Waverly Cottage is ideal for couples, families, or small groups of friends -- and is the perfect home base for your getaway!
The cottage includes:
- 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with two twin beds
- 1 full bathroom and the second one is a half bath (full bath located in the master bedroom, 1/2 bath is off the kitchen)
- Two additional pull-out beds, one in the living room (queen) and the other in the sitting room (twin)

Much of this Victorian Gem is in its original form and has been lovingly maintained over the last 165 years, from the original 1840s foundation, to the one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted porch trim, gable shingles, and hardwood floors and stone landscaping borders. We hope you will most of all enjoy the historic charm and unique piece of history that this property represents.
Enjoy your mornings or evenings on the balcony, which offers a peaceful retreat with lovely views. Whether you're sipping coffee or simply taking in the fresh air, the balcony is a perfect spot to relax and unwind. To really create an inviting atmosphere, open the doors for a gentle crossflow breeze through the house.
One of the best aspects of Waverly Cottage is the location. We’re surrounded by the boundaries of the National Park (it’s across the street) and literally steps (2 minute walk with steep walking paths along the way) from all of the major sites in Harpers Ferry (less ¼ mile from John Brown’s Fort). We’re also just a short 5 minute walk from the Appalachian Trail. Bring your walking shoes!
We often take our three little kids to the cottage, so we're very family-friendly. Unfortunately, we don't allow any dogs or cats in the cottage.
Beyond Historic Harpers Ferry, we love how close to everything we are! Fantastic hiking trails, kayaking and tubing on the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers, and dozens of amazing little shops, restaurants, and wineries -- all within a 20 minute drive.

The cottage was very quaint. Peaceful. Walked to Harper's Ferry. Did some hiking. When into Charles Town to antique shop. Went to the Harper's Ferry Brewery.

We had a wonderful time in Harper’s Ferry and this house worked out well for our group of four. The location was perfect- close to downtown but still very private and tranquil. The kitchen is well stocked with essentials, the air conditioning kept us nice and cool, and the ease of parking right outside the property was very appreciated. The location made it super easy to walk to all of the historical sites, trails and downtown amenities. The home itself has character and is well loved- our favorite part was sitting on the back porch to watch the many animals such as blue jays, robins, deer, cats and groundhogs. The sunsets were absolutely stunning from there as well! It was our first time to Harper’s Ferry and we truly had a blast. I highly recommend visiting the barn for free popcorn, delicious cocktails and electric and talented live music every night! Bolivar bread company, the rabbit hole and prohibition brewery were also great. Thanks so much for an unforgettable stay!

My partner and I had a wonderful weekend in Harpers Ferry. The cottage was in the center of everything…and we especially enjoyed being able to walk to Mass at the beautiful, historic St. Peter’s.

This historic house right off the main streets of Harper’s Ferry makes you feel that you are right in the middle of the history of the town. The host was extremely attentive, and the home was definitely charming. I would stay here again.

Great location. The loose rocks in the entrance are a trip hazard. None of the upstairs doors shut so no privacy. But the kitchen amenities were great. Definitely not handicap accessible.

We had the pleasure of staying at this property over a long holiday weekend and were delighted by the house. It is so charming and filled with special historic touches, but still has all the modern updates and amenities.
And the location cannot be beat. You can park your car and not move it the entire weekend as downtown is a mere 5-minute walk away. Hiking trails are also all easily accessible by foot, as are all the local shops and restaurants.
The owners were also very responsive, and even though we had zero issues during our stay, I'm sure they would have responded right away if there was anything amiss.

The property was only a 5 min walk to Jefferson stone on the Appalachian trail. Unique home. A few maintenance things but we saw a lot of deer in the yard and overall wonderful, relaxing stay.

I loved this old house and the town. It worked great for me and my four grown kids The imperfections of the house due to age just made me appreciate it more.

Excellent location in the historic district of Harpers Ferry. Easy (but steep) walk from the cottage to the waterfront. The cottage is well-equipped.
The floor plan worked for our group of three adults. There is one full bathroom which is ensuite with the primary bedroom. The half-bath is downstairs off of the kitchen. So, it took a little accommodation to share the full bathroom, but we managed well during our three-night stay.
The kitchen is well-equipped. Parking is street side on a narrow lane. But, included parking in that part of a historic town is quite a plus.
Tony was a helpful and responsive host.

Family is looking forwarded to a longer stay in the future. Great get away from the city rat race. Loved being able to walk everywhere insteading of driving. First VRBO experience but so much easier than dealing with hotels.

The pretty Victorian home was just as described and located in the perfect spot for touring Harpers Ferry. The host was very responsive to all our needs. It was a lovely visit for me and my 89 year old Dad.

Probably the best possible location in the Harper's Ferry area. The cottage was wonderful, very quaint and comfortable. It's location is perfect, nestled in the woods and, as described, only walking minutes from the Harper's Ferry sights. A day did not go by that we did not see wildlife in the back or front of the house. Tony was the best host we've had in VRBO.

Lovely historic home that was easy walking distance to attractions and restaurants. The beds were comfortable and the whole home was very well stocked and appointed.

Make sure you read the description of the property carefully. The VRBO specs are incorrect, the written description is more accurate. There are really only 2 bedrooms, both upstairs that share the only full bath, which is an ensuite off the queen bedroom. The second bathroom is a half bath located off the kitchen. The house definitely shows its age on the inside and outside, including very thin walls, sloping floors and door handles that fall off. (We figured out very quickly why there was a screwdriver in the bathroom.) Stability of wifi connection to stream on the TV was not good. Location is nice and walkable for Harper's Ferry. The parking is very tight for large cars. We appreciated Tony checking in and being responsive.

Great place to stay and feel apart of the town. The short walk down the hill is beatific. The house is cute and communication was great.

This charming Victorian house has everything. Tony, the host, is great. He does a super job making sure your stay goes smoothly. His house manual is the best I have encountered (precise and helpful). And should you have any questions, he is but a text away.
The house is a gem. It’s well kept, comfy, cozy, and perfectly situated. Located on a quiet road, it is within walking distance to all that makes Harpers Ferry a wonderful place to visit. The town is rich in natural beauty, interesting historical sites, and excellent hiking opportunities.
I look forward to coming back to Harpers Ferry and staying at Waverly Cottage.

This was a return trip for us, the time before we stayed at the Clarion. It was a treat to be staying right in Harpers Ferry this time and not have to worry about parking. The house was lovely and the property manager was friendly and communicative. We will stay here again!

walking distance to so many things! Restaurants, hiking shopping! This adorable house is perfect for discovering Harpers Ferry. We had some great meals and took some great hikes in this beautiful little town. I have stayed at many VRBOs but the communication I got from the owner was one of the best. I have had so far..

Great location right in Harpers Ferry
This house was perfect for our family of 5 - 2 adults, 3 kids. We love a walkable vacation - this cottage house was clean, cozy and relaxing (front and back porches!) with the bonus of historic charm and a few minute walk from lower town historic sites, coffee shops, restaurants, Appalachian Trail, etc. Tony was a super helpful host and communicated very quickly. Highly recommend!!

A Delightful Experience!!
Thank you, Tony, for making your home available. You’re a helpful and attentive host with great communication. We really enjoyed our stay. The two bedrooms were perfect for my wife and me and our two adult daughters. The home was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed eating out in town and also cooking in the well-appointed kitchen. It’s a great spot for exploring all the activities that Harpers Ferry has to offer. Definitely recommend and would stay again. A delightful experience!

national park visit
The house was super clean when we arrived. Cleanliness is the most important thing when I stay somewhere and it was superb here. We came to Harper's Ferry to hike and there are several trailheads within walking distance of the house. You can easily walk to the shops and restaurants in 5 minutes. This was really convenient not to have to drive and find parking. Parking at the house is tight so it would be difficult to park a truck or a large SUV. Overall the house was nice and the Host Tony was excellent in getting information to you regarding the stay and places to go in the area.

Wonderful accomodations close to everything
My husband and I stayed at this lovingly restored 1842 home that came with parking! We could walk to everything the quaint and charming town of Harper's Ferry offered. We walked to several restaurants and hiked Maryland Heights. The back porch was lovely and we enjoyed a glass of wine after the hike. The home was clean, tastefully decorated, and the kitchen was well appointed. My husband was really impressed with the water pressure. The host, Tony, was very responsive, accommodating, and helpful. We would stay here again.

Great stay in Harpers Ferry
Very nice property within a short walk from Harpers Ferry historic district. Great location but streets are up hill “both ways.” A little rough on my old knees. Host is excellent and keeps property well maintained. Would definitely stay there again.
