Cosy and convenient within walking distance of picturesque Lake Te Anau, this two-bedroom holiday home is steeped in history and equipped with everything you need for your next Southland escape. Welcome to Rustlein Cottage!
Built by the present owner's grandfather in the mid 1940's, Rustlein Cottage was the first prefabricated "crib" in Te Anau. Since then, this family holiday home has been loved and cherished to retain its vintage charm so others can enjoy the unique feeling of stepping back in time without having to miss out on modern day comforts.
Come together after a day of adventure in the welcoming living area, where you can enjoy year-round comfort thanks to the handy heat pump and electric fireplace, and be entertained with complimentary WiFi and the TV with Freeview and DVD player.
A basic, yet fully-equipped kitchen has all the essentials you need for your stay. Pour a hot coffee to kick start your day, or whip up a heart feast to fuel your next in this beautiful town and beyond.
Rustlein Cottage has a wonderful outdoor area which boasts fresh blooms and a large flat and fully fenced lawn; the perfect space for the kids to play.
Two-bedrooms comfortably sleep up to five guests here at Rustlein Cottage, making this an ideal spot for a couples getaway or potentially a family trip, with the additional bedding, to hit the trails and visit Fiordland.
When it’s time to explore the incredible Te Anau surroundings, just a three-minute drive away you'll find the Real Journey's terminal for trips to Milford or Doubtful Sound as well as the Te Anau Glowworm Caves. Or for the brave, jump off the wharf into the lake.
Fancy a bite to eat? Te Anau has an array of local cafes, restaurants, and bars just a 2-minute drive or 11-minute walk from Rustlein Cottage.
If you’re wanting to travel further afield, a six-minute drive will find you at the Kepler Track starting point, or drive two hours to discover the beauty of Milford Sound. Top tip; give yourself three hours for the drive in to leave plenty of time for photo stops!

Apart from a bathroom issue, our first impression of the cottage was good. Had everything we needed and only a short walk to the shops, cafes and lake. A little gem!
