Would go again

Amazing scenery of the country side. Lovely breakfast only had it once and regret not having it more times. Staff was lovely and welcoming.

Nothing really was disappointing about the place everything was extremely amazing

Holmfirth visit

Everything about this place was great. Fabulous room. Friendly staff and lovely food! Definitely booking again next time we visit the area

Lovely view. Nice breakfast. Room was nice, just the bed was small for us. Can’t fault at all.

Clean. Tidy.

It’s not a ‘didn’t like’ but the room and bed were small. We like to spread out!

A bit pricey for what we got.

Food, decor and location were excellent

Room was very small with no furniture, only one small bedside table. We had to put our clothes and things on the floor. I was unable to contact the hotel on the day of arrival by phone or email. The room was not made up on the days we were there.

Really enjoyable overnight stay.

Nice location good food .

When we were shown to our room the room was freezing cold the young lady turned the heating on & when we returned in the evening it was fine but would have been a nice touch to have had room warmed on arrival.

Nice but a bit too noisy

Great location. Fantastic bar / restaurant and brilliant staff. The bed was really comfortable and the pillows were just right. Excellent breakfast selection.

The walls are really thin so I could hear people in the next room snoring and going to the toilet. Quite noisy with people coming and going all through the night.

Our hosts looked after us whilst we were there, perfectly.

The breakfast was excellent. The service was second to none. In my partner’s and my opinion, the young lady who served was very attentive to all the guests needs. She was also very proactive in responding to guests departing the restaurant, by quickly clearing and cleaning the now vacant tables.

The Boshaw Trout lived up to our expectations. We are finding it impossible to write about what we didn’t like.For us, our accommodation and stay was perfect.

Ideal for Holmfirth picturedome

Fat pillows on a comfy bed, well presented breakfast, pub downstairs, exceptionally clean, good shower and seperate huge bath if that's your thing. Nice styling in the rooms, shutters at some windows looked great (altho not sure if would let early light in mid summer). Flat fee for taxi down the hill into Holmfirth (£6 Oct 2023) so fab for visits to the Picturedome for gigs.

The position of the property makes it pretty windy. Despite the double glazing, there were howls and rattles all night (and we had windows on 3 sides of the room). So I would recommend taking ear plugs if that would be a problem.

Excellent stay, beautiful scenery, friendly staff, comfy nights sleep with glorious breakfast!

The bedroom was large, modern and tastefully decorated. Stunning views from the bedroom windows of the local countryside. The bed was comfy, powerful shower with plenty of hot water. Lovely meal had in the restaurant and bar was buzzing with a friendly and lovely atmosphere, all bar prices very reasonable. All staff encountered were smartly dressed, jolly, friendly, courteous and helpful. Great choice for breakfast, well presented and delicious. Car park was large, clean and free. Short taxi ride into Holmfirth only costing £6. Would highly recommend staying here and look forward to returning one day soon.

There was no door closer on the door leading outside to the car park. As our bedroom was above we could hear it slam shut every time someone entered or exited to pub. This didn't effect our stay too much as only using the bedroom as base and returned when the pub had shut but the door slamming did start quite early in the morning.

Very pleasant stay, we would definitely visit again.

Lovely country pub with great views. The staff were friendly & helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Clean, comfortable, modern room. Great breakfast. Short taxi ride into Holmfirth.

Our bedroom was quite small which meant the double bed was against the wall, with only one way out. There was only a hook on the back of the door, we could have done with a coat hanger/ somewhere to hang clothes.

Enjoyable stay at the Trout on the Hill

Staff were really friendly and attended to all of our needs, thank you. Great breakfast served in the conservatory. Nice range of evening dishes in the bar.

Bar area was OK but a little sticky in places. Could have been due to the thick hill drizzle that had been coming down all day long. Food service ends at 6pm Sundays, so beware if you arrive later.

Good stay, nice room that would benefit from some modification. Would recommend it overall.

Excellent breakfast, friendly staff and a good pub. Clean and well equipped room.

Bed in our suite was a "fold out of the wall" design which was comfortable, however, it was difficult to comfortably read in bed because there was no effective headboard and no bed side light arrangement. Suggest a large cushion or bolster be provided to make up for no headboard. Definitely needs some sort of bedside light arrangement

Value for money.

Beautiful and quiet location, near Holmfirth. Plenty of parking available. Lovely pub, conservatory and rooms with great views. Comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast and friendly staff. Food and daytime menu looked great but unfortunately did not get to try.

Food service finished at 6 on a Sunday evening. Pub closed between 9pm and 8am. so had to use the fire escape to enter or exit the building after 9pm which was not accessible with a dog. Room was smaller than expected.

Excellent breakfast, lovely rural location

Tiny bedroom . Small double bed pushed against wall .smoke detector covered with foil. Noise from other guests trying to get in building at night,had to get up to open door for them.
