About this house rental
This space is the best of all worlds: It feels like a home while away from home and it is conveniently located within a few minutes of Marquette and yet also a few minutes from of the best outdoor recreation in the upper midwest. It is situated on popular County Road 550 on six peaceful acres including a pond, trout stream, park like large yard, camp fire pit, gardens and woods. It is comfortable and restorative yet minutes from wilderness areas, Lake Superior beaches, hiking and mountain biking trails, downtown Marquette and shopping areas. Many of our guests enjoy the space as a destination in and of itself for personal renewal.
While not out exploring, you will enjoy this peaceful and bright home. The open floor plan makes it easy to enjoy each other’s company while making use of the well outfitted kitchen, relaxing in the living room and taking in views of back yard from the dining area. This easy flow of the space extends onto the porch where you will enjoy relaxing, dining or grilling. Stargazing, deer watching, campfires by the pond, sitting by the babbling stream, or soaking in the outdoor clawfoot tub all add to the unique experience of this special place.

Entire living space, porch and large backyard are available to guests. There is plenty of parking.
Other things to note
Guests make use of the WiFi calling from their smart phones or make their calls from other locations during their stay. The cellular reception is intermittent but the cable WiFi is exceptional. A glamping space is available to rent in the woods on the adjacent property. The owner and guests may utilize the shared driveway to access the property across the stream during your stay. Your privacy in the backyard, porch and house will be maintained.

We travel to Marquette every year, so we've stayed in numerous spots. This has been our favorite so far, and would definitely check this one first for our next vacation. The location is absolutely perfect for what we like. You're less than 5 minutes away from popular hikes like Sugarloaf, Hogsback, Little Presque beach, and Harlow Lake. Likewise, you're only minutes away from downtown, so you get to be away from the traffic, but still close enough to not feel like you're wasting valuable vacation time with trips into town. Melissa was also a fantastic host, and was extremely communicative. Check in/out was a breeze. If we had a question, it was answered near immediately. Lastly, my wife really appreciated the little things. We've run into issues with other rentals where we'd learn that basic necessities weren't there, or there weren't enough for our entire stay. Not an issue here. There were plenty of trash bags, toilet paper, hand soap, etc ...you'd think this would be standard at rentals, but it isn't. We never ran out of the basics here. Lastly, the smore kit for the kids was a nice and thoughtful touch. We definitely recommend this if you're looking for a cozy spot close to everything.

Melissa's house is a true gem, we stopped here for a few days during our trip along the Big Lakes. It's very well kept, has a huge garden with a pond and a small river. One evening we could even see a deer in the garden! There were all amenities that we could wish for. Coffee, a grill, cooking utensils, a washer and a dryer and much more. Everything was very clean and in excellent condition. The heart of Marquette is only a 10 minute drive.
The house made us feel at home away from home. In our case this was more than important: due to the Crowdstrike grounding, our daughter had major troubles getting aboard her booked flights from Europe to Marquette and we had to do a lot of trouble shooting via phone and web. So Melissa was able, in an uncomplicated and easygoing way, to adjust our stay which was super helpful - thank you very much!
All in all we can only recommend this house to future guests!

We loved our stay at this property. It had everything we needed and Melissa went above and beyond with the little touches like spare toiletries, laundry soap and a Smores kit.
The outside grounds are beautiful and peaceful. The house isn’t a far drive from downtown, trails or stores. Definitely recommend!

Property is very well maintained, great back yard , wonderful and very helpful and responsive host. Location is also convenient; within few miles to walking and biking trails and short driving distance to downtown area. The only negative for us was proximity of the house to main road and it is very noticeable even inside the house due to noise from the road, otherwise I would have rated 5 stars.

Thanks for your kindness?

We enjoyed our stay, as we were in town for activities at NMU. NMU was about 5 min away. Many trailheads are close by, including a trail that runs parallel to the property (best found on google maps). As noted, this property is located on Hwy 550 and there is vehicle noise at certain points of the day. However, the fans provided in the bedrooms worked well to mask the noise while we were sleeping. This is a great place to be close to many wonderful adventure opportunities in the MQT area.

Beautiful Oasis
This was the perfect spot for a friends getaway. The back of the property is beautiful. We enjoyed watching the ducks and the beaver in the pond. We also loved seeing the deer make an appearance. The front of the property is close to a busy road so sometimes the traffic noise was disappointing; however, it did not detract from our visit. The owner, Melissa, was wonderful and extremely helpful.

The house has a beautiful backyard and big window. I drank coffee every morning looking out that window. This house is also located near many hiking trails. We were just out the city of Marquette. We loved our stay.

Myself, girlfriend, and two of my friends stayed at this beautiful getaway over this past weekend for the ARA Rally in the UP of Michigan.
Melissa was a great host, that accommodated all of our needs! The house was extremely clean, and stocked with everything we could have needed over our stay. The firepit next to the pond was great, and the trails over the little bridge were beautiful.
Very optimial spot too, just 10 minutes from downtown, we were able to get food delivered as well through sites like door dash.
We will definitely be back next year, maybe even sooner. Well worth the money compared to the hotels in the area.

The property is beautiful and we made full use of it- both nights we had a campfire and grilled, we also stayed in and watched movies one afternoon when it was absolutely pouring outside and had a fantastic night. The kitchen had everything we needed, which was splendid as we cooked most of our meals at home. Quick drive to many hiking spots and downtown Marquette.
The host was helpful and kind, and gave us plenty of recommendations. Thanks to her we had a lovely kayaking trip down the Autrain river! Highly recommend this place

Very welcoming
Melissa made it very easy for us and went above and beyond by offering to pick up groceries if we needed. The house was very cute, had everything we needed, and the property was great as well. Firewood is a 1 minute drive away near the store that has “dollar dollar beers y’all”. It was great getting back up to the UP. I miss it dearly. Only complaint is that fall color was so late this year. Thanks Melissa!

It was the most perfect get away for our family. The outside tub with the stars of the UP I could not think of a better experience. Property just outside of town and was perfect. Quiet, peaceful, and just simply wonderful. Minutes away from beautiful hikes that lead to beaches of the gitche gumee (Lake Superior). Full kitchen to prepare whatever you culinary hearts desire. Wonderful experience, great communication with the host Melissa. I can’t wait for our next adventure there.

Very Nice Getaway
My son and I vacationed in Marquette, for a week, to see my daughter, who is at NMU. Very convenient location, just outside the bustle of the campus and downtown, yet only 10 minutes away from everything. Plenty of space to spread-out for a small family, internet access and TV for streaming (hulu/netflix with your own account) during the cold rainy days or night time to unwind, and the bottom bunk bed being larger than usual (for a bunk) was perfect for my 17 year old son using his laptop and to sprawl out for sleeping. The covered porch was a plus to be able to grill when we had a couple rainy days or even just to sit and have morning coffee. There were also nice mowed paths to walk by the babbling brook, through the woods and around the pond. The only negative was spotty cell calls and texting capabilities.
