Perfect property for a romantic getaway. Beautiful views, everything you need for a special retreat. Owners were great to work with!

This was our second trip to this beautiful house and we just love it! It is perfect!!
4.9
Very nice home in a secure gated community with extreme privacy and extreme views. Only drawback is the long drive to Boone and blowing rock but worth the stay.

My husband and I stayed at the cabin for a three-day weekend trip for our anniversary and it was simply perfect! We LOVED the gorgeous view off the deck and the hot tub. When it got too hot outside or rainy, we snuggled up in the cozy nook and enjoyed the mountain view from the comfort of inside. It felt spacious and clean while also cozy and warm. It's a little bit of a trek to get to the nearest town, and we forgot to bring shampoo/conditioner so we had to drive to Blowing Rock, about 50 min away. But we really enjoyed exploring Blowing Rock and the drive was scenic, so still fun. Just make sure you pack everything you need! Overall it was one of my favorite rental houses we've ever stayed at and we would absolutely stay again!

My husband and I (plus our dogs) wanted a weekend to getaway, to unplug. What a gorgeous view. It was quiet and peaceful. And we loved it. Our host was friendly and made sure we knew she was available for any concerns.
Would love to stay again. I have already recommended this lovely cabin to friends of mine. Thanks for a wonderful weekend!

My wife and I loved the property and the location. Everything was great with our stay plan on staying there again in the fall.

The cabin was so nice! Great views, very clean, well stocked. It was a bit farther than I realized but that’s on me. We were never able to find the cut through road. We did stop at the “private property” sign and turned around on our way in. I looked at the reviews and saw that we could use that road. It’s a big time saver.

Property was absolutely stunning and booking was smooth and easy. Bed was comfortable which is a priority for us and space was open, clean and views were beautiful. Will definitely visit again ❤️

Our second stay here for my birthday. Beautiful views and amenities. Easy check in and check out. Perfect weekend getaway!

Great property. Had a very relaxing time. Cabin is perfect for couples and the views are fantastic. Hiking trail right out the front door. Cabin was spotless and as described. Would (will) definitely stay again.

First impression of opening the front door is amazing, the cabin was spectacular. From the views to the cozy fireplace everything surpassed my expectations. the only issue i had was the drive up the mountain to get to it, i have a large truck which made some of the narrow turns slightly difficult and more then likely impossible if theres ice or snow so plan accordingly.

We enjoyed this property a lot, we rented it for a quiet get away weekend and it was just what we needed. Instructions were clear and this house was very well equipped. Very quiet and the view was beautiful!

Cozy, airy, great windows, fireplace and hot tub. Would stay again.

Beautiful property! My husband and I wanted a weekend getaway from the Christmas prep and rat race of work. This was great! Just a couple things for those headed here. Yes, it is far from anything so come prepared with food and the things you need for your stay if you don't want a 40 minute drive to the grocery store. We enjoyed an afternoon in Boone on our way up, but I do agree with the recommendation to arrive before dark. The hot tub is nice, but agree it smells a bit musty. The sunsets and the night sky are amazing out on the deck!

This house is absolutely gorgeous. Everything was perfect. I would say that we will be back every year but I can’t handle the roads anymore. This time the mountain roads really bothered my vertigo. I lived in Banner Elk growing up and I wasn’t able to go up Beach Mtn because of it, and now it is back. Other thank that, this cabin is a peace of heaven and I recommend highly.

We stayed in this beautiful property for our honeymoon weekend and had a lovely time. Per the host's recommendation, we brought food with us and cooked in the well appointed kitchen. The hot tub was wonderful and I was in and out of it all weekend! The views were stunning and we were surprised that the fall color was still gorgeous even into mid-November. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We loved this house so much! The views were amazing and the amenities were top notch! The property is very private and tucked away in a nice, gated community. I really enjoyed being away from any town centers or commercial areas as this gave a more authentic mountain retreat feel, but for those more accustomed to convenience, keep in mind the nearest grocery store or gas station is a good 40 min drive away :)

Overall, this was a great place. Two things to note: this is on a mountain with lots of one lane, winding, and steep roads, which can make for spooky driving, and there was little to no cell service at the cabin. So be sure to download the code for the door before you get there!
Otherwise it was a clean, comfortable property with a great view. Decently outfitted kitchen, hot tub was nice but started to smell funky by the end of our stay. Bed was pretty comfy, bathrooms were spacious and water pressure was decent.

This is such a beautiful cabin with amazing views. We had a great weekend getaway for our anniversary. It was incredibly clean and stocked with all the essentials. The pictures do not even do the view justice. Just like other reviews, I highly recommend saving the directions before losing service because there is no service for about 45 minutes once you leave the cabin. Part of the road up to the cabin is very small (one lane) and curvy so I’d also recommend getting there during the daylight. We stopped in wilksboro to get groceries on the way, which was about 45mins from the cabin. The leatherwood community is really cute with a small restaurant that’s open on the weekends. We went to blowing rock one day and rode the blue ridge parkway which was really nice. Fyi, be careful with the gps if you head that way because it took us down Sampson road for over 6 miles and it’s one lane and all dirt!! Very scary if you aren’t familiar with mountain roads. Other than that it was a great trip. We will definitely be back!

The property was just as described and beautiful. Incredibly clean and the views were amazing! The Resort Community was fun with horseback riding, trails, a weekend restaurant and bar. I will say that driving thru the resort to the house was filled with curves and inclines and was very difficult the first night. I would recommend arriving while the sun was out. The property is secluded and 45 minutes from any grocery stores and etc. so bring food for day one. Then enjoy the quiet, hot tub, and amazing views from the deck.

1st) We found bed bugs and wound up with bites on our abdomen and back. Non negotiable. Just awful!!
2nd) the cabin is very far from the entrance unless you drive through a private drive to the immediate right. If you decide to not cut through the neighbor’s private drive, it’s a hike!
3)you are 45 minutes from any grocery store so prepare, prepare, prepare!
4) great view! The pics are accurate.

We picked this house because the pictures showed great views from inside & outside the house. It was a lovely place for the weekend for just the 2 of us. The window seat was a great place to watch a thunderstorm.
The house is definitely up the mountain, but roads in Leatherwood are paved.
Easy communication the host, too.
Definitely recommend!

My wife and decided last minute to stay here for a long weekend. The cabin is everything shown on the pictures. Elegant yet rustic. The views are perfect and the large windows throughout make the experience so much better. We went to blowing rock one day which was about a 45 min drive. Definitely recommend driving there. We will definitely be back.

It was everything I dreamed and hoped it would be. 5 stars. Wonderful and clean accommodations. The view is exactly what we hoped for. We enjoyed a kid free weekend in solitude looking at the beautiful mountains and enjoyed the hot tub. Joy is a wonderful host. We will be back again.

After a communication issues with the owner at the beginning the rest of the trip went smoothly. This is a great location if you are looking for a very quiet and remote getaway. The cabin was neat and clean. The kitchen was stocked well to make meals. The fridge is small but held everything we needed for the 5 days we were there. Boone and Blowing Rock are worth the drive to visit. If you have a chance check out the Old Barn Winery. Great place and you can bring your own snacks.
We had a very relaxing 5 days and would definitely come again.
You definitely need to be comfortable with driving on mountain roads and would also suggest arriving during daylight.

Just as beautiful as our first visit. Would stay again in this lovely and luxurious home. Felt recharged and refreshed!

This is the second time my husband and I have stayed at this cabin because we absolutely love the secluded location and privacy. It’s perfect to just get away from day to day life. The cabin is very clean and provides a Keurig stocked with coffee pods, a half-size fridge & freezer, a cozy fireplace with wood, and the best part is the view. I’m leaving 4-stars because there were a few things that should be better maintained for the nightly price (I have shared these with Joy, and she was appreciative/open to the feedback). Joy is quick to respond and shared clear instructions for check in/check out. This cabin is located near Boone and Blowing rock which are great places to hike and explore. We absolutely love staying here!

We absolutely loved our stay at Joy's place. It was as beautiful as I expected and we enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub with a beautiful view. I'll second other reviews that be sure to bring in groceries, put in the directions before you lose service, and write down all codes. Also, coming up while it's still light out is best as the roads coming in are quite dark. We had ample room for our groceries in the under counter fridge, and didn't mind stopping to pick things up on our trips into town. Just took a little more planning and foresight, as you do when staying out in rural mountain areas, but it's worth it for the peace and quiet. We look forward to staying here again!

Overall, our stay was pleasant and I'd give it 4.5 stars. The house was very clean and more spacious than I thought. The kitchen was stocked well enough for us and the house had some extras that were nice (e.g., robes, outside hooks for hot tub towels, boxes of tissues, plenty of hangers). The bed was very comfortable and the number of windows were great for when you were inside and wanted a nice view.
Fridge: We were concerned after reading reviews of the size of the fridge so we brought a couple of coolers and ice. We did not need them. The fridge was a half fridge (not one of those dorm room ones) and we were able to fit what we needed in it. There was also a half-freezer as well, also great. I'd say that if you are bringing a ton of food and drinks a second cooler may be a nice-to-have, but for us, spending three nights there, it wasn't an issue whatsoever.
The only downside to the trip was the hot tub. It had a bit of an "off" smell to it, but nothing too too bad. After the second day, the water color continued to cloud. We did not use it on the third day. After texting Joy, she informed us it was serviced "a couple of weeks ago." Hot tubs should be serviced once per week. It was disappointing to pay for something we could not fully enjoy, as it was a requirement for booking a place for our trip.
Overall, great trip and we would definitely stay at the house again.

There were some discrepancies upon check in. We contacted the owner who we felt was rude and uncooperative. She never replied back to us or attempted to solve our problems. We are very disappointed because we used to stay at this place under previous ownership and never had any issues/concerns. It seems like it is not the same ( not good under new ownership). For example, when we arrived we discovered a lot of black mold in the refrigerator ( so much that we did not use it at all, no drip coffee pot, like the owner said ( when I email her before arrival), very minimal kitchen utensils, the cleanliness of the house was not good ( we had red colored sticky substance on cabinet draws), several light bulbs were burned out, cupboard door ready to fall of, knob on the cook top broken, the outdoor trash can is broken and missing pieces. The owner, Joy, is in the wrong business. We will not be staying here again!!!
4.9
We had a few hiccups during our stay, but Joy addressed each one and we still had a wonderful time. I will say that when staying for an extended time it was difficult having only an under counter fridge for our perishables. Other than that it was very well appointed. A plus that I don't remember seeing in the listing is that it is wheelchair accessable with no stairs, large doorways, and a shower with no threshold. You don't see that often in a house high up in the mountains. We look forward to staying there again!
4.9
This is a unique property that is exactly as advertised. My wife and I stayed 3 nights with our older, arthritic pup. We wanted remote, peaceful, beautiful, and special. And we found it. It was immaculately clean. There is a picturesque, level walking trail for our old bones beside the creek that runs parallel to Meadow Drive. I agree with the guildance of others to come well-provisioned. We were thankful to have brought such things as baggies, paper towels, skewers, and olive oil. We will certainly consider returning!
4.9
An amazing option to escape up into the mountains. The views from this cabin will mesmerize you from the deck, the hot tub, and the multitude of windows that bring in so much natural light. Such a comfy house that has everything you need to relax. Then, to have access to the 50 miles of trails inside the Leatherwood resort was just a sweet bonus for us as avid hikers. Joy was a great host and was readily available should we have a question. Highly recommended and hope to return someday soon.

This cabin was a perfect getaway from the city. Make sure to screenshot/write down your check-in information because once you get within 15 minutes of the property, you won't have any service until you connect with the wifi. The host was very quick in her responses (through pre-booking, questions prior to arrival, and even in calling her shortly before check-in). It's a beautiful home, completely secluded from everyone. Kitchen was adequately stocked with everything for us to cook our dinners in, and the hot tub was amazing. The view is truly unbeatable. We expect to be back!

This cabin is beautiful! Views were amazing. The perfect place for our weekend getaway.
Joy was a wonderful hostess. Prompt with communication and very helpful.
4.9
Fabulous private property that feels like a tree house. Very private getaway for couples. Hiking, mountain bike, and horse trails right outside your front door. Property is kept very clean and hostess Joy is super nice. Very comfortable bed, and large bathroom with walk in shower and jacuzzi tub. You can watch the sun set from the tub with a beverage, or the stars from the hot tub. It is really a relaxing place to stay. Wood burning fireplace and a reading nook that is hard to beat. Our second time here, and we will come back as often
as we can.
4.9
Great response time from the hostess, everything was neat and clean, and the area was amazing!
4.9
This is our second time here and it's become our happy place when we want to be in a secluded and scenic location. The architecture of the cabin is stunning. Lots of wood and pine, with high ceilings, large window but with a more modern look than some of the 'frontier' decor you see in other cabins.
The bed is super comfy, the hot tub even in December is warm and clean. Great fireplace. The kitchen has everything you need to cook any meal you want.
Joy is a great hostess and responds quickly to any questions.
You won't go wrong with this place No, I don't own it but would love to!

This cabin is well designed, beautiful and modern. One of the prettiest that we've stayed in. We enjoyed the mountain views, hot tub, jacuzzi bath tub, fireplace. There were nice touches with wood already brought in for us and 2 benches for luggage for each person. It was secluded and quiet. The only negative is the drive to and from Blowing Rock which took closer to 45 minutes. We would not recommend the restaurant at the bottom of the entrance. Would highly recommend this cabin if you want a nice peaceful weekend away! Just bring your own food in order to relax. A helpful suggestion would be to have little body soaps for guests.
4.9
This is the perfect place to get a break from everyday busy lives! We loved our stay and plan to come back!
