Before you head to the mountains to visit this beautiful area, please understand this is really the mountains! Mountain roads - both state and private - will be steeper, narrower, and curvier than you may be used to driving. As a local once said, "Consider it part of our rural mountain charm." To that you need to know this includes the journey to Bear Walk as the drive up through the community is a single lane road accommodating 2-way traffic. Please feel free to reach out to us with questions to understand the drive before you book. It's highly recommended that you arrive for the first night during daylight to be aware of your surroundings.
Please note: One nuance to the region is that ladybugs are seasonal and when the temperatures drop, they do find their way into most homes. We do strive to keep our home very clean and remove them when they enter. However, we have no way to completely stop them. So, if you are uncomfortable with ladybugs, please consider what time of year you plan to visit western North Carolina. Refunds aren't issued for ladybug visits.

We enjoyed are stay at Bear's Walk. Barb was an outstanding host!. Home was very spacious, clean and comfortable and the views from the deck, driveway and around the bend were definitely million-dollar views. We spent each morning taking in views from all three of these locations which is a must. Just memorizing and breathtaking with the Fall colors.!
Note that the road is paved all the way to the cabin. There are few tricky turns and becomes a somewhat one lane road into the neighborhood up to the cabin. There are few turnoffs and mirrors to help in key areas. Fortunately, we arrived after dark so that helped with any oncoming traffic issues.
The cabin is in a great location with easy access to Hwy 74/19 where our various expeditions to the NOC, the Skyway, BRP, and numerous hiking areas (Nolan Creek, Deepcreek, Huckleberry Knob, Mingo and Soco falls and Waterrock). I would definetely stay at Barb's Bear Walk again.

My favorite part of our whole vacation was sunset on the porch. Our family of four had more than enough room. The owners were helpful and had lots of extras to make our stay comfortable and special.

Norm and Barb are the BEST! This property is amazing!

We had a great time at this property. It is remote, beautiful and peaceful. Bryson City is a reasonable drive away for dinner, adventures, or groceries, but the house is secluded and private. Hosts were wonderful in terms of communication and timeliness.

Beautiful views, wonderful property, highly recommend!
We are from Florida, I am a ICU nurse and my husband is a Plumber, we were looking to get away from city life and experience something new. This was a very positive mind blowing experience from the view, the cleanliness, the space, the fire pits, Jacuzzi, indoor fire place , grill and everything you need is provided. We are so impressed we cant wait to visit again. The hosts are wonderful and the process is easy no hassles. Well worth it! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us! Many blessings!

The house was exactly as described, with all the comforts of home and an incredible view. Nightly sunset viewing was a must! The hot tub was perfect during the chilly fall evenings, and though we didn’t use the fireplace, it will make a colder night much more cozy. The beds were very comfortable, and the quiet neighborhood made it easy to sleep in or sneak a lazy afternoon nap. The property was so private we felt like we had the mountain to ourselves. Barb and Norm were the perfect hosts. They made sure we had everything we needed and even provided a basket of goodies for our stay. We are already planning a return visit to this incredible property. Thanks so much Barb and Norm!
