated and very clean home, breathtaking and spectacular views
Amazing views, true slice of heaven right outside your door. Views were absolutely breathtaking, like looking at a picture every second of the day. Quiet, private and plenty of room for family to spread out. House fully equipped with all things that we needed. The beds were super comfortable and the linings were cozy.
The area has an abundance of activities for all ages that were simply outstanding. We had great time hiking beautiful nature trails at several National Parks, Bartram trail, Appalachian trail, Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Joyce Milner memorial hike at Nantahala national Forest was awesome. Boating and rafting the Fontana River and Nantahala River. Walking the Fontana Dam was cool!
Bryson city is a quaint little town with little unique gift shops and The Great Smoky mountain Train ride was awesome.
Cherohala Harley Davidson skyway - Shute cove elevation 3550 ft
Hooper bald trail, Santeetlah elevation 5390 Ft
Huckleberry elevation 5200 ft
Big junction elevation 5240ft
trailhead highest point hike
Tail of the Dragon drive and the Tapoco Lodge Restaurant were 2 of the biggest highlights of the trip.
We would highly recommend this house and the hosts Christine and Tom were super accommodating and we are truly looking forward to our next visit sometime soon.
