Winter at Hickory Cabin offers the cold weather enthusiast a host of activities. Snow begins to fall typically in mid-November through mid-March in the Poconos. The Hickory cabin itself is located at a 1200 ft. elevation making for spectacular winter views outside each guest room window while you can remain warm and cozy inside your individually thermostatic controlled room with a fireplace. The Pocono region features three downhill ski resorts; Jack Frost, Big Boulder, and Camelback. Both Hickory Run State Park and Lehigh Valley Gorge State Park offer endless miles of trails for cross-country skiing and snow-shoe hiking.
Winter is also a time to enjoy the state parks. Most trails are open for hiking, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing. Some trails in the State game-lands and State Parks that surround the Inn at Hickory Run allow snowmobiling. Please feel free to ask us about the location of trails and appropriate requirements for use. There are a host of winter activities not far from the Inn that makes for a fun stay.
Spring
Spring at Hickory Cabin brings streams full of snowmelt. It is the perfect time for white-water kayaking, rafting, and the start of the fishing season. The Francis E. Walter Dam releases water to the Lehigh River on a regular basis throughout the spring and summer months delivering water flow for Class 2 and 3 whitewater. Several outfitters are available in White Haven for the run down to Jim Thorpe. Located less than four miles from the Lehigh River in White Haven, guests can enjoy a hearty breakfast before a half or whole-day 30-mile white water adventure to Jim Thorpe or Glen Onoko. Several outfitters are available in White Haven for the run down to Jim Thorpe.
Golf courses begin another season of enjoyment, the bike trails are ready, and there are endless miles of back roads to enjoy motorcycling.
Fishing season begins in April with river fly-fishing, small stream bait fishing, as well as lake fishing in state game lands and in the park.
Summer
Summer at the Hickory cabin offers plenty of recreation. The days are warm, the nights are cool, and the humidity is low. It is the best time of the year for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, golfing, and touring the historical sites of the Pocono region.
The Pocono Raceway heats up in June with the annual Pocono NASCAR Race. The Inn at Hickory Run is also a partner with Stock Car Racing Experience at Pocono Raceway. The race track is only a couple of miles away from the Inn. Book your reservations early to ensure the room and days are preferred Summer is also a time to explore the history of the Poconos including Eckley's Miners Village, Jim Thorpe, and Lehigh River canals and railroads. Let us know your interests beforehand and we will help you plan an exciting excursion day! The region offers a host of wineries. The wineries offer a wide range of local vintages and in most cases, you can enjoy a meal with your wine tasting experience while enjoying breathtaking views of the Pocono mountains.
Fall
Fall is by far the most colorful season at the Inn. Beginning in mid-September, the birch, maple, oak, cherry, and other hardwoods turn the region into a splendid display of foliage colors. The scenery while hiking the trails of Hickory Run and Lehigh Gorge State Parks is spectacular. The Audubon Society's car touring route passes right in front of the Hickory Cabin if you like to drive, or you can simply enjoy one of the area's many fall foliage festivals.
Fall is also the best season for biking the Lehigh Gorge Trail. The trail can be accessed near the Inn and runs for more than 25 miles down to Jim Thorpe. Many of our guests enjoy a breakfast with us, ride down to Jim Thorpe for lunch, and return to the Inn for an enjoyable evening at one of many local restaurants.
Golf courses remain open until early November. Fall is also a time to get one last kayak run on the Lehigh River or to catch the native trout that have eluded spring and summer anglers.
Nights are definitely cool, but you will enjoy relaxing next to one of our outdoor fireplaces near our waterfall. Enjoy an evening outside under the stars; there are no city lights here to obstruct your view
.
The outdoor swimming pool opens on Memorial Day Weekend and closes on Labor Day, if the weather permits we keep it open till the first week of October. Swimming pool temperature stay in mid 70s in cold weather. Heater can not warm the temperature to 80 because we have a huge pool.
The hot tub is open throughout the year except for extreme weather conditions in the winter. The heating element cannot keep up if the weather gets below 24 degrees.

We very much enjoyed our stay in this large house with many included features and activities (table tennis, billiards, hot tub, sauna, great TVs, etc.) The only downside of a house with so many features, is the amount of maintenance required to keep it all in top shape. The lower floors had a musty smell, some of the pool features didn’t work or stopped working 5 min. after they were fixed, the light bulbs color temperatures didn’t always match, and some parts of the house trim and deck need some repair. However, these are minor complaints that can be fixed by adding some dehumidifiers and doing end of season maintenance. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay.
4.8
The good - the house was clean upon our arrival and the kitchen quite functional. We enjoyed the fire-pit and the sauna.
The bad -
1. The TV’s in two of the bedrooms did not work - one lacked a remote.
2. The ceiling lights were out in two of the bathrooms.
3. We had no hot water for three days until the maintenance man arrived on Tuesday afternoon to turn up the water heater.
4. The hot tub was unusable upon our arrival - the water was nasty and the heating element would not turn on. This was not addressed until the maintenance man came on Tuesday (we were told on Sunday that he would come on Monday, but he didn’t and a second call had to be made to the owner).
5. The pool - upon our arrival the water feed for the slide was not working and, again, was not fixed until the maintenance man came on Tuesday. By Thursday the water in the pool was becoming quite murky (? Algae), and, therefore, the pool was unusable for the last two days of our visit. The owner came on Thursday afternoon and put a robotic cleaner in the pool, however, it stopped working and had to be restarted by the maintenance man on Friday.
6. The pool table in the game room is nice, but there is only one usable cue stick; the tips are broken on all the rest. The foosball table sits broken in the garage.
7. The basketball backboard is broken.
8. The gas grill was not working fully.
In summary, this is a property with lots of potential that falls far short of the mark due to neglected maintenance.

Basement had very musty odor. The upstairs appeared to have only one thermostat in the master bedroom. We were unable to adjust the temperature. It was just too cold. Pool is great, much to do with in 30-40 minute drive. Jack Frost Golf course excellent.
4.8
We had a great time. There were some things that could use updating or directions on how to use. There was plenty of room for everyone and we didn’t feel crowded (19 people). The biggest hit was the pool and water slide. We also enjoyed the fire pit and seeing deer and frogs.
4.8
Thank you for the use of this wonderful house! We were so excited to find a location that could accommodate 28 people. The kitchen was well-stocked with dishes and spices, every bedroom had its own bathroom (score!), and there were lots of activities to stay busy (pool table, arcade games, ping pong, movie theater). The pool was a highlight of our week and we spent many days enjoying it as we were there in July. The pool was clean and well-stocked with toys. The movie theater was another highlight…what a great feature! The popcorn machine was missing, but when I informed Alex, he had one mailed within two days. I only interacted with Alex, but he was prompt with his responses to all questions and concerns we had.
I am giving a 4 star rating instead of a 5 star rating because there were some things that came up that we didn’t want to have to think about while on vacation, like a couple of light bulbs not working, a bathtub faucet not working, the water dispenser not working on the refrigerator (although when I informed Alex of this, he sent over five cases of water and a case of ginger ale the next day), the hot tub needing to be re-filled twice during the week (even though we only used it twice), and the thermostat needing to be re-set one night.
4.8
This rental could be a 5 star vacation spot but there are key issues: hot tub does not work (one side doesn't work, water doesn't get hot), water slide in pool does not have working water feed, dryer has gas turned off that we turned on and off when using (we weren't told gas was turned off, not sure why it was). Oak room shower head needs replaced and main light in bathroom needs replaced. Front door knob needs replaced (had to keep door locked to keep it closed). There was a terrible smell in laundry room that we had to air out. The basketball game had no batteries (we replaced).
4.8
House was clean and huge. Plenty of space for all. Loved the individual rooms with private bathrooms, thermostats, fireplaces and tvs. Great community space, huge master, additional bedrooms. Loved the theater, game room and pool area.
Some things that need attention or different that advertised:
Outside hot tub had only half the jets working
Pool slide not giving enough water
No working house speakers, small radio in kitchen tho
No popcorn machine in theater
No laundry soap provided
No remote for Maple room TV
Maple room tub had no water when faucet was on?
Oak/Maple light in bathroom need new bulbs
Cherry tub button was stuck on and started running in middle of night
Master tub control panel not working
Main living area fireplace wouldn't turn on with the timer.
These did not ruin our vacation but would have made it better if things like the tubs in particular were working. We did reach out about a few of the items on the first day and got some answers but it was just too much to keep messing about in the moment. Had an issue with grease from the stove leaking into the basement causing a slip hazard that was addressed that day. Cleaning crew were still working when we arrived even though it was after check in time. A bag of garbage was left by the front door when they left. The towels on the beds, while nice and thick were damp when we arrived. Need more towels and blankets for all beds *even futons if house can sleep 32.

I hosted my daughters Bachelorette weekend here.. All 17 of us had an amazing time.. so many bedrooms with baths that it made it extra comfortable for my quests…
The pool, game room & hot tub were a big hit… Having a large table to fit everyone comfortably was a big plus since we had bachelorette dinners, lunches & brunches planned… The kitchen had everything we needed too..
I found everything to be clean, spacious & in order.. i highly recommend.

I would have given this a 4.5 if that was a choice. Only issues were minor so not perfect but very close. Inside the house was very clean with everything we needed. Size and amenities were as reported or better. Definitely perfect house for a family get together with lots to do.
4.8
The property was perfect for a weekend away with a large group of friends. The sauna was HUGE and a highlight of the weekend, and the rooms were comfortable and fit 25 of us well. Check-in and check-out process was easy, and there was plenty of room for multiple cars.
Overall very happy with the property!!

It’s our second time in this house. Overall it was good . Some stiff need to fixed and the house was not perfectly clean as it was on our first time

Loved this house. We planned a little weekend getaway with some friends to celebrate our 40th. There was plenty of room for 7 couples. We all had king or queen beds and more than enough room to spread out when we wanted. The large open kitchen was well equipped so we could all be together for meals. The sauna was amazing. The house was clean and the manager was easy to get in touch with for any questions we had durning our stay.
4.8
It was an amazing experience to celebrate our mothers birthday all together in this beautiful home!!!
We will be back!!!
4.8
I was here with 16 of my friends and it was more a reunion and birthday party. The house was very clean and spacious. There are enough bedrooms and bathrooms so everyone can have their own space. And the basement/movie theater/hot tub were great places to hang out and have a great time with friends. I would definitely like to come back again in the Summer when the pool is open! Highly recommend!
4.8
When we arrived to our rental unit the cleaning lady was not fully finished cleaning the home, despite the fact that the owner approved our early check-in. Cleaning supplies were left out, bathrooms were not fully cleaned and the laundry was pouring out of the machines upstairs. The house itself is gorgeous — the pool is incredible, the game room and theater rooms are amazing. The kitchen was fully stocked and the hot tub and sauna were amazing. It would have been the perfect moms getaway weekend if not for the supposed “noise complaints.” We heard from the home owner on 2 separate occasions that the neighbors were complaining about noise levels — once at 8:30 pm on the first night and again at 2 pm the next day. With a rental unit that claims it can host up to 32 people on one property with an outdoor swimming pool, it’s only natural that noise will be generated. We laughed and we enjoyed ourselves, outside during reasonable hours. All in all the home itself was beautiful.
4.8
Excellent house. Plan on coming back.

We had a friends reunion at this property. Five families gathered to spend Memorial Day weekend together, with children ranging from 1 year old to 15. The property is spacious with enough accomodations to sleep us comfortably. The location is close to many hiking trails and parks. The pool and outdoor area is beautiful.
We were there in May just as the pool had been opened so the pool was still cold (70 degrees) but that is to be expected. Property manager very responsive. I would definitely stay here again.
4.8
Enjoyed the pool, in-house activities, spending quality time on the deck.
4.8
The rooms with individually controlled temperature and en suites for nearly all of them! The pool, sun deck, hot tub, sauna, pool table, ping pong table, football, theater, Pac-Man, fire pit … it goes on and on! 2 refrigerators and a huge chest freezer - so close to all the hickory run trails, Jim Thorpe, whitewater rafting, regional airport… our family of 24 adults loved the week we spent here! You will not be disappointed. As with all properties that are heavily used, we had a few glitches - management responded immediately!
4.8
This house had plenty of space for our large group. Plenty of bedrooms and restrooms and places to congregate. The pool are made it seem like a resort. We spent a lot of time there. There's a lot of hiking trails around the area and enough towns close by to enjoy shopping and eating out. The place was in need of some minor maintenance/upkeep, but nothing that prevented us from enjoying our stay. I would recommend this property for large groups.
4.8
Quiet setting not far from Jim Thorpe. We had issues with check-in. The owner was responsive and attempted to quickly address the issues. Ample parking for our large group- 9 cars. The house is in need of some cosmetic maintenance/updates but overall was fine. The highlight was the fantastic pool area. It was a hit with the kids and adults!
4.8
This place is amazing. Every bedroom with a separate bath.
4.8
What a great time!

So much room. We swam everyday.we used the theatre room 3 nights!
We love having rooms for everyone and plenty of bathrooms.
The ate on the deck every day!
Great great time!

Huge house for big gatherings. Rooms have bathrooms with jacuzzis, plenty of kids rooms, space for separate entertainment and relaxation. Pool is amazing. Hot tub, sauna, movie theater, ping pong, pool table all big hits. Massive professional freezer chest to store extra food. Two refrigerators. Facilities are perfect. The property manager is super responsive. Nearby area is fantastic- hikes in the state park, near water park, golf courses, fishing, horseback riding.
4.8
We loved this house! We are all hoping to come back together again in the summer. Everything was great, the manager was so helpful and we absolutely loved our stay.
4.8
The rental home was perfect for our friends and family ski and snowboard weekend getaway. We had a total of 6 families and 24 people, with plenty of areas to hang out at the home where we never felt on top of each other. The kids definitely enjoyed the entertainment options with the movie theater, arcade games, pool table and ping pong. While the adults couldn’t get enough of the Sauna! Great communication from the owner where every message through the app was responded to very quickly. Definitely would recommend this rental home!
4.8
I had myself and 31 others stay at this place for a long weekend (MLK weekend). The place is exactly as it seems in pictures. It is spacious, beautiful, and accommodating to a large group. We did have to pick up some spices and small odds and ends, but things were great! The hot tub was broken (literally the reason why I booked it-I was heartbroken), but it wasn't the fault of the house as a repairman was sent out and never showed up on the first day. There was a lot of communication regarding this issue, so at no point was I left scratching my head. I was sending messages about different things, including the hot tub, late in the evening, and still getting replies (i.e., 11:00 pm, 1:30 am)...that definitely a pleasant surprise! The sauna was cool (but literally hot)! There was lots of places to park around the property. We did not use the pool since it was winter, but hope to in the summer! Overall, the stay was amazing for a large group, and I can speak for everyone by saying that we hope to be able to stay here again!
4.8
We had a fantastic family reunion at the house. The weather was horrible, so we didn’t leave the house for 3 days. We were 17 people and the house never felt crowded. Plenty to do for everyone. The owner was extremely responsive from booking through our stay.
4.8
We had a large group of 17 total stay here for our annual get together and it was fantastic! The online pictures really don't do justice to just how breathtaking this property was. I could not recommend more for people with large groups to stay here!
4.8
The property was great and we all had a great time! Everything was provided and in good working order. Would definitely use again!
4.8
Property is beautiful , spacious and very clean. Property owner was very helpful. I would definitely recommend this location .
4.8
Really the perfect house for bringing a large group of folks together. All the king bedrooms have their own bathroom and with plenty of bunk beds spread around there was easy sleeping for everyone (11 folks, no couples). We did get out for a hike and lunch but with all the amenities around the house, we were very happy to spend much of our time not going anywhere. Would recommend it for a chill weekend for a large group of friends.
4.8
Great time, lots of room, the pool was perfect and all the amenities (pool, sauna, hot tub, pool table etc. gave lots of options for many different ages,

Our family of 21, ranging in ages 1 to 89, had a great time & really enjoyed the house. Had great communication with the host. The swimming pool & theater room were a bit hit with the kids, the adults loved the pool table & hot tub & everyone had a great time using the arcade games. It was nice that all the bedrooms had their own bathrooms. And it’s very close to the beautiful Lehigh Gorge rail trail. We hope to be back!

House was fun comfortable and provided everything we needed. Lots of space. And the pool was amazing.

Home had everything we needed - plenty of bedrooms with private baths, large common eating area, large indoor and outdoor gathering areas, beautiful pool and a well equipped kitchen. The home worked out as we intended.

Perfect for large group or family!
The house was perfect for our family ranging in age from 2 1/2 to 75! The kitchen was well-stocked and most areas were clean and inviting.. Most in our group have expressed that they’d like to return! This has happened only once before in our 20 years of family vacations!

Beautiful Castle in the Poconos mountains
This property is amazing and soo beautiful!
High speed Internet and cable!
Games for all ages and a trails near by for those that want to adventure out in the woods !
It was an epic experience! I will definitely rent this place again for hosting party’s and family events!

Graduation
The property was great for our event. The pool was filled late Friday and the heater was not yet in operation so the water was still too cold for any real swimming. That aside the house lived up to it's billing. Note: There were some hidden fees when booking that add up pretty significantly.
