We took our parents on this short vacation- the home was accommodating to our 60-70 year old parents and still created a fun environment on the lake for our kids (14 and 22) to enjoy as well. We love the seclusion and that we were able to bring our dogs - who also looooovvveed swimming in the lake! Thank you for providing and sharing a wonderful home with our family!!

Beautiful spacious home with everything you need right on the lake. A fun time for kids, adults and our pup.

Great property. Clean. Very private. Grill needs to be replaced but other than that our stay was great.

Easy, perfect property with awesome dock. Serene setting. You will love it.

This property was clean, great amenities, and beautiful. My family and pets loved it. I will definitely book this home again for future stays.

We love staying at this property! We've stayed here before and will stay again. We were definitely disappointed in some of the cleanliness this year. It didn't appear as though the sheets were changed. The clean linens were on the front porch for our entire stay but we didn't realize that they were there for our stay until the day we left. The sheets on 2 of the beds were full of dog hair. We don't fault the owners at all...they have definitely made upgrades from last year. We won't hesitate to stay here again in the future.

We stayed and the property for 4 nights and had a blast. The kids loved the lake front and enjoyed the evening fire pit. Very clean and modern farm house stay. Highly recommend to any family who wants to get away and enjoy the lake.

A central place to gather for a family weekend to celebrate Christmas and birthdays for 4 generations to meet for dinner and 3 generations to stay for a few days. The rooms were far enough apart that babies didn't wake up the others. Room enough for all the activities we had planned. Very clean and outfitted with just the basics needed which was great that we didn't have to hover over the younger children to ensure things didn't get broken or moved around. We had a great time!

Spacious, clean, well appointed modern farmhouse on an incredible property.

Beautiful home and property for a fun escape to Lake Anna. The huge back yard and access to the lake are great!

The location was beautiful as well as the home nice getaway to enjoy family for a couple days. We spent two nights to spend family/friend time for my daughters 17 th birthday we are local I teach at the local high school down the road but it was a nice opportunity to go to an area not crowded and enjoy each other
Only negative was we did not bring a pump to inflate our floats so spent a while blowing them up and lots of bugs on patio so bring bug repellent and candles
Beautiful sunset opportunities

The house was beautiful. Great amount of room, we had nine adults and no one felt cramped. There are quite a bit of flies and bugs around the property but it’s just the way it is. the only issue I had with the property was the beds are very uncomfortable. All in all, though a great place to have some fun and memories made.

This huge waterfront property offers amazing views of the sunset and we enjoyed our meals grilled on the large deck. The Good wifi allowed me to work when I had to. Kids had the best time with the on site kayaks and paddle boat. The House was very clean with everything we needed.

We loved staying at this house again, in its perfect setting and equipped with everything we need for water sports, long walks, and watching sunsets from the dock. Kitchen was well-equipped and beds were comfortable. Very clean, well-maintained, too.

Stunning views, great open space, private, quiet, comfortable home.

It was 10 of us, 6 adults and 4 teens and we all loved how clean and inviting this home was. I gave it a 4 star due to the beds being not super comfortable for my liking and there were a lot of bugs and spider web everywhere on the outside of the home. We had to sweep the entry way, the outside walls and the deck area where the chairs were to get rid of the spider web and the bugs. I think a house keeping team should have done that prior to our arrival. Other than that it was such a wonderful place with a beautiful lake view, and well equipped kitchen as well as the fire pit which we enjoyed a lot. I would stay again without a doubt.
4.8
Beautiful home, beautiful property! We were initially given the wrong code for the door, but management was very responsive and we got in quickly. We would come back.
4.8
Everything about this house was perfect. The view of the lake is fantastic, the lawn is enormous, and the property is located at the end of the road with no immediate neighbors in sight. The house was extremely well appointed, and everything was clean as a whistle when we arrived. The kitchen was extremely well appointed, and a pleasure to use - the only thing we couldn't find was a can opener ;)
10/10, will definitely come back for a longer stay!

The house was very private and not located close to any neighbors

First and foremost, working with Vacasa was a horrible experience, and frankly I wonder why VRBO allows them to advertise on their site. They're not owners, and as such are very rigid and hard to work with.
When we arrived at the property the code for entry didn't work. So had to spend time on the phone trying to even access the property.
Second, When we entered the house, it didn't take long to realize that there was white dog hair everywhere. If you sat down on the couch, and had a black t-shirt on, you were going to have a white back when you got up. I texted Vacasa about it, and they stated they would have someone come out to re-clean. However, that never happened.
Third, the shower in the upstairs hall bath didn't work. The handle came off in my friends hand, and it was obvious the property managers knew it wasn't working as there was several screws taken out. Again, I called Vacasa, and again, they did nothing to fix the issue.
Fourth, I thought I left a pair of shoes there. I asked Vacasa if they could just ask the cleaners if they saw them. Vacasa stated they charge $25 JUST to ask the cleaners if they saw the shoes!!!
Needless to say Vacasa is a insane rip off, and I feel bad for any owners that are using them to manage your property.
After all the issues I requested they reimburse some of our money. They stated they would, but shocker, I never heard anything more from them on the issue.
A couple of things of Note.
- The dock didn't have any cleats on it. Making it incredibly hard to tie up. Had to just use the posts.
- The gazebo looked very nice in the pics. However, it was insanely dirty and had an old grill etc. in it. Not actually usable.
The house could have been really nice, if it and the property were cleaned and maintained appropriately. The location is really nice in my opinion. I love that side of the lake, and is convenient to the Cove marina etc. It's nicely out of the way and very quiet.
Unfortunately, I will not be staying here again unless Vacasa is no longer managing the property. Furthermore, I will not be staying in any more properties that Vacasa manages. They're simply to difficult to work with.

House was great and very clean. We loved the complete privacy this house offerred, and watching the sunrise in the morning and sunset in the evening was wonderful! Wish we could have enjoyed the deck more but once 12pm rolls around, you will bake out there. No shade at all. Also no table to eat or play games on outside. Vacasa never answered me about whether there was an outside table so I brought my own Lifetime fold in half table and I'm so glad we did. We loved walking the dogs up/down the long driveway every day and hearing the cows. We really did have a great time and hope to be back next year!!

Updated, clean, and has everything you need for a nice relaxing weekend. Comfy beds and the bunk bed room is really nice.
Nice large yard with gorgeous views!

We absolutely loved this home and the property! It was spotless, very organized, spacious and altogether very welcoming. The large property is great for everyone, plenty of space to play ball, badminton, fetch with the pup, bonfire...anything! We enjoyed using the kayaks available in the boat closet/shed down at the dock (and life jackets were much appreciated). We rented a pontoon and had no issues with navigation or docking. Although, fair warning, some rental companies do not advise/allow boats beyond the Days Bridge. If you do rent a boat The Cove was the most convenient (and lowest price) fuel location. Their restaurant & bar was also nice... we did swim a little at the house’s dock but there were algae warnings for that area of the lake, and while every local we spoke to had no concerns, we were a little more cautious. Although we had NO issues the day we swam at the dock and our dog loved it! The Mad Hen bedrooms and bathrooms are very spacious, well appointed and CLEAN. We came in July, so it was very hot and not ideal for sitting on the deck or a bonfire... we were so tired from playing on the lake each day that we mostly came back to the house for showers, cook dinner and relax! If I could make any changes/suggestions, it would be to add a TV in the living room on the main level... there is nowhere for the family to gather to watch movies all together. There is a lower level TV but the sofa/seating doesn’t allow for more than 3 people; so that was something we were wishing we had. The main level living room is beautiful and the sectional sofa is very comfortable! The other thing would be to add a speaker or some type of hookup for listening to music. These two things are the reason for the 4 stars... I loved cooking in the kitchen, but it felt a little lonely when everyone left to a bedroom to relax and watch TV. I used my phone to play music to keep me company. If I was to get super spoiled “picky” I would love a hot tub too, LOL! We absolutely loved the property name, The Mad Hen, and the family history behind it. The home definitely felt welcoming and full of positive energy everywhere! Thank you for a wonderful experience, our very first, at Lake Anna!

It was our first time staying at The Mad Hen. Great lake front location, in a quiet family oriented area. The house had a farm house feel but very current, clean, light and airy. We'll return, highly recommend.

This home is beautiful in every way, the house, the furnishings, the dock, and the view. The kitchen was fully stocked and very clean. Great place to relax and enjoy the water.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Mad Hen! The home is very spacious, open, and aesthetically pleasing! The location is beautiful with the large lawn and its spot on the lake. Sunsets were beautiful and the stars at night were as well. The house was very clean and organized and had everything we needed. It was easy to communicate with Vacasa and the host for any questions. We definitely look forward to renting this property again if possible. We are a family of 6 and weren't sure if kids' friends would join us when we made the reservation, and we did not even use 2 of the bedrooms. Thank you for a great get-away!

Excellent!!
Fantastic property, right on the water with its own beach and breathtaking sunsets! The house is clean and modern and has everything you need. Onsite kid and adult kayaks made for extra fun on the water. Nice bottle of wine and personalized note welcomed us as soon as we walked in!

The house is spacious, with absolutely no textiles. No carpets, or curtains. There are no breakable ornaments. This was good for us as we had 3 children under 5 and a dog.
It seemed odd that a house which had been rented for some time had not collected the puzzles and playing cards that guests often leave behind, but maybe Vacasa strips those. You can find out; we left 2 packs of cards.
The grounds are a wonderful grassy slope down to the lake. There is a dock, a float boat and a couple of canoes, with pfds which we did not use because of so many tiny kids and it being very early in the season and cold. It was not apparent to us if we were allowed to use them, and Vacasa did not respond when asked for clarification. There is a fabulous private road to walk amid farmland; lots of birds, flowers and butterflies.
Overall we had a very pleasant and comfortable week

Great stay!
The house and property are great! Everything is clean, well appointed, and there’s even a private beach that we will come back to enjoy when it’s warmer. The lake has great fishing and you have a place to dock your boat (marina launch is less than 5 minutes away)

Great house, great stay!
We had a wonderful time. The home is beautiful – very spacious but feels cozy at the same time. It was spotless and had everything we needed. The bottle of wine and note upon arrival was a nice touch! The location is perfect. Huge lakefront lot – we loved hanging out on the dock and enjoying the beautiful views. It was a little too cold to kayak or swim, so we definitely want to come back in the warmer months. The management was very easy to work with. Highly recommend this property.
