It was a beautiful building, well restored into the various event spaces they use today. Historic touches merged with modern luxury at its best

Fabulous hotel where nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful and different from breakfast to decor. A real treat.
I would have preferred to stay longer!

Location and restaurant option
extra hanging space/options and luggage storage in the room could be more

This hotel is an absolute gem, with beautiful rooms, beautiful courtyard and fabulous staff. The breakfast was amazing, with a fab selection of menu options. The location couldn’t be more central, with the market square, shops, restaurants and bars all a short walk from the hotel.
The hotel has some pre-bookable parking spaces in a carpark called Klein Amerika Parking Lot, which is a bit of a walk to/from the hotel.

Location, public spaces and the staff’s attention to every detail
Prefer a separate bathroom rather than in the room itself
Breakfast fruit was disappointing, I would have expected something more seasonal
4.5 / 5.0
The design of the decor was really what struck me the most. It was dark and funky and moody and romantic, which I think really contrasted well with the courtyard’s aesthetic.
I didn’t have a bathtub in my room which was a bummer- although, I didn’t ask for a room switch , so maybe I could have changed it?

The staff were exceptional.
The bathroom could use better light.
The stairs going up into the loft where the 3rd bed was, felt narrow, steep and a little dangerous at night.

We had a wonderful stay in this extraordinarily beautiful hotel in the buildings of an old orphanage/cloister: a marvellous brick building with red shutters and a spacious patio. We received a very warm welcome and could enter our room a little bit before 15:00. We much appreciated the complementary glass of prosecco, which accompanied an invitation to dine in the hotel restaurant (which in the end we did not do). There are many beautiful details - too many to mention them all. We really liked the wooden roof beams, the colors of the room, the spacious shower, the shampoo/body lotion etc. The matrasses were also excellent. A true highlight was the breakfast, which is served in a stately room with a truly stunning mantelpiece and large painting. There was a small buffet combined with very attractive a la carte options (these are somewhat smaller dishes, so we combined two: pancakes and scrambled eggs, which were both delicious). Here, too, the service was excellent.
Actually, there's nothing to complain about. Maybe I can mention that we missed hooks to hang the wet towels.
For some travellers, it may interesting to know that - at least in our room - there was not a regular bathroom; rather, the sink is in the room, next to the sink is a glass door into the shower, and there is a separate WC.

Breakfast was OK, but we felt the available selection was unnecessarily fancy. Like most people perhaps, we were expecting to find a 'normal' breakfast selection including a sliced bread & toast, a selection of cereals, cheeses and cold sliced meats (ham, salamis, etc.), scrambled / fried eggs, etc. None of these were readily available. Instead there was a small selection of local foods (including 3 types of peanut butter) and a menu selection of small cooked dishes prepared by the kitchen. I had the Croque Monsieur, which turned out to be a small disc-shaped bite, unnecessarily complicated by the addition of sharp flavours and truffel. I enjoyed it, but why not serve a simple traditional normal sized delicious croque monsieur? The second morning I chose the scrambled eggs, which I must say was delicious. I also asked for a small plate of traditional Gouda cheese and ham, to go with the local bread rolls, and that was a real treat. Coffee - delicious! Freshly pressed orange juice - delicious! Service absolutely wonderful. A good experience on the whole.
Our room (No 4) was rather dark. There was a standard lamp by the desk in the corner, which we had to switch on and point into the room. The bedside lights were bright, but mounted on the wall outside of the perimeter of the bed. If you wanted to read in bed then you had to turn the lamp to shine toward the bed. This lit up the entire bed, which meant the person lying in bed next to you was bathed in light and had no chance of going to sleep until you had switched off your light. On our second night, I placed a pillow upright between us, to stop my light shining onto my partner's side of the bed. Also, the coffee corner was very dark, no light anywhere, so I had to use the torch on my mobile phone to find the electric sockets before I could plug in the coffee machine and also to see how to operate the coffee machine. A little light in that corner would be helpful. Thank you.

A truly unique property, with a Michelin starred restaurant on-site. Guoda is such a cute town and WSHS is the best way to enjoy it.
Getting all luggage into the room was bit of a hustle because there was no elevator.

beautiful historic property lavish furnishings and very comfortable
breakfast wasn’t great - seemingly fancy but not alit of choice

The building is a typical old Dutch one what makes the stay more formidable. Personal takes you to your room and explains all amenities along. A lot of care for detail.
The bar closes at 6 pm

Beautiful place, perfect location, wonderful staff, outstanding breakfast. No negative marks whatsoever.
We didn't like the fact we had to leave. Wish we could stay indefinitely.

well located, friendly and helpful staff.
restaurant was closed during our stay. No bar open to get a drink after dinner. Little things that could have been better - e.g. small towels after showering (no robes ), breakfast buffet underwhelming.

the room was very comfortable, nicely designed and the staff were lovely.
That there wasn't a vegan option for breakfast, although the staff did make an effort to bring me some fruit and non dairy yoghurt so I had something to eat.

The hotel is in the heart of town and is beautifully restored and all features considered. The style is unique, clever and charming, a real gem. The staff a wonderful, all options at breakfast beautifully prepared or as it would seem, locally sourced. Amenities are eco-friendly in bigger pumps - so well done about not using little one way Shampoo etc.
The lighting in the bathroom is very cosy, though for my liking, could be a bit more.
