Cooking oven was missing. For a studio not ideal, if u wanna take care of yourself and not having dinner outside every day

The high ceilings and the air conditioner. I liked the courtyard and the staff. Great proximity to the beaches, restaurants, and an awesome sunset spot.
TV didn't work. But they did come and fix it. Didn't have a microwave in the room. But they did have one to borrow.
Really hard to find at night. Need to get dropped off by uber at the restaurant down the street. Pay close attention to the emailed instructions.

Lovely apartment in the heart of Ferragudo. Less then 2 minutes away from the main square with loads of bars and restaurants yet on a very quiet street. Will definitely be back!

Beautiful apartment, fantastic location, close to main square where there are lots of restaurants. Outside area is great for sunbathing and drinks in the evening. Easy to find and no hassle check in. We would definitely stay again.
The apartment was perfect

Perfect location and cleanliness. Bed was good
Bare concrete floor all through Needed floor covering. Shower needed tiling

Gorgeously decorated property located in the middle of the old village. The decor was charming, yet modern. Several different patios throughout the property, offered various settings and one had a great view. Having a washing machine and dryer available was very convenient. Nice and quiet.
The double bed. We requested one of those modifications to make it more comfortable for two people, but they said they did not have it. It appears in pictures as a double bed. Also, one patio is located right next to the bedroom window and is not very private. We used the patio every morning for breakfast, which was very nice, and we greeted other guests coming in from the outside. :)

Everything was fine :)

so close in location to the town and beach! couldn’t be more central. the decor, cleanliness and size of room was fabulous!
when the shutters are open to let in the light they don’t offer much privacy - a very small comment, we loved our stay

Décor, location, the patio
there was no door on the shower and it got a little cold as it was rainy season. probably not an issue during the warm months

Easy to get to, just inside the old town, lots of cafes and markets nearby. Comfortable bed (2 twins pushed together, but comfortable mattresses and 2 comforters), fairly quiet, responsive host. Good water pressure in shower and good WiFi. Rooftop patio nice.
Really not well set up for food preparation. They were kind enough to buy an aluminum pot for us to heat milk in (when we realized there were Nespresso coffee pods and machine but the creamers were expired). There’s one burner and a pan with coat peeling off, but no spatula or utensils of any kind. Hot shower unreliable—sometimes great, most times lukewarm, once only cold water.

Beautifully decorated
The first room (red room) smelled musty, like mold. The largest issue was there were sheer, one layer curtains on glass French doors that led out to the courtyard. If the light was on in your room and another guest entered through the courtyard door, you could clearly see the path from the bathroom to the bed. In fact you could see a 1/4 of the bed doom the door. As I am a woman traveling by myself, this made me feel very uncomfortable. I contacted the owner and he acted as if I didn’t know what I was talking about. I offered to show him. His response was only hotel guests could get into the courtyard. Well I don’t want hotel guests looking at me either. I was very nice. I asked if I could have some paper and tape or some clothespins and some towels. I was told that I’d be charged for damaging the place. I asked if I could move to another room. He told me he’d charge me a cleaning fee. I told him that was unreasonable. I think feeling safe is the most basic need any owner should be obligated to provide. He ended up letting me change to the yellow room that overlooks the street. It was a beautifully decorated room. My only complaint that there are two French windows overlooking the street. The there are two very steep steps down leading to the windows with no railing at two different places in the room. There is only about a 1.25 M (4ft) clearance between the step and the bathroom. If you were to go from the bed to the bathroom in the middle of the night, it would be extremely easy to fall down the stairs.
If you read the manual, there is a fee or ways to reprimand you for any possible situation. It should have been a very good sign on how you would be treated.
I would not recommend staying at this place.

It’s very stylish and tastefully decorated. Bottle of wine and beer left for guests is a nice touch.
I went out of season. The bed in the Blue room I booked was really damp and the room felt unaired, as if it hadn’t been used for months so it was also quite dusty in places. When I contacted the owner in Holland she let me have another (better) room immediately, with apologies.
BUT. The larger Red room smelled really bad all the time I was there. I soon realised it was the stinky inside drain leading from kitchen sink and shower room. I frequently poured dribbles of toilet cleaner down the plugholes just to try and mitigate the foul smell. I hope the owner sorts these issues out after reading this as care and maintenance of the place felt a bit neglected.

nothing to complain about.

Excellent location on the main street. Nice shared areas, garden and roof terrace. Apartment was spacious and clean.
The 'Orange Room' - one bedroom apartment is located in the basement, with two very small high windows that provide little natural light or ventilation. Being located in the basement the whole apartment had a damp feel and musty smell from the moment you walk in. Hosts response to the smell was open the small windows.
Reading other reviews it's apparent other guests had the same issues with this room.
A shame as the 4 studios/ rooms on the first floor looked great and I'm sure the stay would have been great in one of these rooms.
In short, don't hesitate to book here, but DO NOT book the One bed apartment.

We rented all the rooms for our stay here. Each one of them were unique, big and very functional. The common outside areas were charming with all the flowers around. We spent a lot of time there and it was memorable. Perfect decoration. We were so surprised! The tenants were very arranging and available. We had all the help we asked for plus some recommandations so it was very nice from them. Highly recommend this guest house. We’ll love to come back!
We had trouble with the hot water in the beginning so we had to take cold showers. Thankfully, it was settled pretty fast.

*the location, cleaning ladies , especially the younger daughter, very nice!
*owner was helpful with cable and attentive.
*upstairs loft apartments are vaulted ceilings and nice decor.
*laundry and beautiful terrace!
*great view from terrace and comfy seating! my favourite part !
*wonderful air conditioning for hot days! *great comfy beds! lots of towels and extra sheets and pillows!
* quiet area except weekends lol
* loved the boiling water pot and coffee and tea provided -
*very secured and felt safe
*would stay again in upper vaulted rooms
*at first we were in a damp smelly basement apartment that was awful but we were moved and enjoyed our stay there.
*the owners need to make clear that the lower level apartment is a basement with one tiny window. this way people are not surprised and thrown off by the pictures.
* lots of bugs and spiders from being lowest level and cement damp floor*
bathroom behind sink and toilet were gross * the basement apartment it’s far away from laundry and terrace and microwave.
*the kitchen is not equipped to cook for extended stays. it should be advertised as a butlers kitchen.
*Strong smell of Marijuana on terrace ( prob from other tenets) horrible cat pee odor, hard to enjoy with such strong smells.
*the laundry and microwave area is very dirty and is in disarray. it’s not very well kept.
*furniture is old and falling apart in basement apt. we couldn’t use the table chairs because they were all broke and it has a musty odor like great grandmas old basement furniture.

Room itself was beautiful and comfortable. The outside space was a great plus

We loved the yellow apt we stayed in ;from the high wooden ceiling, to the patio overlooking a interesting old town street.(a walking street no cars)
The apt has been tastefully restored with all the mod cons we like. We slept well as the patio door were sound proof, and the air con kept us cool.
We arrived on a Sunday some of the little grocery store were closed, so it was a nice touch to have water & beer in the fridge. The housekeepers were very helpful in getting us a taxi to our next location on check out.

bathroom too small, no door to bathroom. street noise could be loud

A very nice house and a lovely room.
If you go outside for eating - a really nice place.
The inside garden/terasse is fantastic.
Unfortunatly the first morning they have some very loud working noise in the house,
so no longer sleep.
The little kitchen is not really equiped - so we had only a little pan, but not 1 pot - not easy to cook anything.

We had a very happy experience at Alma de Vida. It is an old building divided into 4 apartments. It was freshly painted and clean. Our apartment was on the ground floor looking out on the interior courtyard. Climb up the steps to the roof terrace and there is a good view and comfortable seating. But the best thing about Alma da Vida is Piet, who looks after the property. He is Dutch (with impeccable English). He was charming and friendly and was immensely helpful to me (I had medical problems). He is a real treasure and made our stay there memorable.
We liked Ferraguda very much. A wise council has decided they don't want highrise concrete hotels and apartment blocks. The result is there is still the character of a fishing village, with old buildings being done up for holiday lets. We went in the first half of April so there were not many vacationers. Two beaches were within easy walking distance but nobody was swimming yet in the cold sea.. There is a café/restaurant just below the apartments which we loved. The owner Salome made many different pastries which we had for breakfast and did a 10 euro dinner with wine that we made full use of.
We really enjoyed our time there.
Getting the key in the building's front door was a bit of a challenge! That is not much of a negative.

A very nicely and newly renovated house by owners Miranda and Mo smack in the middle of the Ferragudo village with walking distance to shops, restaurants and beaches. Traditional architecture but fresh and modern inside. My room, the Yellow Room, is about 25 m2 with a large twin bed, an ensuite shower room/WC and even a small kitchenette with fridge, coffe maker etc. Cement floors and an exposed stone wall are very cool as is the double height ceiling with exposed beams. Stove, oven, washer and dryer in the common hallway. There is a wonderful patio and a roof terrace for common use. Last but not least there is Piet. An extraordinary nice and helpful caretaker of the property. When my transfer did not show at the train station Piet collected me. When I was missing soap in my room Piet got some for me. When the 200+ channel TV box did not work Piet restarted it. So don’t be like most people, be like Piet 👏🙂
I loved all of it, but to mention something as a big Viking I would have loved some larger bath towels and also a few more sockets for my electronics.
