The apartment is located in a building which looks quite dingy on the way in and smells a bit. The apartment itself is quite spacious but not as nice as the pictures - it seemed not to have been cleaned recently and left the bottoms of my feet dirty when walking around barefoot.
Check-in details came through the morning of the arrival, and the host was kind enough to let us check in early, for which we were grateful. She also let us know relevant information about garbage and parking.
The beds had some sort of plastic sheeting on the mattress, which is something we found odd but not a big deal. The apartment is quite dark and generally needed lights switched on during the day (a feature of the building, not down to the host).
The location is very good for those wanting to visit the local bar scene in East & West Dundee. The apartment mostly had everything you could need - toiletries, first aid items, coffee machine, plates etc. (although we did need to wash glasses before using them and found some dried food on the colander when we tried to use it). We did need to buy cooking oil though.
None of the negatives mentioned above affected our stay much and we didn't feel the need to contact the host during our stay.
Overall, the apartment is spacious enough, has essentials and the furniture is comfortable. There were also instructions provided near the front door, which was useful.

The traffic noise was AWFUL. The bar on the corner across the street was quieter. Then there was a banging noise that sounded like someone was standing under the bedroom floor and pounding it with a 2x4. This only happened when it got cold out so my hubby said it might be the boiler.
The bathroom had a big mouldy looking sploch on the ceiling and wall along with brown streaks running down it.The antique medicine cabinet looked like it would fall into the sink if you opened it. There was a huge gap on the side where it wasn't flush with the wall.
Sent photos of the sploch and was told there was a radiator leak in the apartment upstairs and yet it was rented out to us this way! Very disgusting! The stove had some yucky ant baits visible on the floor next to it. Only saw one carpenter ant on the counter during our stay, thank God! Couldn't have the windows open for air during the day because of all the holes in the screens which let the stink bugs in. Screen door on the sun porch would not close, which let more bugs in.And you better have good eyesight because of the low wattage fixtures. We were raised in the area and surprised at all the new places to eat. Had some fantastic breakfasts! Don't know what these other reviewers were looking at.
All our other Vrbo rentals were fantastic. They had brochures about places to eat and visit. Some had snacks or toiletries in welcome baskets. This was a disappointment.

Great property that was perfect for my son's graduation. Kitchen, living room, and enclosed porch to relax in during a busy weekend. Loved walking along the Fox River.

This was a very cute rental, clean and close to family. We stayed over Christmas holiday. During our stay we experienced an extreme cold snap. The temperature inside of our unit fluctuated from 68-90 degrees. The majority of the time it stayed between 80-85, which was too warm. The building has a boiler heat system, so while our unit was too warm, the other units were probably not getting enough heat. Brook was very helpful by sending someone to turn down the radiators and suggesting cracking open windows. The location was another issue, both good and not so good. The location was very good as far as being close to family. It was not so good as far as being along a busy road. I am not used to trying to sleep with the noise of traffic, so it was a slight problem for me

This apartment was just the right place for my trip to visit old friends. Good parking, quiet and very comfortable. The kitchen had everything I needed including coffee. The apartment was tastefully decorated and clean as clean can be. Brook was easy to communicate with. There are several nice restaurants within walking distance and everything you need is a short drive away. I would happily stay here again!

Fun downtown, in the midst of it all spot!
We enjoyed the location and space at this place, allowing everyone to spread out. The kitchen is huge and well-appointed. Bathroom is kind of tiny but totally workable and everything else was great. Loved the sun porch. I can imagine it may get a bit loud because of downtown location but didn’t bother us! Would stay again!
