Nice beds and shower
Location - noise until 3 am! Deadbolt lock broken from inside. Room in alleyway on street level.

Excellent hotel. We wanted something 'different' from a corporate establishment. The Frenchman was perfect in every respect. Starting with our late arrival, to a slight problem with room, the staff were brilliant in everything, nothing was too much trouble for them. The location and music venues was everything we hoped for. Only sorry we didn't stay longer. It made for a trip of a Lifetime.

I chose the Frenchmen because of it's decor, price and location and everything exceeded my expectations on those 3 fronts. Extra bonus was that the bed was super super soft and comfortable.
I was happy with everything based on my expectations. There was nothing I was not happy with. I had been warned that it can get very noisy at night because of it's location but I went in September when it is low season so the nights were quiet. Ear plugs were offered for free at reception

The location is great. Only steps away from many bars with live music. There is a streetcar station a couple of blocks away and super convenient to walk through the French Quarter. The swimming pool/jacuzzi is great and the front desk staff is super nice and helpful. The decoration is cozy and, overall, a cute hotel.
The hotel offers light room cleaning service, which I don't necessarily mind. But in my case, the room was not cleaned daily. The bathroom was also not properly cleaned when I arrived. I feel that improving that or having optional regular cleaning service would make the stay much more enjoyable.
The area is loud at night, which I knew, but it might not be for everyone if you look to stay in a super quiet spot.

Everything was great. It was clean and so welcoming. The staff was fantastic, especially LeRoy.

Nice, well decorated rooms. Mostly friendly staff. Great location.

Friendly staff. Especially, Cullen was very helpful and shared a google doc with places to eat, visit, things to do etc. Location of Hotel is in walking distance to Frenchmen street and the French Quarter. Even though it was mentioned on the site that it was close to the "partying noise" -- I wasn't bothered by this at all. Found it was mostly on the quieter side of Frenchmen street... with the occasional cars/buses passing by blasting loud music. Room was cozy and sweet. Comfortable bed. Especially enjoyed the wash cloth textures.
Airconditioning to close to the bed, not ideal as a personal preference.

The pool is lovely and the location is great (if you are into music and want to be close to the bars on Frenchmen which have fantastic live jazz performances.)
The building itself is quite gorgeous.
Horrible service. I received impersonal text messages regarding everything including checkout and warning about extra fees for returning keys- even though the person at the reception seemed not very occupied! I would have stayed elsewhere if I knew that this was their policy for service. I choose boutique hotels/bed and breakfasts, and smaller hotels for the more personal service and to help out smaller businesses.
The bed was creaky and the furniture in general didn't seem well-kept.

I loved the hotel, pool, location and bar! I would definitely stay here again. It is so close to everything and it has a great atmosphere.

amazing location. great pool and bar! lovely rooms.
there were too many reminders that if you lose the key it’s $125. that feels too expensive, and the number of reminders stressed me out.

Everything was fantastic. Location was great, it was clean, the pool/jacuzzi was nice. Staff was amazing as well 10/10!

cute historic spot on the best street for music. room was comfortable and staff were great.
4.3
Location was great, rooms were clean.
The rooms were really really small and the bathroom even smaller.
4.3
The room was well remodeled, especially the bathroom with new fixtures. The bed was comfortable. The refrigerator was a plus, as was the petite writing desk. We appreciated the early check-in after an early morning start. The hot tub was small but therapeutic.
The noise levels from the street music until 2:30 a.m. were horrendous both nights. Frenchmen is a party street, I know now. The air conditioner made loud noises from the bad bearings (?). The ceiling fan was out of balance and started wobbling badly and noisily without warning. I reported the last two issues twice, but staff offered no solutions or other room. Sleep was difficult at best even though I am usually able to sleep through anything.

Close to the crazy but far enough away as well

Lovely interior and comfy bed, amazing pool and courtyard area. This hotel is adjacent to some great music venues and the Jazz museum.
The TV didn’t have any use whatsoever. I suppose folks don’t come here to watch TV but it would have been good even to just be able to log in to a Roku.

Location is fantastic. Very clean, secure and well maintained.

Just stayed here for 4 nights through Mardi Gras. I came relatively solo but planned to meet with some friends that live in the St. Claude/Bywater area so figured it would be easy to connect with them and still do my own thing slightly away from Bourbon street. With that in mind this place was perfect for me. Many other reviews reported the hotel being loud. It is true but not unbearable and I'd be hard pressed to find other hotels during this stretch that would identify as "quiet". Despite that expectation I found the way the hotel was situated at the beginning of Frenchmen street to be actually kind of peaceful among that chaos. I took breaks to enjoy the pool and hot tub. The staff was friendly and accommodating. They hooked me up with a much cheaper cab over an uber to the airport and fixed my tv while I was there.
I think I must have booked one of the last rooms right right before a big weekend and had a room right on the entry walkway. You can hear just about every foot step and voice that passes by. If you're able to sleep with a little white noise turn the fan on and it covers it up so its not a big deal. I would try to get a bigger/balcony queen room next time however. The rooftop bar and venue aren't open which is mysterious but seems like they could at least do something with the space so when travelers want to chill out for a little they don't have to just be in their room or by the pool. I ended up taking a nap and getting some sun on a wooden bench. Some lounge chairs or something, fire pit, etc would be super cool for travelers coming from the north that actually want some sun. It's an other wise shady place which I'm sure is nice in New Orleans summer heat.

The Frenchmen hotel is ideally located between Frenchmen and the French Quarter. The property is beautiful, clean and the rooms nicely decorated. I loved the hidden pool! From the check-in to the check-out, the staff has been super welcoming. There is also a cute shop at the reception where you can buy beautiful souvenirs from local artists.
I loved everything about this hotel, but if you’re a light sleeper, this might not be for you. You’re on Frenchmen so there is music and people partying all night. But isn’t it what you should do when in New Orleans? :)

What a pleasant surprise! This hotel is very beautiful and will keep you gazing on every inch. Pool and hot tub felt amazing. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Inside the rooms is plenty of space, nice large shower. Mini-fridge. Clubs very close. Most definitely recommend.
Hard to find food to deliver. Only had one set of keys and needed them to get in and out. It was pretty loud but with the air going in the room it didn't bother us.

great location. clean rooms.

excellent location. two block walk to French Market, right at start of Frenchmen street. beautiful courtyard. rooftop space where the closed bar / music venue is was great for watching fireworks from on new years. friendly staff.
for the rate we paid I was underwhelmed by the breakfast option, and a little disgusted at the idea of $4 muffin. however envie two blocks down Decatur is a delicious breakfast spot
we knew going in this would not be a quiet stay, so we packed ear plugs (they also provide them in lobby). we thought the on site bar/music venue would be the source but it’s been closed since the fall 2022. staff said it was being renovated to a tiki bar but no evidence of that was obvious.
we also knew this was located in the heart of the action so the thumping cars going by were not surprising but kinda obnoxious
but the most obnoxious noise actually was from any other guest coming and going, or conversing in adjacent rooms, or using the hot tub after a night out (which we were told was only open 9a-6p but staff turned it on for someone after midnight), glad we enjoyed it our first two days because the next morning the hot tub water was brown.
I’m not sure what they could do about soundproofing since the place was built in 1860’s, so just be warned.
also because of the age of the place, the rooms are rather small.

Best decor and linens/bedding of the 3 different owners that have moved through since I started coming here in 2011. EXCEPTIONAL customer service and tailored amenities (like a nice little bt speaker, high quality soaps, chic but comfortable furniture). Also, I had an issue where booking offered me an upgrade but it wasn't reflected in their scheduling system. They honored the upgrade AND offered my partner and free in room snacks and drinks for the trouble. Incredible and personal communication about any and all issues with the general manager. And this is all adding to a building and cpurtyard/hot tub, that I find so appealing that as a new orleans native I'll book rooms in and not visit any of the surrounding tourist traps. Book the king balcony suite for haloween or the smaller parades. You are GUARANTEED to have a good time.
My one (extremely) minor gripe is that the room I was in could have used a dresser, or shelves in the closet. If you like to completely unpack, not of the rooms, even the larger ones, have a great option for that. BUT I'd say it's still well worth it.

I’ve been staying at the Frenchmen for almost 20 years, but hadn’t been back since the remodel. Beautiful, thoughtful design with depth in color and vibe.

great location, comfortable rooms
room lacked lighting and convenient mirrors for make up and drying hair. Some staff lovely others uninterested

The location is the highlight of this hotel. It was walkable to the French Quarter and near tons of things to do. The staff was exceptional in helping me field my concerns about the room.
While I was alerted after booking about the noise, in no way was I prepared to not sleep during my two night stay. I am not a light sleeper, and even with ear plugs the noise was unbearable. The text I received after booking stated you would hear the music from Frenchman street. What was actually the case was you heard EVERYTHING as though it was directly next to your bed. I stayed over a weekend so every party bus, bumping car, etc came through the room since the door faced a courtyard. It was beyond loud. I was on a first floor room and I could hear every step the room above me made all night long the second night. Additionally, the first room I was given had a very minimal lock in the door handle and as someone traveling solo did not feel secure at all. I was moved after I voiced my concerns, to a room with a heartier lock, but there was no mechanism to prevent the door from being opened while in the room such as a swing bar. Last point - the bathroom was so small moving in the shower was difficult and in the first room I was given my knees touched the sink while on the toilet. It was a very tight room. Overall the hotel gave real hostel vibes for a much higher price point than a hostel.
