About this cottage rental
Pull up on the drive of Rock Lobster, and you are immediately struck by how much you start to hear the world differently. Simple sounds all the more audible, somehow—the crunch of the gravel under tyre; on any given day, the North Sea lisping, washing or crashing against the stubborn volcanic rocks. The wind whistling a breezy sea shanty or carrying with it the billowing of Norse gods. One thing, however, remains constant: the utter calm and mesmerising tranquillity of Rock Lobster. Step through the slate blue front door, and the combination of space, light and quality fixtures and fittings instantly say that you're going to enjoy this break. The sense of openness is soothing and rejuvenating.
Rock Lobster's open plan kitchen/diner/living room dispenses with blinds or window dressings to take full advantage of the superb views out to sea. The elegant kitchen, with its cool blue hues and dining area, is the perfect place to watch the sunrise. An oven and warming drawer, induction hob, two dishwashers, American-style stainless steel fridge/freezer, and microwave makes feeding eight guests a breeze. A dining table to accommodate your whole party is a sociable way to start or end the day. The lounge area with its large comfy sofa and armchairs comes with a wall-mounted TV, electric wood burner-style stove, and patio doors to the front of the property. There's also a handy utility room with washing machine and condenser tumble drier, and a cloakroom with WC and basin.
Two of the four bedrooms are on the ground floor. One with a double bed and ensuite shower room and WC. The other that can be made up as either a super-king or twin beds and a bathroom that also has a walk-in shower, and WC. It's been said that nearby Dunstanburgh Castle was built to resemble and outshine the castles built in Wales. And it's from Wales that Rock Lobster borrows too, with Melin Tregwynt Welsh woollen blankets and throws adorning all the beds; simple in spirit, satisfying in quality and timeless in design.
The main lounge occupies the house's prime spot on the first floor. There are enticing, comfy sofas and a smart TV, although the bifold doors to the balcony with stunning sea views will probably mean you'll watch less TV than ever. Don't be surprised if you're rewarded with the sight of dolphins dancing.
There are another two bedrooms on the first floor, each with a king-size bed, ensuite shower room and WC, although a shrewd guest will work out which one has the Juliet balcony with stunning views and bagsy that one first.
With central and underfloor heating, all power, linen and towels taken care of, you're free to kick back and plan your Northumberland adventures. The world's your oyster. Or is that lobster?
Full-length doors lead out to the patio area with its tasteful wooden table and chairs—it is many a guest's favourite spot. The secure wrap around lawn is as simple and well-kept as the house.
The converted garage is now a games room with table tennis, table football, sofas, separate shower room, WC and basin—handy if the North Sea winds bring with them inclement weather.
There's parking on the drive for up to four cars.
Within walking distance of Rock Lobster is a brilliant children's playground, Jolly Fisherman pub, The Shoreline Cafe, Mick Oxley Art Studio as well as the famous tiny horseshoe harbour and L Robson & Sons for your legendary Craster Kippers (not to be missed).

Rock Lobster is a perfect place. It has everything you would wish to have in a holiday place. It is very comfortable, you can be preparing a meal and still chat with everyone. All the bedrooms and ensuites are tastefully furnished.
The games room (garage) is great for the children.
To cap it off the views are amazing.

Rock Lobster is a beautiful house set in a lovely location with spectacular sea views. It felt very homely for our week’s stay. It was fully equipped and very clean and comfortable.

3 generations of our family stayed for a week at Rock Lobster in July.
The house was amazing and the views out to sea just spectacular. Everything was lovely and clean and the house well equipped with everything you could need! (And the 2 dishwashers a game changer- definitely stealing that idea for any future kitchen planning)
We really made some wonderful memories, sitting on the balcony watching the dolphins and the seabirds and gorgeous walks from the back gate… definitely take some binoculars with you for your stay.
Craster itself was well placed for day trips anywhere and had a great playground for the children.
We’ll certainly be back for a return stay

Rock lobster is an amazing property in a prime area of Craster. Perfect for exploring the treasures of Northumberland as well as watching dolphins from the balcony (we saw 30+ in our stay !!!) and local fishermen catching crabs and lobsters. The property is spotlessly clean and very well equipped with brilliant spaces for relaxing and eating. We had a fantastic time and I’d wholly recommend it.

An excellent property which has absolutely everything you need. Beautifully designed in every detail. The views are amazing from the upstairs lounge. The open plan kitchen is perfect.

We had the most wonderful holiday in this fantastic house. The house is so well designed, all new and with every amenity you could wish for as a guest. We were a party of seven adults and the availability of plenty of bathrooms and comfortable bedrooms was ideal. The sitting rooms provided fabulous views over the sea for sunrises and dolphin/porpoise spotting.
The kitchen was the best equipped of any house we have ever stayed in - even having two dishwashers....what luxury! Plenty of big pots and pans to cater for many hungry adults along with copious amounts of cutlery, crockery and glassware so you never run out.
The location of the cottage is ideal, especially being on a small private road. It is very quiet. Having the coast path pass right next to the garden means you can access great walks right from the house. Likewise there is easy access to sights all over Northumberland.
We loved our holiday here and the staff at Catch the Breeze were friendly and great with their communication. Don't miss a chance to stay here if you can - highly recommended!

Rock Lobster is a beautiful property with fabulous uninterrupted views out to the North Sea. The two lounges are excellent of 8 guests as there is plenty of room to relax and spread out. The views from the upstairs lounge are breathtaking. The chairs are nice and comfy, as too are the sofas, although a little too low for some. Bedrooms are not huge but comfy enough and have a good amount of storage. Bathrooms are warm and inviting. The kitchen is quite compact for 8 adults and one standard oven and hob can be a bit of a challenge but 2 dishwashers was a real treat!
Lovely walks right from the doorstep and the sound of the waves and the sea and night is hypnotic!
All in all a lovely place to stay.

Our walking group stayed for 3 nights. The house location and facilities are excellent and access to the coastal path is through the garden gate Both the local pubs do excellent food and at the house it was easy to cater for our large party. We managed use the twin dish washers. !!

The comfiest beds you will ever find. Sitting up in be with a cup of tea watching the waves was so beautiful we had to drag ourselves outside. Beautiful furnishings and everything you could need in terms of kitchen equipment. While the waves crashed outside during the storm one night we could not have been cosier. Rock lobster is very special indeed.

We stayed at Rock Lobster for 4 nights, I did not want to leave. It’s a fabulous very well equipped house, everything is top quality and thought about. The views and location are just perfect - even on a stormy day. I can’t wait to return.

We stayed here on a cold but clear winters weekend. The location is stunning, with direct view of the sea and awesome sunrise. We loved the sound of the sea and waves crashing as we were cosied up inside.
The house is perfect, lots of space so you aren't on top of each other. Each of the 4 bedrooms has en suite and the home has everything you could think of for your stay. The games room in the garage is a great surprise with table tennis and table football.
Craster is a great location for the Northumberland coast. We took nice short trips to Bamburgh beach, Alnwick and walked to Dunstanburgh castle. There is one pub in Craster, so cosy and great food. If you like your fish and chips, go to the Fish Shack in Amble, you won't be disappointed with this quirky place.

Perfect spot whatever the weather! We love it here. The games room and in particular the ping pong table is a great feature and we spent many happy hours in there. So lovely having family time away from Xboxes and technology for a weekend!
Loved being so close to the sea and the house has everything you need !
Visited Alnwick Gardens and Bamburgh Castle both of which I would highly recommend.
The Christmas tree being up was a nice surprise and the icing on the cake of this special weekend.

This property was fantastic, excellent location overlooking the sea. Perfect for 4 couples as each bedroom has its own en-suite/bathroom. Welcome basket of bread, jam, tea, coffee, butter and milk was nice touch. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thank you

Great location for this beautiful modern home. It has everything you need and more. The house has two leaks when we arrived from storm babet one in living area and one in kitchen but we were for warned by the owners. Heating was a little excessive, coming on at all hours but soon managed to figure it out. Beds were not the comfiest with all members of the party complaining. Plenty of parking. All amenities and utilities on hand. Close to Northumberland attractions.

A fabulous house in an amazing location overlooking the sea with daily dolphins each morning . Very modern with a great open plan design which allowed us to sit upstairs and enjoy the views or sit and chat downstairs whilst cooking in the very well equipped kitchen . Nice to have 4 ensuite bedrooms so we all had our own space to retire to. The garden is huge and the games room a great surprise especially as the weather wasn't good for us for the first few days. Lovely walks from the house and within easy reach by car to Alnwick and its many supermarkets. Rock Lobster is definitely one of our favourite rentals , home from home.

Comfortable house in a fantastic location. Fully equipped kitchen and 2 generous living areas.
Bedrooms on the small side, but bathrooms make up for that.

Fabulous place wonderful views. Only downside was the 2 sofas in the upstairs lounge were very low to the floor and made it difficult to get up from.

A fantastic property in fantastic position. Just wish the dolphins were programmed to appear as we only saw them twice. My daughter is here from the USA and widely travelled and she loved the house and area. The house is Very well equipped and the information provided beforehand outstanding. Thank you for a memorable holiday.

Another wonderful week here with extended family. It’s a lovely bright, clean and very well equipped property, in a wonderful location by the sea. Always great to spot the dolphins (or are they porpoises?) Lovely area for walks, bike rides, picnics, kayaking and messing about on the beaches/harbour and rock pools. Great local pub and cafes and of course Craster kipper shop. Nice new local farm/grocery shop/post office in Embleton also deserves a mention. We’ll be back!

The noise of the waves hitting the shore and the regular sightings of dolphins will live on with us all for a very long time
And the time spent with the balcony doors wide open staring at the view made us feel we could be transported to anywhere in the world that our imagination wanted to go!! Totally Immersive experiance
Magical

Second stay at this superb location. Blessed by the best weather Northumberland has experienced in a long time. Just love the sound of the waves breaking on the rocky shore and the numerous sightings of dolphins during the week. What more can you want…idyllic!

A stunning property in a fantastic location. The facilities in the property are absolutely first class and the decor and furnishing offer everything for a relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable stay, with a view like no other and ever changing.
There is so much to do in the area and so much to see from historic towns and castles to the magnificent bird life and sea mammal life! Yes! Dolphins pass by at breakfast and again at dinner, on most days.
When you arrive at Rock Lobster, the scene is set for an assault on the senses, and the house itself sets the standard at the highest level. You will not be disappointed!
Our stay at Rock Lobster was 'splendid" to say the least. We can't wait to return.

Our second visit to Rock Lobster. This time to celebrate a friend’s ‘special’ birthday. Such a beautiful location and house. Spacious and all you need for a relaxing holiday. You just have to watch your head in the bedrooms/ en-suites in the roof space! We will be back !

We had a great week and the property was amazing. Everyone was so pleased with how it was equipped and what was provided eg dishwasher tablets, bread etc.
The only piece of constructive feedback is the parking. For the size of property and plot parking 4 cars and getting in and out of the drive was awkward.

We walked by this house many months ago when in Craster and took the name of the holiday let company. We booked with 8 of our friends for 3 nights and to be honest everything was pretty much perfect other than we would have preferred 4 double rooms rather than 1 twin. I understand however that this is being changed to a double next year and may actually suit some people.
It is a beautiful scenic spot whatever the weather and very cosy and warm. The kitchen has everything you need so that you just need to bring your washbag, shampoo and shower gel.
Thoroughly recommend it

Really well appointed house. Elegant but very comfortable. Just loved it. One of the best houses I’ve ever stayed in. A nice welcome pack, just right. I would definitely return. Good walks. Great pub in easy walking distance. And a view to keep a huge smile on anybody’s face.
I bought a Mick Oxley painting and received a 10% reduction as I had stayed in a Catch The Breeze property. This was a welcome surprise.

Stunning house with amazing views. Extremely well equipped in comparison to other properties I’ve rented. Beds super comfy. Would highly recommend.

We have just returned from a wonderful break in Craster. Rock Lobster was an ideal base for exploring all that Northumberland offers. The property was spotlessly clean and so well equipped. The views from the kitchen and living room were amazing - especially at sunrise/sunset. We will definitely return at some point in the near future.

We have stayed in Craster regularly over many years and at Rock Lobster more recently. Rock Lobster is located in a premier position overlooking the sea. The accommodation is outstanding in every respect and we would have no hesitation in recommending it as an excellent property in which to base a holiday in Northumberland.

Lovely property with fantastic view. Very well equipped.
Bedrooms comfortable and bathrooms all good quality.
Settees are not the most comfortable and it would have been nice if towels had been changed mid week, but that’s are small points..
The property was ideal for our break.

Rock Lobster is a fantastic house. We were a 3 generation family and we all enjoyed everything that the house had to offer. Above everything, we thought the location was amazing. It is so close to the sea and we even saw dolphins swim by!

Our stay at Rock Lobster was the best family holiday we've ever had.
The house was immaculately clean and exceptionally well equipped in every possible respect; small details like a generous amount of crockery, cutlery and towels made life easier and more comfortable. The quality of the furnishings made this fabulous beach house feel far more like a home from home than just a holiday let.
The huge garden, overlooking the beautiful Northumbrian coast, was a tremendous bonus for our children to play in and for us all to enjoy meals on the patio, watching the dolphins.
The games room was also a real bonus feature: Our little ones loved playing table tennis and table football - there was barely any screen time all week!
One very minor maintenance issue was resolved within hours and with zero fuss or inconvenience to ourselves, and the communication around this issue was exemplary.

Rock Lobster, Craster
This is possibly the best self catering accommodation I have ever stayed in, in the UK. It was hired for a belated special birthday celebration. The guests I invited were taken aback by the property and it’s stunning location. For me the wild location, the uninterrupted view out to sea and the sound of the crashing waves was all that was needed. Absolutely first class.

A stunning house in a stunning location
This is a remarkably well equipped home, immaculate condition and spotlessly clean. The views were superb, and we loved the sound of the waves, and waking up to such an incredible view. We've never actually baked on holiday before, but we whipped up a pavlova from scratch- the kitchen equipment is something else!
Thank you so much for making our holiday sp perfect.
