About this house rental

Thanks for looking at The Summer Home!

This home is ready to welcome you with its light breezy colors, mid century modern charm, well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, and relaxing vibe. The home is centrally located near NMU, the shops and restaurants on Third Street, downtown Marquette, and Lake Superior.

Walking into the home you are greeted by the dining area that opens to the kitchen ahead and the living room to your right. The kitchen is well appointed and freshly painted with a 1940’s feel. The living room is furnished with comfortable, mid century modern furniture, a smart TV with Hulu and a turntable with vintage albums.

The upstairs includes a bathroom and two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a queen sized bed with quality linens. The guest room consists of a trundle bed with two comfortable twin beds. Both bedrooms have been freshly painted and the wood floors of honey colored fir have been freshly refinished.

The home is pet-friendly and allows up to two dogs for an additional $95 per dog. The backyard is fenced in and convenient for your dog. Please be sure to include "pets" with the number of people staying. Pets are people too! :) Because the VRBO billing system only accounts for one dog, please let us know if you will be bringing two dogs and we will add the additional charge to your reservation.

This home is centrally located on Marquette’s west side in a quiet neighborhood, approximately four blocks to the Third Street restaurants, brew pubs, coffee houses, and shops, approximately four blocks to Northern Michigan University, approximately eight blocks to the Washington Street downtown, and approximately eight blocks to the beach.

This home shares the property with a carriage house, which means there's another house in the back. The carriage house dates back to the days when a relative would live in the back house, also known as a "grandma house" or "mother-in-law house". The other home is also a vacation home (VRBO #2740656). The driveway is shared with the carriage house but your home has its own allotted parking space and has its own private fenced in backyard.

The backyard has a grill with charcoal, lighter fluid, fire starter and cooking utensils as well as a fire pit with firewood for enjoying a relaxing evening with friends and family.

Thanks for considering this summer home! Please feel free to contact us with any questions. We look forward to hosting you!

This was a cute and clean place in a very convenient spot downtown. Everything was walking distance and we had a great time visiting Marquette.

This cute house within walking distance of the lovely downtown Marquette was a great place to stay. It's cozy and comfortable and we had no issues. It's got a fun retro style and plenty of space. The hosts we friendly and had plenty of recommendations. Everything was easy and straight forward with. They even left us a cute welcome basket. The hosts were excellent. Marquette was a good place to stay that was a quick drive to lots of popular UP stops. Note for future guests: If you're over 6ft tall, you're going to have to duck in the shower. The private yard didn't feel quite private. While it is fenced in and great to have for quick pet bathroom breaks, there is a carriage house on the property with tenants and pets. Not a big deal, but our dog likes to bark so we couldn't leave him out to enjoy the yard with others around.

This is an extremely well decorated and cute place in a neighborhood that is very walkable (and extremely bikeable) to downtown Marquette. The beds were comfortable, the place was very pleasing to the eye, and my family loved it. I would 100% stay there again - Marquette was gorgeous and we really enjoyed ourselves. Hosts were great - very responsive and hospitable. Highly recommended!

My husband and I stayed here for eight nights and we were very pleased with it! The house is cozy and well-equipped (very much appreciated the French press in the kitchen!) and comes with a detailed guide to the property and the area. The street is beautiful and quiet, but still an easy walk or drive to the downtown core. The hosts were very easy to get in touch with. We'd happily stay here again next time we're in town!

Overall this place was a great location and the decor was so cute. The quality of books and records were great, if I didn't have young kids this would have been such a fun place to read and zen out. I do however wish it was a bit more family friendly for younger kids. The stairs were ultra steep and not really safe for little ones (we had to buy a couple of baby gates and door latches). So I would advise guests to bring their own baby proof stuff. Also the house is an older one so it is a bit unlevel, the ventilation is in the floor but you can. See straight through the next floor. Not super awesome for quiet and the bathroom you can see up through the kitchen. Not a deal breaker for a family, but did not like that the vents weren't screwed down so I got a little worried that my toddler was going to lift it off and fall through the ceiling.
