I booked this trip as a family getaway for my husband, his siblings, his mum, myself and our son as hubby was celebrating his 50th birthday. Although hubby, our son and I have travelled to Tassie scores of times over the past 25 years, most of the rest of the group had not been to Tasmania so there was a lot of pressure on me to have picked a property that suited everyone from 16 to 80 years of age! Well, we could have not been happier with our choice. It was the most cosy, well presented cottage with amazing views and literally footsteps from the main street shops and a great pub (with Gin tasting room) immediately across the street. Even though we visited during a heatwave, the nights were cool enough to have the fire pit going so we could sit outside and enjoy the stars. The bonus was the group of girls at the house immediately next door were also celebrating a 50th birthday so we chatted and shared cake & candles! The beds were super comfy (& I'm fussy), the rooms tastefully decorated and the linen top notch! Crisp white sheets and fluffy Sheridan towels! Plus there was just the most amazing cottage garden (we are a family of gardeners) full of succulents, the most beautiful geraniums and tomatoes for our breakfast. Only things to note with a bigger party; there is only 1 shower so just be organised with timing (another loo available so no issue there) and the dining room is too tight for 8, but we spent our time outside on the deck anyway. Still10/10!

Stunning position by the water, close to shops, pub & delightful restaurant. Interesting decorative touches in the rooms, though drawers rather than artificial palm tree in main bedroom would be more practical.

We visited the area for a family wedding and had the most beautiful stay in Georgetown. The house is in the perfect location to shops and we enjoyed the bikes on offer to explore the area. The beds were so comfortable and the house was great for our family group. Janmaree was a great host and always on hand to answer questions and offer local tips!

This house was perfect. Great house, location and gardens. The deck overlooked the grasslands and water. So relaxing. The bed were comfortable which is not always the case. Janmaree was so helpful with everything including what to do on the way to the house. I highly recommend this house. Great value.

What a gorgeous cottage right on the river. Plenty of room for our group of 6 adults. Very comfortable with lots of thoughtful touches. Janmaree is very helpful with great tips on where to go and where to eat. We would definitely come back to York Cottage.

Loved being able to see the boats on the water, close to everything. Had dinner at the pier hotel, right across from the house. The house itself had a good feel to it, with each room having something different to it almost quirky. Host was great with communication and happy to help with any queries or to give a recommendation.

When we first walked into this beautiful house we were amazed as to how beautifully decorated it was! Everything that we could wish for was there, the 3 main bedrooms that we slept in was super duper comfortable and we loved all the finishing touches. We pretty much lived out on the deck as the views were amazing and it was so peaceful and serene. Our host was absolutely exceptional with his communication, particularly when answering all of my questions!! It was just what we needed, a relaxing getaway in beautiful surroundings. Thank you!

Lovely spacious house and garden, really well appointed, on the water in Georgetown. It’s often difficult to find 4 bedroom houses that can accommodate 5 adults and this one was just great. Low Head and other beaches close by. Our host was really helpful too

What a delightful property. Such a stunningly kept and restored historic home, with every modern touch you could ask for, mixed with cleverly applied eclectic touches all over. None of that does justice to the location and just how special the deck and fire pit are to congregate around, looking across the magnificent Tamar. Thank you to Janmaree for looking after us for our last minute decision. Next time it will be for much longer and better planned on our part… though with such a convenient location and everything at your fingertips, well… a little spontaneity can probably be forgiven.

Amazing transformation for an old house. Fabulous beds. The treat in the freezer was unexpected but appreciated. Location, location , location! Another lounge in the sitting room would mean we could all sit in comfort rather than be on bar stools

Fabulous little cottage with very comfortable beds (main has a king bed so gotta love that). Great location with amazing views over the Tamar River. Just a few minutes drive from Low Head and their fabulous beaches. Great new bike track nearby for the bike enthusiast and not forgetting the nearby wineries. This lovey historic cottage is the perfect place to position yourself as your explore the very lovely region of Georgetown. Great communication with Jannelle (host) who was quick to respond to any issues or queries. Clean as a pin too, and I'm a clean freak. Thanks for a great week in your lovely cottage.

One of the best holiday houses I have stayed in. Thoughtfully set up with everything you need. Furnishings and linen were classy. Cottage garden was beautiful and the deck area was a great place for afternoon drinks looking over the water. Top location, we could walk to the jetty, pub and supermarket. Host made every effort to make us feel welcome, from the bottle of champagne to the helpful information. Will definitely return as soon as we can. Love this place.

York Cove Cottage was truly stunning, every morning we ate breakfast on the deck and looked out onto the water. The fireworks on New Years were spectacular and just off pontoon close to the house. The kids loved being able to swim right out front and thought Bob (the bird) was quite entertaining. Our host was wonderful and communicated well and gave us lots of tips on local attractions. Would highly recommend this wonderful place.
