L’auberge est bien située, lieu central pour des visites vers Belfast, la côte, les Morne Mountains…
Les petits déjeuners étaient copieux dans une salle très agréable.

Location, clean & great host

The host was super friendly very welcoming, bed was comfy, shower was great and it was a bonus to open the blinds and see some farm animals in the field next to it!
Wouldn’t fault the property for it however we struggled to get back to it from castlewellen as no taxis were available so we walked for an hour.

The location was beautiful and in a very convenient location to explore the Mourne Mountains / close to Newcastle. Felt very comfortable, clean, safe and friendly upon arrival. Staff were accommodating and attentive - yet had discreet presence and other guests were lovely. Beds were super comfortable, shower was amazing and everything was so clean. Amenities were superb and as requested we got dairy-free milk on arrival. Views were great and lovely grounds, the list goes on.... surpassed expectations.
Limited vegan/veggie options at breakfast.

Lots of space in the 3 bed apartment and dog friendly. Well equipped kitchen. Hot tub excellent.
Could have been a little cleaner, some fittings and fixtures quite tired shower pressure poor.

Very comfortable room. Everything was spotless. The owner was so helpful and welcoming. Breakfast is good, toast/cereal etc - perfect for what we needed.☺️
Great location near Newcastle centre and Mournes etc.

Nous avons eu un sapin de Noël dans la chambre (il y en avait 1 dans chaque chambre). C’est une attention que nous avons particulièrement appréciée.
Le lit était extrêmement confortable. Très moelleux.
Douche moyen.

I loved the little extras, there was a Christmas tree in our room, my little boy loved it. The complimentary drink was a lovely touch. The breakfast was great for it only being continental, great selection of breads and fruit, yogurt etc. The views were beautiful, a great location. Only a few minutes drive into town but felt like we were a million miles away.
The host was a lovely guy, very welcoming and friendly. Asked us throughout our stay were we OK, warm enough etc. The rooms were toasty warm, we were there in December so it was great to get back into our rooms knowing the beds were so comfy and warm.
Would definitely recommend and we will definitely be returning.
There was nothing we found negative, it really was a great stay!

The Briers is a very well-located country-type hotel.
I liked the friendliness of the owner and staff.
The tiny pub area where one could buy drinks using an honesty system was nice and cosy.
This lovely hotel was let down by its breakfast. There were no hot breakfast options, and the cold buffet did not make up the the absence of the full Irish Breakfast.
There was an egg boiler so we could boil eggs but frankly, it was rickety. The tea coffee system was eccentric and it was only possible to boil half a cup of water at a time...
Cold meat was spicy, salami type, and it was in the same container as the cheese, so it absorbed the taste and smell.
We did ask for different meat, but they merely added a portion of parma ham and some slices of cheese to the existing tray, so it all ended up smelling and tasting like salami.
The owner was adamant about not serving the full Irish, which is a pity, as cooked breakfasts are part of the holiday experience.
The room was spotless, but the bathroom seemed to have been forgotten. The shower area was filthy with a clogged trap and a hairy base.
The tiles were mouldy, grout clogged with mould etc. and the entire shower unit needed a deep clean.

Not far outside the town of Newcastle. Plenty parking space. Good location for climbing the Mourne Mountains, or walking in Tollymore Forest Park.
Self-service continental breakfast, with very good choice of cereals, breads, fresh fruit, hot drinks, etc.
Free welcome drink in a relaxing snug.
Bedroom & ensuite were a little shabby.

Ambientazione stupenda e struttura davvero molto bella. Il titolare ha un'attenzione incredibile per l'accoglienza, e ogni dettaglio è di livello eccezionale. Se tornerò in zona, questo hotel sarà senz'altro la mia prima scelta!

Comfortable, friendly staff & proprietor, good location for Newcastle and Mourne Mountains, provided you have transport. Being essentially self-service gave us flexibility, which suited us.

Very comfy beds, helpful owners, Starbucks coffee, great breakfast, good wifi, easy parking, clean
Small towels, room needs some maintenance, not as warm as I would have liked

Location and grounds
Upon arrival we were told breakfast was not cooked but “continental”. Turned out to be lots of store bought, plastic wrapped tray bakes, bread, cookies, some ham and cheese slices, help yourself to cereal pockets. Very disappoint8ng.
4.6
Spacious & clean & quiet
Nothing except a little cool in our room and the shower was lukewarm or cold or nice and hot - probably us getting the settings wrong, perhaps being the last room the water went cool when other rooms ran theirs hot

Very cozy and great bed.

Good, wholesome, plentiful breakfast, great facilities, wonderful hosts.

The place was spotless and the staff were very friendly .Brilliant breakfast for continental but would have preferred a full English breakfast .Luv were the business is going would definitely recommend it.
Only downside was not getting a full English breakfast. Would have liked a downstairs bedroom because I had a sore knee and found the stairs difficult but I never asked so I'm sure it could have been obliged .

the location was lovely and not far from Newcastle where we enjoyed a lovely meal near the Harbour

We loved the location of Briers Country House. Walking - roughly 20/25 minutes from Newcastle for walkers. A few minutes by car or bicycle. The host is stop class with wonderful plans for the property and we wish him the very best with his project.
Loved everything.

Amazing scenic location, really friendly staff, comfortable room - with plenty of USB chargers, fantastic breakfast. Really knocked my socks off.

Amazing location and really spacious room with a lovely view. Extremely clean and very comfortable with dogs made welcome which was really appreciated .
Great snug for communal drinks and relaxing in the evening. Informal but tastefully furnished and very inviting.
Fabulous breakfast room with great quality, healthy selection of food and drinks.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back soon. Thanks for a great stay.
