Great Hosts, made us feel very welcome, loved our time at Te Whare, was lovely experience.

When we booked, we thought we were getting a place where kitchen and bathroom/toilet facilities were all included in chalet. It was only after we booked and paid we got this email"Bring your jandals for a hop skip and jump to your private bathroom/kitchen in a caravan.". Yeah right. Ok for Summer but not great in Winter to go to toilet.
That fact as mentioned above. Also, we wondered when driving in what we were coming to. A very run down property with dilapidated buildings, a broken down caravan, vehicles, and other stuff lying around that should have long been disposed of. Our chalet needed a clean outside as green from Winter and had "crap" lying around that should have been disposed of. We did our own meals and sitting outside we either looked at the owners property or their junkyard. Not good.

Welcoming and client oriented hosts; access to fresh-picked berries from the farm. We were unfortunate to stay there during the night when Hastings was hit by the Cyclon Gabriela, so we were left without the electricity and partially also the water. Thought phone coverage was ok and data were accesable despite that internet was off.

it’s a beautiful farm
a little far away from center of the town, dark in the evening.

Lovely staff, cute location nice and hidden
Lovely all round but the beds were slightly uncomfortable maybe just need to add foam under mattress?

The whare is located on a working farm and certainly is rustic. But it was spotlessly clean and comfortable.
We didn't appreciate the fact that, whilst all facilities were available, the kitchen and bathroom were located in a caravan adjacent to the whare. The weather was fine so we didn't have any issues going between the two but if it had been raining, the situation would have been very different.

No breakfast had tea coffee milk. Arrived late so ate in Hastings foe dinner. Very private and secluded bit only 5 minutes to the city centre. Beautiful location.
There was nothing I didn't like.

Nice location, well equipped. Friendly staff.
Did not realise the kitchen and bathroom were a separate facility (caravan). Difficult to use in the very wet weather. This was not apparent in the publicity.

It's situated on a beautiful little farm and the cabin is so gorgeous. The beds were very comfortable, it was all very clean, and the wifi was strong. Great value for money and a cute little getaway spot. I didn't speak to Di (we were only there a night) but Matthew was very friendly and helpful. Di was very clear and helpful in all email communications. Thanks so much!

It was great ro be sleeping in a little Matai cottage with a beautiful wood smell inside. It was warm and clean. Electric blankets on the beds were great.
Only tiny downside was having to go outside at night to the bathroom. But it wasnt raining so it was manageable and its only a few steps away.

it was cozy, hosts went out of there way to ensure we had everything. A really good relaxing rustic feel. (if you're expecting a shiny plastic room this isn't for you, but if it's somewhere you want quiet, real fresh air, fresh fruit off the tree (dep. season), almost a 'lite' farm stay (without the flies and 'interesting' aromas's) it's great. Explore a real person's vegie garden if that's your thing, hear a bit of the real-local's history and lifestyles....

Very charming little cottage feel in the bedroom
Was a little uncomfortable having the toilet in a separate facility and it was a very narrow room but I do understand the host to do their best

No complaints

Friendly, generous... kinda rustic and a bit adventurous
The rain... torrential and persistent with leaking roof... however, there's no controlling the weather

Very friendly hosts, everything was stated upfront. It was located on a peaceful and lovely farm.
It was very hot and humid during our stay so the fan in the room was a little inadequate for keeping the room cool.

The ducks in the morning

The historic Whare is surrounded by wonderful gardens and is situated next to a pond with ducks. Beautiful roses were in bloom - the location is great! Very friendly hosts who went the extra mile to meet our needs and make us feel welcome. Love the caravan setup as kitchen/dining and ablution areas. Hot water was excellent and the outdoor table setup was great for the balmy evenings we had there. The drinking water available was so nice 😊
Whilst the fan was good perhaps a small cooling unit would be a great asset

The Whare was so cute and cozy - exactly what we needed. Location was great - handy to town, but still rural. And our hosts were really welcoming.

It's in a lovely spot, but convenient. Di & Matthew couldn't be more friendly and helpful. Accommodation a little unconventional but worked fine.
Bit cramped in the shower, wouldn't want to be a big person.

It was on a berry farm and had animals and a lovely garden. We were greeted with friendliness and courtesy above what is usual at motels etc. We really enjoyed our stay here and I loved interacting with the animals and discussing diy with Matt
