The place was absolutely gorgeous and spacious. And looked just as described. My family and I had a wonderful relaxing vacation here. We fished and crabbed and just relaxed by the water and enjoyed the beach during the day which was a very short drive. The best of both worlds! Great place to stay if you are not into beach front but love the water! Justin was very responsive and helpful in every way! I would definitely make a return trip and recommend this place to anyone! Thank you for the wonderful memories!

My family loved it. Will be booking again soon for next year.

The house was as described. Lots of room and beautiful back yard. Some home decor is a bit eccentric but just made it interesting. The back building with the screen porch is very relaxing. The home is much larger than in the pictures. Justin, the homeowner is very easy to reach and very responsive. The location of the home is nice. Close to the the grocery stores and there is an ice cream shop a short walk away. We didn't do that well fishing or crabbing this week out back but that's fishing. Great sunrise on the back porch to see with your morning coffee.
The beaches were nice. But fair warning to newcomers to the area. Parking lots over the bridge in town and at beach access areas are pay to park. And is strictly enforced. Go left at the end of the bridge towards North topsail beach and there are Onslow County free parking lots with easy access to the beach.
Overall, Great stay and we enjoyed our time there.

Perfect place for us to stay. On a quiet street within walking distance of the bridge over to the island. If the fishing had been a little better it would have been a perfect vacation.

First let me say the host, Justin was a very responsive nice person to communicate with. This property is truly unique. Every room is filled with antiques. My husband and I being in our late 60's could relate to the furnishings within the home.
The home sits on a quiet street. We felt safe and secure in the neighborhood. It is about 2 miles from Topsail which is over a long bridge to the beach and ocean area. The home sits on an inlet area. We enjoyed the herons and egrets.
The master bedroom was wonderful with quality oil paintings and probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. It was so comfy I didn't want to get out of it, lol. The kitchen had everything you'd need and room to prepare it.
You could tell the place had a history. It started out as a mobile home and was added on to from both sides. With the many upgrades it was hard to tell.
The outside porch/deck area had really nice furniture where I sat and played my guitar a couple of mornings. The firepit area down by the water was our favorite spot in the evenings. We'd watch the moon come up. It was truly lovely being so close to nature and the wildlife of the waterways.
We loved the place and our stay, but to be fair in the review I need to mention two things. One was the neighbors yard light that was so bright you could hardly see the stars at night. The other were the windows. No screens, many didn't lock or close fully. I'm sure those upgrades will happen. I know windows are costly. :>)

Cute little quirky place! We had a great week. Owner was quick to respond with answers to questions. While the layout was a bit unusual, it worked. The new deck furniture was really appreciated. The kids loved being able to fish from the backyard.

We really enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect…close to the beach, stores, restaurants, and fun activities…yet also quiet and private.
We loved having fishing equipment and the ability to fish from right in the backyard!

Would highly recommend this place for a beach getaway! We loved every bit of it and hope to come back soon again!

The property was as advertised. There are numerous minor maintenance issues such as door and sink fixtures were loose to falling off, holes in the screens or missing screens, broken windows, missing light fixtures, and loose boards on the back porch. A little TLC could resolve those issues. The biggest issue we had was a horrible smell of something dead as soon as we walked into the house, to find a dead, rotting crab beside the computer desk. There were also mice that ate anything left on the counters every night. The location is amazing as it is close to the beach but away from the crowds for quiet evenings. The yard and water access was nice. The beds are all very comfortable but the adjoining bedrooms were a little awkward. I would recommend this house if the issues were all corrected, but probably would not return myself.

The place was exactly as described. Very clean! There were a couple hiccups but after communicating (with quick response) with the owner they were quickly addressed!! Definitely recommend!
Parts of the house however are not for the very tall! My husband (6’3”) had a hard time in the shower and kitchen but nothing that would keep us from ever booking a return visit! Really enjoyed being able to dish from our backyard!! Our family of four fit comfortably for the week with plenty of space to have some quiet time as well without feeling cramped on top of one another!!

The location/view was amazing.. if the review was solely based on that I could give ten stars…
But…..
The property needs a lil love. The screens at both the front and rear doors were ripped/detached allowing insects( and the occasional lizard) to get in..
The furniture, while unique, wasn’t the most comfortable and the table on the deck was entirely unusable.
The biggest issue was the bed in the master. Was it comfortable? It was, very. Was it almost impossible to get onto? It was. The bed is very very tall making it nearly impossible for anyone who may be short (or with any type of mobility issues for that matter) to easily get onto the bed without some kind of assistance. I feel that information should be part of your property description.

We all loved our stay. The house was great and in a quiet location. Loved being able to walk out the back door and able to fish anytime I wanted. We sat around the fire pit at night and just relaxed and talked. That is something we just don’t take time for anymore. I would stay here again.

Owner was extremely easy to work with, did not encounter any issues with the property. The location was wonderful, the neighborhood (& neighbors) were very nice, Oct weather was wonderful. I'll be back! My son loved it and may try to buy it! (JK...a little). Kitchen had EVERYTHING needed + and the beds were so comfortable. Enjoyed the fishing, rented a boat and had a blast and the cool weather was perfect for a fire at night. ***** Retirement can't come fast enough!

This is our third stay in the Fish Camp and it was just as amazing as ever. The house is very comfortable with a well equipped kitchen and lovely spaces for relaxation both inside and outside with a nice porch and screened in area near the water. We love being on the sound but also love that access to the island and the waves are very close and easy to get to from the house. I really cannot say enough good things about this property — we love it and will definitely be back for a fourth visit when we can!!

Emphasis on the ‘Camp’
I feel that the purpose of reviews is to provide other potential consumers information to consider as they make their choices and that is the spirit with which I write this review, to provide information based on the experience and opinion of my family.
This would probably not be an ideal location for fellow tall families (two of us are right around 6’). The shower heads, mirror levels and light fixture in the middle of the kitchen are at levels that require consistent stooping, crouching, dodging or contorting (as in washing your hair in the shower).
This would be a good place for families who travel light as there are no closets and minimal surface space or storage. The wall hooks in the master bedroom provided a place to hook items but if you want to hang anything bring your own hangers. The owner has provided many towels which came in handy as we needed one to provide extra friction in order to keep the bathroom door closed. But bring extra washcloths, we could only find 3.
There are no exhaust fans in either bathroom, if you like hot showers be prepared for that to add to the overall heat and humidity in the home as you will need open the bathroom doors to the rest of the house in order for the mirror to defog or be able to cool down enough to get dressed. For that reason and because it takes so long for the accumulated standing water to drain out of the tub, this house might not work well for families that plan on back-to-back showers. Be aware of the potential for that standing water as the bathroom is so dimly lit that you may not see it until you go to turn the water on. Lighting was also scarce in the secondary bedroom where there were only lamps and the overhead lighting did not work. If you try to move the couch to avoid neck strain from watching TV at the weird angle, watch out for what seems to be a poor repair of a weakened floor under the couch.
No matter how we tried to reduce the frequency of opening the doors, there was no reducing the number of annoying gnats and other small flying things that were inside the home. Because of those and the crawly things we dealt with the owners may want to consider pest control or ensuring all openings are sealed. Sealing openings could also reduce the sewage smell that was ever present.
I’m glad there are so many other glowing reviews and that is has been such a positive experience for other families, it just wasn’t a great fit for us.

Nothing Short of Amazing!
This was our 5th stay at this property. It's close to everything yet nestled on a quiet street. A whole back yard of grass leading to the water. That's rare. A place for a fire, a hammock, amazing sun rises, excellent fishing/crabbing, a super comfy king sized bed in the master, a kitchen with everything you need, plenty of spots for everyone to sleep, lots of seating, two full bathrooms, a washer & dryer, a dining room table, an outdoor patio and the list goes on & on. I've never had a bad experience here. Did I mention it's amazing?!

The PERFECT Getaway!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Fish Camp. The house was completely stocked with everything you could ever need for the perfect vacation. The scenery off of the back deck was very relaxing, looking at the sound and the boats going by. The host, Justin, was great to work with, too! We had a great time, and this will be on our list to visit again in the future!

Home away from home <3
We have been staying at this property for several years in a row. It's really become our happy place. It's quirky, it's inviting, comfortable, well furnished with every thing you'd need (including things like oil for cooking, plenty of pots and pans, a coffee maker, washer/ dryer, etc.), and such a wonderful ambiance. Close drive to the beach, restaurants, and stores. Beautiful view of the ICW. Gorgeous sunsets. My husband and I love everything about this little gem, we can't wait to come back every year.

Fun, sun, and fishing
We had a great time while staying here. Our guys loved being able to fish in the back yard. Even the little one. The view is amazing! The house was perfect for the five of us.

Great cabin
My husband and I had a nice stay. The cabin was much bigger than the listing made it seem. Would definitely have been comfortable sharing with another couple. The location was very close to bridge to topsail so we had easy access. The screened in porch attached to shed was great to keep bugs away and still enjoy the view. Would stay here again

Comfortable, convenient, and quaint
Two friends and I spent three restful nights at this property. The beds were super comfy (even the futon) and bathrooms, clean, with plenty of extra towels. Access to the island as well as the bigger roadways leading into and out of the general area couldn't have been easier. The decor is eclectic with something to look at and wonder about wherever you turn. We also enjoyed a lovely brunch out on the back deck one morning, just needed to lay down a tablecloth and select seating with a bit of caution. The check-in/check-out procedures were easy and straightforward and the hosts were communicative and extremely easy to reach. We did have to give some of the kitchenware and appliances a good scrub before using and, while kitschy and labeled in some instances, the lighting situation was a little tricky to figure out. Overall, however, we had a pleasant stay and settled in pretty quickly to our home away from home for the long weekend.
