About this cabin rental
This luxury studio cabin is the newest addition to Dam Near Lake of Egypt Cabins (a cheeky name for a surprisingly delightful experience). Our newest cabin has 1 queen, 1 twin Murphy bed, and 1 bathroom. A thoughtful and well-designed 600 square feet of living space makes it an ideal accommodation choice for a couple looking for the ultimate Southern Illinois experience.

‣ Live music plays on weekends at the local bait store and Pyramid Acres Marina during lake season- it carries across the field to the cabins.
‣ A $30.00 pet fee is applicable, per pet, per stay. Max 3.

Adorable cabin nestled off the road a bit. Very clean and well kept this was our second time staying here! Communication with host was great.

We generally enjoyed our stay. We had to purchase a bedspread for the Murphy bed and there was a little cleaning issue but it's a beautiful property and location.

The purple door is now where we’ll be staying from now on when visiting southern Illinois. What a cute quiet place and such friendly and helpful owners. Has everything you need and then some.

Overall we had a great stay. There were some very minor issues with cleanliness. But we definitely enjoyed it and loved the space.

This cabin was just perfect for us two senior citzens and our dog. The location worked out well for us to explore Shawnee National Park. We are photographers there to find the perfect fall color. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the deck looking over the pond watching the deer and chickens. The cabin was clean and spacious, had everything we needed. The only thing we would change would be to have a walk in shower rather than the deep bathtub. Since the weather was so beautiful we had a fire in the firepit one evening and enjoyed visiting with the owners when they stopped by. We would definitely stay there again and would highly recommend it to others.

It was amazing. So glad i booked it. We wanted a place close to the marina for fishing. Couldn't have gotten much closer! It was well decorated an comfy, had all we needed! Icing on top was the purple door! Totally recommend! Allison an her property manager were great!

Great tiny cabin within a few minute drive to the lake. Well appointed, modern, and clean. We enjoyed the covered back porch on the pond - perfect for evening cookouts. Check in and out was a breeze. Highly recommend and will definitely stay here again

The owners left town for the weekend & we soon discovered why. On Saturday night, there was a loud concert until 1am. Shortly after Woodstock started, we lost power & had no idea what happened. We texted the owner, someone else had the business phone and couldn't help us except to say the owner left. Wow.
Eventually the power came back on but the concert went on & on. We thought it might end at 11pm & we could get some sleep but it went until 1am on Sunday. If we had been honestly told about Woodstock taking place, we might have gone to the show or booked someplace else. This felt like a clear deception.
After the power came back on, we still had no wifi & the person with the phone could not give us instructions as to what to do. Sunday morning, still no wifi so we cut our stay short and left to get connected to work.
The property itself was small & you were basically restricted to your cabin so having no electric & then no wifi was an obvious problem. There were no instructions in the cabin of any kind & the website didn't explain if there was a way we could have gone over to the owner's house to reset the wifi feed somehow by ourselves.
The owner never phoned us & apologized, so this was completely mishandled unfortunately.
Lastly, there were cleaning issues, wasps everywhere & bullfrogs made noise all day/night.
Forget about sleeping.
We liked Ferne Clyffe State Park and recommend that and the Vault restaurant in Marion.

The place is exactly as listed and the owners were very responsive to any question or need we had on the trip. It was very clean, organized, and had all the essentials things that we needed. The cabin is very close to several great hiking areas as well as a few grocery shops and multiple restaurants. We loved staying in this cabin and we will definitely come back again.

This was exactly what I needed. I wanted to get away for a few days but could never coordinate with my kids sports/school schedule. Got away on my own/ this cabin was perfect for one person. (Or a couple with small kids) the owner really has a knock for decorating, lighting, and thinking if everything. Pots, pans, utensils, soap, charcoal, lighter, firewood, spices, washer/dryer all provided. Centrally located to everything you want to see in southern illinois. Even if shawnee forest is 45 minutes fro here, it was a Beautiful therapeutic drive.

My children and I needed to get away and spend some time together. Ages 15, 14 and two 7 year olds and all had a wonderful time. We spent time paddle boarding and enjoying the peaceful view, we hiked to some waterfalls and napped. It was a lovely weekend and the cabin was beautiful, the kids begged to stay here again!

We had to deal with a serious issue with our vehicle during our trip that left us having to make some slight changes to our reservation and the hosts were so understanding and accommodating. The absolute best! Can’t wait to go again!

Just off I 55, these great little cabins exist with a little pond and nature all around. We were just looking for a place to stay, with our dog on the way south for Christmas. We didn’t want to stay in a hotel for fear that he might bark at unusual sounds. We found this cute Purple Door cabin. Everything was spotless and clean. All the fixtures, furniture, deck and flooring were new. There was a queen size bed, but also a Murphy bed and a couch. It was cozy and warm and very comfortable. We really wished we could’ve stayed a couple of days and will definitely consider stopping here again when in less of a hurry.

The area is beautiful, nice pond, secluded, relaxing, peaceful.
The cabin was awesome! So very clean! Had everything you could possibly need. Top quality towels, sheets, bed, kitchen tools, very well thought out. I can think of nothing that could be better. Very comfortable for me, my husband and our dog.

Adorable place. Host is incredibly friendly and helpful without hovering. Perfect location for lots of Lake of Egypt attractions. Love the extra trundle bed for our furry friends. Looks rustic outside but very modern inside...we will be back!

This was a great little getaway for my husband, me and our doggos. It was a little drive to get anywhere but we knew that going in. The cabin is on a pond with a couple of other cabins. It was sufficiently private but made it seem not so lonely and out there at night - which is a good thing. We would definitely rent there again if headed that way.

The property management was great it was quiet and secluded. If we needed anything all we had to do is email them. Otherwise they just let us sit and relax as we had planned to do. The only downside is we did not have access to the lake. We did however find a good fishing spot in the next town over. Overall fantastic we will return at some point.

This is a lovely small cabin on private property facing a pond. It was super clean, fresh and modern and comfortable. They provided so many things ( shampoo, conditioner, dish soap, paper towels, garbage bags, pots, pans, spices). I literally brought my dog and me. Cute pond with small beach and 2 stand up boards. Quiet, peaceful, relaxing. Less than 2 miles to a private beach and lake and 15 minutes to an hour to wineries, hiking trails, etc. we booked it up just get away and enjoy walks and peace. Could not be happier. Allison and family were lovely hosts. Highly recommend for a place to get away from it all!!!!

Everything about our vacation at the Lake of Egypt Cabins was great. Allison was always attentive and very responsive. The guide she provided shortly after booking was extremely helpful to plan our trip. The location was great, with many different parks at reasonable driving distances.
As for the cabin, we were really impressed! It was very clean, very well equipped, and quiet...just what we were looking for.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back sometime!

Perfect cabin for a weekend getaway. Close to everything and they give you a bunch of ideas on places to go, we will be back in the future probably in the fall so we can enjoy a campfire or 2. Great weekend. Thank you.

We had a really great time. The cabin is larger than it appears in photos. The pond isn't really for swimming but our boys loved paddle boarding and checking out the aquatic life. The house guide online was convenient and gave great recommendations of different things to do.

Perfect Getaway
My husband and I enjoyed our time getting away from our normal lives for some peace at this gorgeous little cabin. We were really looking forward to swimming at the pond but found it not to be suitable. We did however, enjoy using the boat. The host was wonderful and made sure to pass along info on local events. We would definitely stay here again.

We loved our stay at the purple door cabin! My spouse and black lab took a long weekend trip from Chicago and we were not disappointed. The cabin was so cozy and cute! The amenities were wonderful additions to our stay and we enjoyed walking our dog around the grounds while also enjoying the fire pit. The owner’s recommendations for sites and restaurants were all greatly appreciated and wonderful options. We hope to visit again and would recommend this stay to anyone.
