About this cottage rental

Lovely 2 bed/2bath cottage in the midst of 250 private acres to enjoy. New pond in April of 2022. Whether it’s the privacy alone or the wish to experience nature to its fullest in all seasons , this tranquil setting will entice you to relax and forget about the pressures of life in these times. Located on a small creek that feeds into a designated wet land, nature abounds. Perfect for birders or an energetic hike, the graceful rolling hills of these Enchanted Mountains will refresh and inspire. Many maintained trails both in the open grasslands and the managed woods. Snowshoe or cross country ski in winter, partake of the native fruits including apples, blueberries, blackberries, rhubarb and more in summer. Just 6 miles from the city of Olean and all its various restaurants and shopping or St. Bonaventure University. Ellicottville with its excellent ski resorts and night life are just a scant 12 miles away A well stocked kitchen with all the amenities is a cooks delight. Enjoy the Weber grill or the fire pit in the back yard while you listen to the birds serenade. A special treat is the summertime fireflies by the thousands. They still thrill me after 34 years on the property! A large deck on the back of the house has an array of furniture to while away a peaceful couple of days or weeks. Leave the “ rat race” behind, you deserve it! New pond in adjacent field completed last year has greened up with mowed lawn and stocked with fish this April more coming the end of May. Come and enjoy!!

This house was awesome! It was exactly as photographed. It was incredibly clean throughout which made us feel comfortable instantly. Great firm but comfy beds with plenty of bedding and pillows- I usually have trouble sleeping away from home, but no problems here! My dogs and I enjoyed the plush carpet in the bedrooms, they could have comfortably slept on it instead of in their beds. The living room was cozy to relax in, all the furniture was comfy and clean. My dogs loved the backyard, plenty of room for them to run on the property. I could go on and on about how much we enjoyed our stay. Unfortunately it rained both days, so it was too wet to take full advantage of the trails and pond area, so I will definitely be coming back to do so. Even though we couldn’t be outside as much as we wanted, the house was great and made for a great relaxing getaway away from the city. I wish I could’ve stayed longer!

What can I say as to the cottage. You know you found the right place to rent when you walk in the door and its feels like home! Dave was fantastic as to his level of communication; but more so how quickly he circled back as to confirming my reservation and with information as to checking in. He left additional check in information on the counter, which was extremely helpful. The cottage was spotless (realized in the guest book that another renter had check out the morning of my check in day, but you would have never known based on how spotless the cottage was). The kitchen was fully stocked, even with a Kitchen-Aid Stand mixer. The two bedroom and both bathrooms were wonderful, the master bedroom had a best mattress. Now lets talk about the tier deck. Perfect place to have breakfast and lunch each day, or to just relax on the lounge chair and read a book. The trails are well marked, and was a great way to start the day with a good 45-minute hike or walk each day. Dave, the owner, was fantastic in ensuring that my stay started off on a positive note, and he ensure that I had his contact information in case I had any questions. I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone who is looking for a place to simply relax, recharge, and unwind for their hectic life. The house was amazing! Upon arrival The inside was spotless, immaculate cleanliness. The hiking trails on the property were a lot of fun and an added bonus. The back deck was perfect for morning coffee and breakfast along with relaxing on in the evening. We rented for my wife's 40th birthday get away and this place did not disappoint, it was amazing. The mattress for the bed was firm however the linens and bed sheets were top quality and spotless. We look forward to coming back and renting this property again in the future. We highly recommend this property it was perfect!

One of the best rental houses we've stayed in. Our trip was for a college orientation and the house gave us the perfect setting and atmosphere to be able to squeeze in a relaxing time. For our dog, we're pretty sure it was his favor place since the properry had some fields for him to have been able to run a little.

Unique rental. Remote and private, property is full of wildlife and beautiful. Relaxing on deck and listening to the birds was excellent. Interior is very well appointed, clean with everything you could need.

What a beautiful place both inside and out. We really enjoyed the bird songs in the morning/evening and starfilled skies at night. Like your own little slice of a woodland fairytale but with all the modern convenience. Perfect distance from shops and food. Made a trip to Bradford for the case/zippo muesem, had a fabulous dinner at The Eatery in Olean. Great place and hoping to come back soon.

Our stay was fabulous! The communication with David was awesome, the check in was incredibly simple, and the house was exactly as described! It was very clean, well furnished, and provided everything we needed. I took my dogs and we thoroughly enjoyed hiking the paths on the property. We had an absolutely wonderful vacation! This was exactly what we were looking for: privacy and access to nature. Cottage was well maintained and comfortable. We cooked most of our meals right in the kitchen and had to spend some time indoors due to rain, and it was no issue at all. There's some great outdoor spaces including a short trail up the hill across the road. Host was responsive to communication and the check-in/check-out process was easy. We are looking forward to coming back some day.

My family and I loved this home! It was one of the cleanest homes we have ever stayed in. It was well stocked with quality pots/pans, dishes, bowls, glasses, mugs, utensils, bath towels, and blankets. The home was also decorated so beautifully - from the rainbow checkered toss pillows to the paintings on the walls. It was also nice having a quality washer and dryer to use during our stay. The owner had many games which included jenga and also a kit to make paper airplanes which kept my boys busy! And although we didn't venture outside on the trails, the views were gorgeous. My boys also enjoyed walking over to the lake. We would highly recommend this place! It's just a short distance to Holiday Valley to ski and Tony's Napoli pizza and fish in Olean was excellent!!

David’s place was the perfect peaceful getaway for my wife and I. His place had the best kitchen and cookware to make great meals. The fire place was delightful after a day of hiking on his property and nearby. My wife went skiing at holiday valley one day because of the close drive from David’s place. We highly recommend booking this place for your next trip. Thank you David!!

It was the perfect place to unplug. Although it was a rainy weekend we still got to enjoy some of the property with our pups. The city of Olean was super cute. We look forward to going back to check more of it out. Cabin description was exactly as described. Highly recommend.

A quiet location, out of the way but near a small city with shops and restaurants. The views and trails are spectacular. Everything one would need is in the cottage. If you are seeking real peace, this is the place for you!

Our stay in early November was just what we needed. Warm and inviting cottage with all the amenities you could ask for. It felt like home as soon as we walked in the door. The view of the hill and ridge from the cottage was amazing and the view during our hike only got better. The fire place, extra blankets, comfy furniture all made for a unbelievably relaxing and cozy stay. We ventured both to Olean, an easy 15 minute drive, and to Ellicottville, about 25 minutes away. We couldn't have asked for a better location. Most importantly, our communication with David was fantastic. He was a pleasure to talk with and quick to reply to all of our questions. Next time we'll bring our snow shoes!

All of the grounds were well kept and made for a great country getaway. We feel so lucky to have found this beautiful property. We loved the accommodations- spotless, beautifully decorated with glorious views of the surrounding enchanted mountains complete with hiking trails. Just a few minutes from the center of Olean and the host David was so responsive and helpful during the booking process. We hope that we will be able to return sometime soon- so much nicer than staying in a hotel.

This property lives up to the reviews. It is truly a lovely place to spend a relaxing vacation. It was perfect for husband, teenaged son and I. The home is pristine and stocked with everything you need. Deck, grill, firepit, hiking trail, pond, games, puzzles, wifi...everything is right there to unwind and relax. We all hiked the trails for a beautiful view,,,spotted lots of deer and also saw a big family of wild turkeys! Also there is horseback riding nearby and pickleball every morning at the local Y :-) It was a great week and David is a thoughtful and communicative host!

Such attention to detail! Everything we needed was there! Firewood, kitchen and pantry items, books, magazines, clean linen, grill items, tasteful art decorations, majestic views, even had a table bench set up to view the morning sunrise, groomed hiking trails, washer, dryer, dishwasher, clean premises and a very cordial and accommodating host. We were blessed to find this gem!

This cottage more than met our expectations. It is beautifully decorated, the kitchen has everything you could possibly need, the beds were extremely comfortable, and the yard & trails are lovely. We used the firepit and really enjoyed that, along with the board games inside.I would definitely stay here again, & would highly recommend this cottage!

Starting with a fun fact about this listing: David built this place on his own and hands down he did a spectacular job! The photos on the listing don’t make any justice to the actual cottage. My family enjoyed this place and it was relaxing to walk(I mean hike) around David’s huge estate, you even get to see wildlife. And yes! David was a wonderful from the moment I booked this listing. If you’ve shortlisted the cottage, just go for it! You can hike, relax, do some fun activities all at one place.

We visited David’s place with our two young kids (3 years and 6 months) and dog and had the best weekend! The house and property is absolutely beautiful. It’s well maintained, clean, and spacious.
