Stayed for 4 nights in September with spouse and another couple. Cabin was extremely clean and had zero bugs (very difficult to achieve for a remote location like this). Very comfortable, bunk beds were larger than expected, firewood was provided, and current river was only a short walk away. We were able to do canoe trips during the day, and fires at the cabin (or by the river) at night. Phenomenal location. Do be mindful that the final 6 miles has a lot of steep hills on narrow gravel roads - definitely advised to get there during the daytime the first time around. May be difficult to handle some of the hills if you have a small / underpowered vehicle loaded down with gear. Easy checkout with reasonable requirements.

My wife and I loved this home. The grounds were very well kept and I can express how secluded the property feels. The current river flows near the property and the location of home offers a proximity few probably get to enjoy.

Beautiful property, extremely secluded. If you’re looking for a place to reset this is it. Directions from host and communication were excellent.

Property was better than described. We enjoy the short walk to the river. Fished, floated, sat around a little bonfire and told stories and laughed. Yard was well maintained. Enjoy the wildflowers planted all around edges. Kitchen had everything that we needed. Be aware of raccoons that will come to the deck nightly. Make sure to secure any trash or recyclables that you may have placed on deck.

Peaceful in the mornings and rabbits are everywhere with all the clover. One of the most peaceful places I have ever found. Nice to have a four wheeler for the road.

When we arrived at the property, our jaws just dropped. We couldn’t believe how serene and secluded it was, which was just what we were looking for. We loved listening to the birds singing in the morning, while drinking coffee on the ample deck. Best of all may have been ending our canoe trip on the Current River by walking back up to the house! Just a dream! Thank you Frances for your accommodations and prompt communication.

My family and I had an incredible experience. The cabin itself was fantastic, offering all the comforts and amenities we could hope for. However, the standout feature for us was the covered porch. It provided a serene and secluded space that truly allowed us to disconnect and enjoy nature. Our children had a blast exploring the surroundings, playing in the nearby river, and learning to fly fish. The combination of peaceful relaxation and outdoor adventure was exactly what we needed. We definitely go back and highly recommend it to anyone in search of a peaceful yet adventurous getaway.

This was a return visit for our crew. We had another great stay and enjoyed our time exploring the surrounding area. The Blackstone is a great addition to the amenities.

It's hard to summarize the vast beauty that surrounded us. The location is the most secluded and peaceful area you will ever find. You're just a short walk away from the most clearest river I've ever seen, the Current River.
The cabin was more than we needed - spacious, clean, comfortable beds, showers, nice large tub, a kitchen with everything you need - just bring your groceries (nearest store is about an hour away.
We enjoyed our rocking chairs on the large porch every morning and afternoon. Every review I read was SPOT-ON and Fran's listing was very accurate - just follow her directions on how to get to the cabin and you'll be fine.
And let me not forget to mention that our two German Shorthaired Pointers had the time of their lives running and swimming in the river - needless to say they, too, slept well at night.
We will definitely be back for another visit. Thank you for sharing this GEM with us, Fran.

I loved everything about this place. A true hidden gem. 200 yards from a great swimming hole in the gorgeous Current River, comfortable cabin to sleep in a night. Clean, all the amenities you need to have a great stay. I cannot wait to go back there. In fact, let me know if you ever want to sell it. It is my fella’s dream to have a place exactly like this.

We loved our stay! I booked our stay from Sunday-Wednesday and when it was time to pack up I wished I had stayed the whole week. It was a lovely place to let the dogs run and play and disconnect from the rest of the world for a bit. I would definitely recommend and will probably do it again sometime. Just really a lovely getaway. The last 6 miles of the trip made me a little anxious but once we pulled up to the gate and I looked out my window and saw a doe, I knew it was going to be great.

If you truly want to get away, this is the perfect place. We spent most of our time outside floating Akers to Round Spring, made it a 2 day float. This was a great stop along the way, approx. 13 miles by canoe to the cabin from Akers and another 6 to finish up the next day. Super convenient as Carr's Canoe Rental is located very close. My kids loved driving on the gravel road coming to and from the cabin, that was an adventure on its own! The gravel bar located at the cabin is home to a beaver clan, it was fun to sit under the stars and watch them work at night carrying branches down the river to build their beaver houses. Saw a few bald eagles as well. Caught some smallmouth from the gravel bar. The amenities were great, got plenty of use from the blackstone and gas grill for quick and easy meals with minimal cleanup. 10/10! Will be back!

This is a well built and maintained cabin way back off the beaten path. Lovely setting right next to the Current River where the owners keep a mowed path to the rivers edge. There is a lovely gravel bar. Our only disappointment was we had tent campers on the gravel bar both nights. I'm previous trips we've gotten it all to ourselves.

Simply amazing! This stunning retreat is by far the most wonderful place we have ever stayed. The hosts thought of everything! The spot on the river is iconic! A wonderful place for relaxation and fun! 100% would recommend!

Everything was better than described. We had a wonderful stay and enoyed our peace and solitude! The property is surrounded by wildlife and sits by itself in nature. Every amenity in the cabin was first class and very well thought out. I wouldnt hesitate to recomend this host or the property to friends and Im sure we will return.

This property is everything that you expect and then some. It is a little difficult to get to but worth the effort.
We took our three grandkids (ages 16,12,&4) and they loved the experience. Swimming, tubing, exploring , and just sitting around the campfire. Our 12 year old granddaughter said that it was our best trip yet
All of our VRBO/HOME AWAY rentals have been good experiences, but this property manager (Frances) is one of the best.
The 7 mile drive on a narrow gravel road seems daunting, but is very doable.
I highly recommend this property.

Very remote and right next to the river. House was very clean. Can be a little daunting driving through 6 miles of gravel roads, but the directions provided by the host made is a lot easier.

Beautiful home and property with good Current River Access, fire pit with plenty of wood, gas grill and gas flat top. Everything you need but food and drink. Bring all your food and drink. Stores are not close by.

Spacious, updated, clean cabin, with a short walk to a large gravel bar on the river with bluffs on the opposite side. I don't know of any other rental in MO that offers this with such seclusion and privacy. Well done owners, we will be back when the weather is warmer!

Driving back to Minnesota as I write this, but won't get home until a day late thanks to no travel advised blizzard. We loved the break from all the snow, and would love to go back early next fall, we had a blast!!

Great property, very clean, kitchen well stocked for different types of cooking, lots of open space. Bed very comfortable, bedrooms roomy. It is very secluded. Fun being by the river and when the clouds were not present, star gazing at night was perfect as there was no light pollution. No noise pollution either, very soothing to walk along the river and huge yard for play. Host was very timely in responding to questions. I certainly agree with the host that arriving before dark the first day is very important as my maps function on my cell phone did not always work. Follow the printed directions!! they were perfect!

Great location, the ideal place to disconnect!

Besides a power outage on our last evening there, we really enjoyed our stay. We loved being so close to the Current River where we were able to build a fire and skip rocks. Some of our kids couldn’t resist the river and even waded in before warming by the fire! The clear night sky was just amazing and we all loved seeing shooting stars. Having a comfortable and cozy home to enjoy sharing meals, games and movies together as a family was just what we were hoping for. Our four-legged friends also had the time of their lives and we were really happy to find a nice property that allowed for our pets. Thank you very much for making your lovely home available for others to enjoy!

Perfect place for getting away from normal and disconnecting. Property was perfect with great access to current river. Surrounded by public property for miles means you are literally away from everything. Kudos to the hosts for providing starlink internet which was much needed for entertaining the little ones. Everything was perfect from receiving detailed instructions and directions to the property from the host and then with everything the property provides. If you want to disconnect and get away from the real world this is the place.
