The house was as stated and we particularly loved the back story of the house and property. The extra tall oak bed #1 was just like I slept on 75 years ago. Bedroom 2 was the exact same pieces as our DIL’s grandparents had. We were really amazed at the fully equipped kitchen. Even though the house has every modern convenience it is like your grandparents, for our family it was a wonderful walk down memory lane. We were able to walk to football stadium and felt safe late at night. The added bonus was an orchard full of apples along with a half dozen deer. And let’s not forget the large barn. PS just a long 2 block walk to a fantastic coffee shop and a few doors down a shop with a large range of organic products, including spices and tea leaves from even the Himalayas. There’s also a fantastic ice cream shop within walking distance hidden away. Thank you for the Apple croissants, perfect for the name of your house.

This house was perfect for our stay in the Asheville area! Mars Hill is a great little town, and you should definitely visit the coffee shop down the road. Every evening we had deer come visit the yard and munch on the apples. And there was a group of squirrels that kept us entertained running up and down the apple trees! The area was quiet and peaceful. Perfectly out of the way from city life but Only a 20 min drive into downtown Asheville!

This was my first VRBO/Evolve/PropertyContact-but-not-the-owner experience, and for that reason I wont be returning to this particular property. The communication just wasn't up to the caliber of other rental experiences. Just too many entities between the actual owners (great info about them and the property in the welcome book BTW) and VRBO - and nobody seemed to know anything or be very engaged. All that being said, it's a super cute property with lots of apple trees and wildlife - bunnies, deer. Great flowering landscaping that attracts bees, butterflies. Really beautiful and quaint spot - and super convenient to all that Mars Hill offers, as well as nearby Weaverville and Asheville. The property is absolutely as-described and filled with original pieces, but could use a comfy recliner in the living room if you're a TV watcher - I'm not. I enjoyed having morning coffee on the porch. Overall, it was comfortable enough for me for 4 nights as I visited with family who live nearby.

This is as close to perfect as it gets! Our son attended Mars Hill for college and we have stayed at many places over the years. This visit was to celebrate his girlfriend graduating. Location was perfect, the cottage is precious, literally looks like a postcard. Sprinkle in the Apple Orchard, deer frolicking (yes frolicking 😊) in the backyard and the fireflies...it was wonderful.
The hosts' communication was clear and my 24 year old son commented these folks have thought of everything! Well done ladies! We thoroughly enjoyed the history and charm of your family's home!

This was the best house. It is like a step back in time. When it says it feels like Gradmas house it really does. Perfect fit for our family. The house is clean and well kept. They gave you plenty of towels and wash clothes. Hooks for hanging your towels. They leave you a snack basket and apple pastries. The beds are comfortable and we loved the outdoor seating. Mara Hill has our heart. We would definitely stay again. Thank you.

I came to Apple of the Hill with my 2 daughters. We found the house to be very homey. It reminded us of our grandparents home. The upgrades were lovely as well. I will definitely recommend your home to my family and friends

We were instantly comfortable in this cozy, yet spacious 'temporary' home. It may remind you of being at your grandmothers, like it did for me. Three adults were not crowded, even with one bath, bc the second vanity/sink was a thoughtful addition. I can't think of one thing we needed that wasn't available. We would definitely consider another stay here.

Great location - close to Asheville, easy walk to downtown Mars Hill, and quick (5 minute drive) to a great hike in Mars Hill. The house was very clean and had all that we needed - even welcome snacks and waters! While we were initially concerned about just having one bathroom with our two adult children, having the additional vanity outside the bathroom made it a non-issue! We loved our time as a guest in this house, and would definitely go back! Highly recommend!

Beautifully renovated 1930's home where the family paid homage to their grandparents. Leaving some of the original walls and ceiling exposed really gives you a glimpse back into the construction of the home. A very nice welcoming letter, treats, a book giving the history of the property, pictures of their grandparents..... you really are in Grandma's kitchen.
The neighborhood is quiet, very little vehicle traffic. The main town is well within walking distance and I photographed deer every morning walking through the property. 25 minutes from Asheville.
This property was in fantastic shape, the linins and towels were top quality. Everything was in working order and the furnishings were some of the originals from their grandparents. Just an excellent stay! They really made sure all the smallest details were addressed. Thank you again, we will be back!!

My family and I had a wonderful time. The house is so comfortable and clean. The yard is beautifully landscaped and maintained. Lots of space for the kids to play outside while we relaxed on the porch. Easy walk to town and a very nice grocery store just a few minutes away. We hope to stay again. Thank you for sharing your family home with us.

We enjoyed staying at the Apple on the Hill. The house was charming and we loved the history of the ownership. Everything was super clean and the house was well equipped with all that we needed. We were able to have a wonderful Easter dinner with our daughter who attends Mars Hill University.

I loved everything about this place. The beautiful yard where the children were able to run and play and chase the fireflies. The deer that came into the yard every evening. The front porch and the back porch all set up to sit outside to eat or just enjoy the weather and the view. The home was so clean and set up so nicely. The beds were comfortable. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. There is nothing that I can complain about and if the opportunity comes up to rent it again, I certainly will and would recommend it to anyone.
Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home!

We enjoyed staying in this quaint bungalow that has been lovingly rehabbed. It had all the necessities we needed for our trip. The decor was charming and the big yard gave us a spacious country feel in town. We enjoyed the front porch and side deck everyday. The extra sink made getting ready in the morning a breeze. Asheville was an easy 25 minute drive and we rode horses up by Marshall. Try the bakery in Weaverville and Stacks in Mars Hill and Taco Billy in Asheville. We loved the location. Traveled with husband and college aged daughter.

This house was perfect for our family getaway. We went for a beautiful hike, toured the campus at Mars Hill University, and attended their Spring show. And the restaurants and shops in the downtown area were precious. The owners of this home went the extra mile, ensuring we had everything we needed. They even left some treats and waters for us. And we especially loved the front porch for our morning coffee. We really couldn’t have asked for anything better. 5 Stars isn’t enough! Thanks so much for helping us make some great family memories.

We stayed here for a week with my wife and 2 young children. The home is charming with a nice backstory. There was a nice gift basket and a welcome card. Everything was very clean and well kept. It’s only about 10 to 20 minutes from the snow lodges like Wolf Ridge.
It’s also 20 minutes from downtown Asheville. I highly recommend it for families because you’re close enough to all of the fun activities, but you stay in a quiet and comfortable place away from the noise and nightmare parking situation in Asheville. The children loved the very spacious backyard, the apple trees are there but it’s winter so we didn’t get to see them with apples or leaves.
We will definitely come back here in the future!

Nice little town and house to see some local attractions if you don't mind a short drive. We chose this house for that reason and glad we did. We had a great experience.

Stayed at this charming house to spend Thanksgiving with our son. A warm and inviting atmosphere with character and charm. Immaculately kept with every amenity we could want for a lovely 4-day stay! We highly recommend if needing to be close to Asheville, but long for the quiet and peaceful area only country living can provide!

This is a cute little cottage in a quiet neighborhood. The area is around the house is ok, not too much going on, some small stores around. The house has most of the things we needed during the stay (couple of missing items were shampoo/conditioner and a dish sponge- but we were able to go to a store to purchase those items).

My family came up for the weekend and we absolutely loved that Mars Hill area! You can really tell the owners love this family owned property and it was great reading about the history of the house. It was very clean and the host thoughtfully left out a snack basket. We would definitely stay there again!

This place was so cute and I loved the history. It was clean and well stocked plus we got a welcome gift of pastries. We could walk to everything in Mars Hill and they had several festivals on campus while we were there. We were 15-30 minutes from some great, family friendly (read easy for kids and those with arthritis) hikes and 15-20 minutes to Asheville which had some great food and museums. The kids loves the place and had fun playing in the yard. Overall, it was wonderful and we plan on returning. Thank you!

As we drove through Mars Hill to find our place we were already thrilled to see how cute this town was and how close it was to Asheville and other surrounding towns. When we found our house we were very pleased from first sight! Two beautiful porches accompanied this house and once we opened the door and walked in we knew that this place was the perfect getaway! Clean, beautifully decorated and equipped with everything we needed! It was so nice to get a welcome note with a sweet treat!! The story of what this house meant to the owners made it a special place to be! Every morning we walked to the coffee shop called Camdens to get a smoothie and more! We ventured out every day to hike, shop and eat out! The towns close by had so much to offer! We recommend this gem in Mars Hill and hope to visit again!

Blissful Apple at the Hill
We had a wonderful time staying in this house and would love to return next summer! The property was beautiful, and the home was clean, cozy, and comfortable. It was the perfect size for the three of us (one adult & two tall teens) and had everything we needed/wanted. Apple at the Hill is a charming home in a peaceful neighborhood/town. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and porch and listening to the birds during the day and the crickets at night. We loved this house and our four nights staying there!

Cozy Retreat
We needed to be in the Mars Hill area for funeral arrangements and attendance so wanted a comfortable place that could provide a private retreat. Originally concerned with there just being one bathroom and six people, but the additional bathroom sink setup in the hallway common area added enough flexibility to make it work. Very cozy, clean and very well appointed.
Host was able to adjust our arrival a day early so also appreciate the extra effort on the customer service.

It was a beautiful house and just perfect for us, 4 adults and one 6 year old.
It was an easy experience from renting to check out. It was a beautiful house, located right in Mars Hill, NC although we thought it was more out of town. However convenience to grocery store and even the locally Brewery were great. And Asheville was an easy drive. We were also able to cook Thanksgiving dinner in the beautiful kitchen!!

Beautiful little bungalow, in the cutest little town. We had the best time. Close to interstate. Loved most everything about it. Only things I'd change is get rid of the sink in bathroom, and leave info for local channels for news and weather.
